They had picked so many berries from this forest.

Would that not cause the wild Pokémon living here to struggle to survive the winter?

As images surfaced in his mind of countless Pokémon starving because of this, Atlas could not help but turn to Entei, trying to ask about the situation.Full novel: Pokémon: Child of the Volcano — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Yiya yiya?”

Hearing the little one on its back make a sound, Entei immediately used telepathy to ask,

“What is it?”

Atlas pointed at the berry tree that now had only a few berries left, then looked toward the departing Kangaskhan.

“Waa waa, aa aa yaa?”

Although there was still a language barrier between them, seeing the worry and reluctance on the little one’s face, Entei miraculously understood his meaning at that moment.

It immediately cast a majestic gaze toward the berry trees and explained through telepathy,

“Do not worry. Even though we have picked some berries, what remains will not prevent them from surviving this winter.”

“I did not harvest from the same place repeatedly. The berries in the cave were gathered from many different areas. From each place, I only brought back a small amount.”

More importantly, berries were a very special thing.

Even if all of them were picked from a tree, in less than three days, the branches would once again be filled with fresh berries.

Hearing Entei’s explanation, Atlas finally felt relieved.

If any Pokémon starved during the winter because of this, he would have found it hard to accept.

So the little one was worried that by picking too many berries, the Pokémon here would go hungry?

Entei felt a little surprised, but soon its heart was filled with pride and happiness.

As expected of its little one, he was truly kind.

The human and the Pokémon continued forward.

After wandering around for a while, Atlas began to feel tired.

As drowsiness crept over him, he lay on Entei’s back and started to doze off.

Seeing this, Entei said nothing.

It immediately turned around, preparing to take the little one back to the cave so he could sleep.

However, just as they passed the place where the Kangaskhan mother had picked berries earlier, Entei suddenly heard a sharp cry for help.

The voice was filled with urgency and tinged with panic.

Entei frowned slightly and immediately rushed in that direction.

Atlas, who had been nodding off, was startled awake by the sound.

What was that?

Entei quickly arrived at the scene.

Beneath the berry tree stood the Cubone and Marowak mother and child they had seen earlier. Find the original chapter at g.com.

The Marowak mother looked anxiously at her child, Cubone.

“What happened?” Entei’s deep and dignified voice rang out directly in Marowak’s heart.

“Maro!”

Marowak glanced at Entei with reverence before hurriedly explaining.

It turned out that her child Cubone had been too mischievous.

Coming here and seeing a berry pit on the ground, it had mistaken it for food and swallowed it.

Unexpectedly, the berry pit had become lodged in its throat.

It could neither spit it out nor swallow it down.

Cubone was now lying on the ground, already breathing more in than out.

Its eyes were tightly shut, its expression filled with pain.

Only its round little belly continued to rise and fall rapidly.

It was obvious that the Cubone was in great distress.

What should they do?

Entei frowned, attempting to help, but it had never encountered such a situation before and did not know how to handle it.

Seeing that Entei had no immediate solution, Marowak grew even more frantic.

She let out mournful cries, her eyes fixed anxiously on her child as its life seemed to slip away.

At that moment, Entei and Marowak suddenly heard a childish voice.

“Yiyi yaya?”

Marowak looked up and saw a human infant on Entei’s back.

“Little one?” Entei was slightly startled.

Then it felt the little one begin to struggle, as if trying to climb down.

Though confused, Entei lowered its body.

Atlas slid down from Entei’s back and crawled to the Cubone lying on the ground, carefully observing it.

From its pained expression and reactions, Atlas immediately understood that Cubone had choked on something.

“Yiyi yaya!”

He quickly turned to Entei and Marowak, gesturing for them to lift Cubone up from the ground.

The two Pokémon did not understand him and did not react at first.

Seeing this, Atlas grew anxious.

Marowak looked confused, but Entei reacted.

After spending these days together, it had grown very familiar with the little one.

Its little one never acted without reason.

Seeing his movements, Entei immediately said in a deep voice to Marowak,

“Lift it up!”

Though still bewildered, Marowak suddenly realized that perhaps the one before her might have a way to save her child.

She quickly helped Cubone to its feet.

Seeing this, Atlas crawled behind Cubone and began striking the area between its shoulder blades and spine with his soft little fists.

But nothing happened.

His strength was too small.

Helpless, Atlas turned to Entei and gestured for it to take over.

“Yiyi yaya!”

He grabbed Entei’s large paw and tugged it toward Cubone.

Entei understood.

With a single swing of its paw, the tremendous force sent Cubone flying forward.

At the same time, the berry pit lodged in its throat shot out as well.

“Cough cough cough cough!”

Cubone let out a violent fit of coughing, its face still twisted in pain.

The round berry pit rolled onto the ground.

Seeing this, Marowak’s face lit up with overwhelming joy.

She hurried forward to check on her child.

When she realized that aside from some minor injuries, Cubone was otherwise unharmed, she finally let out a long breath of relief.

With immense gratitude, she looked at the human child and at Entei.

Behind Entei, its cloudlike mane drifted in the wind.

It stood there, and on its usually stern and majestic face appeared a trace of gentleness.

Atlas grinned at Marowak and let out a cheerful giggle.

With the matter resolved, Entei picked Atlas up in its mouth, placed him back on its back, then turned and slowly walked away.

Neither of them noticed that within their shadows, a small figure was quietly watching everything with deep, unreadable eyes.
