[Extract rewards?]
Julian first glanced at the clock on the wall.
Only ten minutes had passed.
Yet during the Duraludon simulation, he had lived for almost four days.
Julian noticed there was also a detailed scoring breakdown, so he immediately opened it.
His score had reached B rank because he had occupied Steelix’s territory, escaped Melmetal’s pursuit, formed an alliance with Mawile, and escaped Aggron’s pursuit.
Level growth, survival time, and move improvement had barely contributed. Altogether, they accounted for less than twenty percent of the score.
From the scoring criteria, the simulator clearly encouraged him to go out and take risks.
Of course, going out gave higher rewards.
It also made him much easier to kill.
High risk, high reward.
Thinking back carefully, Julian realised that leaving the underground had been a mistake.
How could the simulator possibly send him somewhere safe?
There were only traps.
And bigger traps.
The surface world in this simulation was a perfect example. Not only had there been Tinkaton hunting Duraludon, but there had also been no resources Duraludon needed for growth.
He had already more or less figured out the situation on the first and second underground layers. He should have stayed underground and developed steadily.
Even eating ordinary rocks would have filled his stomach better than those few Oran Berries.
Next time, once he found enough resources for growth, he would not move location unless he had to.
System, extract the Dragon Essence
A blue-violet, diamond-shaped crystal appeared in front of Julian.
Then it sank directly into his chest, entering his heart before surging through his entire body with his blood.
Power...
Endless power!
Julian had never experienced the sensation of having a strong body before.
His originally thin frame rapidly filled out with muscle, becoming the kind of lean, toned build most people could only envy.
Just one Small Dragon Essence made him feel ten times stronger.
Because Julian genuinely felt that the current him could beat ten versions of his previous self.
This Dragon Essence was probably the type-based attribute reward the system had mentioned.
The powerful vitality of Dragon types.
When Julian checked his Dragon-Type Affinity again, he froze.
0.85
Before the simulation, his Dragon-Type Affinity had only been 0.59.
The B-rank evaluation had increased it by 0.1.
But after using the Dragon Essence, it had actually risen all the way to 0.85.
One Small Dragon Essence had increased his Dragon-Type Affinity by 0.16.
That was even higher than the reward from the B-rank evaluation.
There was only one possible explanation.
His physical foundation had been terrible.
Otherwise, a Small Dragon Essence would never have improved him this much.
And it was not only his Dragon-Type Affinity. After using the Dragon Essence, Julian’s affinity with every type had improved slightly.
The increase was nowhere near as large as Dragon, of course. It was Dragon Essence, after all.
Even so, Julian was almost moved to tears.
Naturally, his other type affinities were still very low.
But now that he had the Pokémon Simulator, Julian was no longer in a rush.
Back when his talent had been that bad, he had still endured.
If his mindset had been weak, he would have changed careers long ago.
Now that there was hope, Julian could be even more patient.
From 0.59 to 0.85.
That meant his training effect with Jangmo-o had improved by nearly half.
Unfortunately, he could not choose Dragon type for the next simulation.
Otherwise, Jangmo-o’s evolution would have been almost guaranteed.
Right.
There were still two item rewards.
Julian decided to take them out and have a look.
As for the Oran Berries, he magnificently ignored them.
Oran Berries?
What could Oran Berries do?
Come back after evolving into some miraculous treasure?
A Pokémon with a slightly larger appetite could eat hundreds of Berries in one meal.
Five Oran Berries would not even have filled Julian’s stomach before he used the Dragon Essence.
Julian got up and went to Veilstone Gym’s storage room.
System, extract Duraludon metal fragments and Steelix tail
Duraludon metal fragments appeared on the storage room floor.
Julian casually picked up one of the metal pieces, then could not help frowning.
This was not a metal fragment.
This was a crushed drink can.
Looking at the pieces, Julian could almost imagine what had happened after Duraludon was caught by Tinkaton.
These Duraludon metal fragments were clearly scraps left behind after Tinkaton used Duraludon’s metal to strengthen her hammer.
The scene must have been tragic.
Julian shuddered in perfect sympathy with his simulated remains.
For the moment, he could not think of any use for his own corpse.
Beside the fragments lay Steelix tail.
Its size was clearly wrong for Steelix’s body.
The whole thing was black, and it was less than twenty centimetres long.
Julian reached out to pick it up.
Then he realised that even with his strengthened body, he could not lift Steelix tail with one hand.
Only by using both hands did he finally manage to raise it.
Conveniently, there was a scale in the storage room.
He could weigh the pitch-black Steelix tail and see exactly how heavy it was.
Julian carried the tail towards the scale, only to notice a strange sluggishness in his body.
This was not just Steelix tail.
This was clearly a Lagging Tail.
He had not expected the raw material for a Lagging Tail to actually be Steelix tail.
Every Lagging Tail sold meant one innocent Steelix had died.
No demand, no slaughter.
Protect Steelix.
Julian paused.
Fine, that was a joke.
Lagging Tail probably was not made from Steelix tail.
Steelix’s tail was not like a Slowpoke tail. It did not grow back.
There was no way the League would allow a business like that to exist.
When he placed it on the scale, the Steelix tail weighed a full one hundred kilograms.
As for whether it truly slowed the holder’s action speed, he would have to test it with Jangmo-o tomorrow morning.
Julian carried the Lagging Tail around the storage room once.
Then he put it down.
To his surprise, he was not tired.
Before, forget carrying a hundred-kilogram Lagging Tail around the room.
He would not even have been able to lift it.
Julian was already beginning to look forward to the second simulation in seven days.
"Julian?"
Maylene appeared in the doorway, rubbing her eyes.
"What are you doing in the storage room this late?"
"I couldn’t sleep, so I thought I’d tidy up a little."
Maylene’s senses were sharp.
She walked over to Julian, tilted her head, and looked at him carefully.
"Julian, did you get stronger?"
Julian rubbed her head.
"Maybe my training has finally started paying off. Go back to bed."
Maylene’s eyes instantly lit up.
"Then does that mean Jangmo-o can evolve soon too?"
Julian smiled.
"Probably."
