In the end, Ash did not enroll in the Alola Pokémon School and instead returned to Kanto together with Aaron.

After all, Ash was only five years old—not the future traveler who would wander across six regions like in the original story.

Delia Ketchum, his mother, simply couldn’t rest easy.Full novel: Pokémon: I Am Ash’s Older Brother, The Genius Professor — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

So they went home.

Aaron had only brought it up on a whim anyway, so he didn’t insist.

Besides, even if nothing changed, Ash would still live a comfortable life five years later.

Aside from never winning a League Championship, his journey would be more exciting than that of any actual regional Champion.

On one side, he had a natural “protagonist luck aura”—wherever he went, Legendary Pokémon appeared.

Any Legendary that hadn’t been encountered by Ash would feel too embarrassed to even call itself a Legendary.

On the other side, he had a “disaster aura”—wherever he went, major criminal organizations collapsed.

Aside from Team Rocket, every major underground organization in each region would eventually be wiped out: Team Aqua, Team Magma, Team Galactic, the Pokémon Hunter J network, and more.

After returning to Kanto, Aaron didn’t stay home for long before reporting back to Professor Oak’s laboratory.

“Aaron, this is the Vulpix you caught in Alola?

As expected, it really is different from the Kanto form.”

The moment Aaron arrived full of excitement, Professor Oak’s attention was immediately drawn to the Vulpix on his shoulder.

Aaron rolled his eyes.

As expected of research fanatics—they only cared about the subject of study, not the person.

After handing Vulpix over for a period of examination, Aaron finally had time to talk properly with Professor Oak.

“Aaron, after my observation, this Vulpix is developing very well.

It’s no worse than a typical starter Pokémon.

You’re already ten years old now—do you want to start your journey with it?

I can even support you financially.

After all, you can stay at Pokémon Centers and won’t need much money,” Professor Oak suggested.

A warm feeling passed through Aaron’s heart, but he still shook his head.

“Professor, I will go on my journey eventually—but not now.

Since I’ve chosen the path of research, I need to become a Professor first, and at least obtain a Level Six Pokémon Breeder certification before I set out.

Since I’ve already started late, I want to do it properly.”

“Well said,” Professor Oak replied with a kind smile.

“But the youngest Pokémon Professor in history is eighteen.

Breaking that record won’t be easy.”

Aaron nodded.

“Yes.

That’s why I plan to become a Professor within three years—maybe even six months.”

“That’s impossible,” Professor Oak said seriously.

“Aaron, I understand your desire to go out and explore, but you must not aim too high or rush things.

There’s no room for fabrication.”

“I’m not exaggerating or faking anything,” Aaron said.

“Professor, if I discover a new Pokémon type and successfully research it, would that qualify me to become a Professor?”

“A new type?” Professor Oak’s expression immediately changed.

“What did you find?”

Without hesitation, Aaron explained.

“In Alola, I saw an Alolan Exeggutor using Dragon Tail against a Jigglypuff, but the Jigglypuff was completely unharmed—like Fighting-type moves hitting Ghost-types.

As we know, Normal-type Pokémon cannot resist Dragon-type moves.

So I suspect Jigglypuff has a second typing—one that can resist and even nullify Dragon-type attacks.”

“Jigglypuff can nullify Dragon-type moves?” Professor Oak immediately turned and rushed to his computer.

His fingers flew across the keyboard as vast amounts of data streamed across the screen.

Aaron stood quietly behind him.

He knew this computer was connected to the global academic network.

Any relevant research data could be retrieved instantly.

“It’s true… Jigglypuff really can resist Dragon-type attacks,” Professor Oak muttered in shock.

“Not just Jigglypuff,” Aaron continued.

“According to my research, Clefairy and Togepi also share this trait.

Clefairy’s origins are even unknown—it’s often referred to as an ‘extraterrestrial Pokémon.’ I suspect this is because of this new type.”

“Clefairy and Togepi… a new type?” Professor Oak’s eyes burned with excitement.

For a researcher, nothing was more thrilling than discovering new knowledge.

“Come with me.”

Without hesitation, Professor Oak could no longer sit still.

He led Aaron to the back mountain.

Having worked here for two years, Aaron was very familiar with this place—it was the habitat of Clefairy and Jigglypuff.

As expected, Professor Oak was planning to conduct his own investigation.

Aaron just didn’t know which Dragon-type Pokémon he intended to use for testing.

Just as he expected, Professor Oak stopped at the Pokémon’s habitat, selected three Clefairy and three Jigglypuff, then went back to his room and brought out a Poké Ball.

“My old partner, it’s time for you to help again.”

He released the Poké Ball.

A dragon-like Pokémon with an orange body appeared before them.

It had long, thin antennae and a small horn on its head.

Its cream-colored belly stripes extended all the way to the tip of its long tail.

Aaron’s eyes widened. Find the original chapter at g.com.

Damn… that’s a Kanto guardian Dragonite?!

Since when did Professor Oak have a Dragonite?!

“This is my first Pokémon,” Professor Oak explained with a smile, as if sensing Aaron’s confusion.

“We traveled together when I won the League Conference Championship back then.

You should work hard too.”

“You were a Champion too, Professor?” Aaron blinked.

“Wait… were you just bored of being invincible, so you became a researcher?”

“No,” Professor Oak replied calmly.

“I became a researcher because knowledge has no end.”

“Ah.” Aaron nodded vaguely.

So that’s it.

Completely opposite to him.

One retired from battling to study.

The other wanted to study first, then go battle.

Professor Oak didn’t continue the conversation.

Instead, he patted Dragonite’s smooth back.

“Old friend, I’ll need your help again.

Use the weakest possible Dragon Breath on these six Pokémon.”

Dragonite glanced at him, slightly puzzled—but still obeyed perfectly.

It opened its mouth and unleashed a controlled burst of Dragon Breath, engulfing the six Pokémon.

According to power standards, even holding back, this should have been enough to instantly defeat them.

But if a second typing truly existed, they would remain unharmed.

The attack landed.

The six Pokémon were unable to escape due to the massive level gap.

However, instead of pain, five of them showed no reaction at all.

Only one newly born Clefairy seemed slightly uncomfortable, showing a faint pained expression.

Professor Oak’s eyes lit up with excitement.

“Aaron, you’re a genius!

Your hypothesis might be correct—there truly exists a new Pokémon type capable of resisting Dragon-type attacks!”

He was practically dancing with excitement.

But Aaron, instead, frowned slightly.

Dragon beats Fairy should be completely ineffective—like Fighting against Ghost or Ground against Flying.

So why did that young Clefairy still show a hint of discomfort?
