Boom!

The stones collided with Shadow Ball in midair, causing a violent explosion.

However, the remaining stones continued tearing through the air toward Gastly.Full novel: Pokémon: My Starter Is the Crystal Onix — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Kekeke…”

Gastly quickly drifted through the air, dodging the Stone Edge attacks one after another.

However, quite a bit of the purple smoke surrounding its body was scattered by the air currents stirred up by the sharp stones.

“Kekeke, kekeke…”

Gastly looked at the Crystal Onix with lingering fear.

That attack just now had made it feel an enormous threat.

If it were hit even once, it would probably lose its ability to battle.

“It’s fast.” That was Jasper’s first impression.

Not a single one of the Stone Edge attacks just now had hit Gastly.

“Sandstorm!”

Jasper planned to restrict Gastly’s speed first.

After all, with the Crystal Onix’s enormous and heavy body, directly dealing with a high-speed Pokémon like Gastly that could also fly was somewhat difficult.

“Roar!”

When the Crystal Onix saw that all its attacks had been dodged by Gastly, it immediately let out a loud roar after hearing its master’s command, then swung its body.

In an instant, a sandstorm swept across the field, sending sand and stones flying everywhere.

“Kekeke, kekeke…”

Gastly cried out in panic.

It could no longer see its surroundings clearly, let alone where the Crystal Onix, which brought it tremendous pressure, would attack from.

On top of that, small stones kept striking its body, causing it a great deal of pain.

“Use Stone Edge again. Half power.”

“Kekeke!”

When Gastly heard Jasper’s voice, it became even more panicked and drifted back and forth through the air.

Clearly, this Gastly did not have much battle experience. This chapter is updated first at g.com.

The sandstorm caused no obstruction to the Crystal Onix at all.

The Crystal Onix let out a ferocious laugh, condensed several sharp stones around its body, then launched them through the air toward the panicked Gastly.

“Kekeke…”

Gastly let out a miserable cry in midair, then went silent.

Seeing this, Jasper directly had the Crystal Onix disperse the sandstorm.

He saw that Gastly had already fallen onto the field and lost its ability to battle.

Jasper quickly came to Gastly’s side, picked it up, and checked its injuries.

He had already told the Crystal Onix to hold back, but Gastly was the kind of fragile Pokémon with high Special Attack and high Speed.

That was why it had failed to withstand even a half-power Stone Edge from the Crystal Onix.

“Kekeke…” After waking up, Gastly lay in Jasper’s arms and cried out in disappointment, seeming discouraged that it had been defeated so quickly.

Jasper comforted Gastly.

“Don’t feel down. Crystal Onix has been with me for a long time, so that’s why it’s so strong. You’ll become stronger in the future too.”

“And once you evolve into Haunter and gain the ability to turn invisible, it won’t be so easy for it to deal with you.”

“Kekeke, kekeke, kekeke…” Gastly opened its big eyes and looked at Jasper with expectation written all over its face.

“Don’t worry. You’ll evolve into Haunter very soon,” Jasper said as he stroked Gastly’s black head.

“Kekeke, kekeke…”

Gastly happily flew several circles around Jasper in the air.

Then it stretched out its pitch-black, ice-cold tongue and “affectionately” licked Jasper’s face.

Numb.

He went numb.

Jasper visibly trembled from head to toe, then his entire body stiffened and collapsed to the ground.

The paralysis effect of Lick had triggered.

After treating Gastly’s injuries, Jasper brought Gastly back to his room.

Under Jasper’s strong insistence, Gastly finally gave up its unique way of showing affection: Lick.

Jasper did not choose to recall Gastly into its Poké Ball.

On one hand, he wanted to cultivate their bond.

After all, he had only just captured Gastly.

On the other hand, this Gastly was already close to the edge of evolution, and Jasper wanted it to evolve into Haunter as soon as possible.

However, Gastly still could not turn invisible right now.

Because of that, in the eyes of others, there was always a cloud of black-purple gas floating behind Jasper, occasionally letting out sinister “kekeke, kekeke…” laughter.

Just now, it had nearly scared his master’s children into fainting.

Fortunately, Jasper quickly explained things clearly to them and made Gastly apologize.

However, when the children saw Gastly’s appearance, they seemed even more frightened.

Jasper looked helplessly at this Gastly and silently thought, “Is it really that scary?”

“Kekeke…”

All right.

Jasper silently sighed in his heart.

Next, he had to think about how to deal with this Feebas.

After returning to his room, he filled the fish tank he had just bought with water, poured some clean white sand onto the bottom of the tank, and added some water-nourishing grass that was relatively common on the market.

With that, Feebas’s new home was complete.

Then he opened Feebas’s Poké Ball and placed it into the fish tank.

This Feebas showed no reaction at all to arriving in a new environment.

It simply stayed silently at the bottom of the water as before.

Perhaps to it, whether it was the aquarium in the underground black market or this small glass fish tank, they were all the same.

If not for the occasional bubbles coming out of its mouth, it would be hard to believe it was still alive.
