Varek walked past Karl.
He sat down on the couch beside the one Karl had been sitting on earlier.
Karl followed after him and took a seat.
“You don’t really believe them, right?”
Fear was starting to grip Karl’s heart.
While he hadn’t bothered to care about the words of the physicians and the servants earlier, Varek was different.
The moment he saw Varek sending the people out of the room without correcting their mistaken notion, a bad premonition began to grow in his heart.
Varek didn’t look like the type to joke around.
He was so powerful and special.
He wouldn’t joke around like the physicians and servants.
But the thought scared Karl.
It turned him pale.
He secretly hoped he was wrong.
Varek dropped the book on the table.
His deep blue eyes settled on Karl, and he softly nodded.
“Do you not want the child?” His voice was warm and calm.
“You’ve always wanted a child.
But if you don’t want one right now, we can do something about this.”
“A child?” Karl instinctively reached out to his stomach.
He was really carrying a child.
Could men carry children?
Why had no one ever told him?
Why had the charity base teachers never mentioned it?
Karl’s face paled slightly.
Could someone as weak as him birth a child without any complication?
He was scared.
Varek stared at his pale face, and he reached out, placing a hand on his.
“You can do whatever you want.
I’m here.”
Karl’s eyes lowered to the hand placed on his.
Long and slender fingers.
Soft, too.
His brows raised.
Varek looked so powerful.
Why wasn’t his hand rough like others?
Staring at the smooth and beautiful hand placed on his own small hand, Karl felt even more confused about this world.
He knew he had yet to regain the full memory of the original owner, and it made the whole thing really strange to him.
“I can give birth to the baby, right?” He asked in a whisper.
Perhaps he wouldn’t be so weak in this world.
Perhaps he could birth the child…
Karl hoped.
Varek raised a brow.
He seemed slightly confused.
But his lips still parted, “You can.” He replied.
Karl’s dim eyes slowly brightened.
“Really?
I can?”
“Hm.
You can.”
Karl beamed.
“I’m keeping the child then.” If he could really give birth to a child, that would be nice.
He would then have his own family, and he could also protect his child well.
Karl relaxed his back.
He thought about how shocked his parents would be if one day, they returned for him and found out he was already with a child.
He wondered if his parents would be ashamed.
If they would learn from him, how good it was to protect one’s child.
However, he knew that was impossible.
He had left that world, and maybe he might never be able to return.
Karl returned his attention to Varek, who was also staring back at him.
Seeing the man so close, Karl realized his eyes were really beautiful.
“Have you eaten?”
“Hm?” Varek seemed taken aback.
Karl frowned.
“You haven’t?”
That wasn’t a good thing.
He waved at one of the servants.
“Tell Rai to make more for the master.”
“Okay, Young Master.” The servant replied and quickly left.
Varek’s eyes narrowed slightly.
But he kept quiet.
Soon, the table was filled with several dishes.
Karl smiled brightly at Varek, encouraging him to eat before he began eating, too.
But that was only after he drank his medicine under Varek’s watch.
Karl couldn’t afford to lose his dignity before the man.
So, he drank the medicine and even smacked his lips, showing his fake excitement.
His stomach was empty.
When he tasted the first dish, his eyes widened, and he couldn’t stop eating after that.
“Eat something.
You’re so lean.”
Karl complained, putting dishes onto Varek’s plate.
Varek’s fingers twitched slightly.
He looked at the food inside the plate and then at Karl.
His lips tightened.
Karl failed to notice the tense air and Varek’s narrowed eyes.
All he wanted was to eat as much as he could.
Fortunately, he no longer threw up.
By the time Karl was done eating, the sky had darkened.
Rai made his bed.
“Young Master, the bath is ready.” He also announced.
“Oh?” Karl was surprised.
He glanced at his clean blue robes and his already washed hands.
Why did he still need a bath then?
He was so clean that he was almost sparkling.
What was he supposed to wash?
But Rai stood there, waiting for him.
Varek sat aside, chin resting on his hand while he looked at him.
Karl inwardly grumbled.
He stood up and followed Rai to the washroom.
He really didn’t understand why he needed to wash himself again…
“I’ll be outside, Young Master.” Rai pointed to the washroom.
Karl stepped in.
The washroom was big, almost as big as his room.
There was a large ‘hole’ at the center, filled with water and beautiful purple and red flowers.
Karl had never seen a bathroom so good and big in his life.
The bathroom back at the charity base was a tattered building.
Everyone would fetch water from the stream, take it into the bathroom, and wash themselves.
Well…
once a week.
Because people were really too much for a single bathroom.
Karl removed his robes and his inner underwear.
He tentatively stepped into the ‘hole’.
The warm water sipped into the pores of his skin.
He almost moaned.
An hour later.
Karl heard a knock on the door.
“Young Master, are you okay?”
“Ah, yes.
I am.” Karl’s voice was muffled.
His head appeared in the water.
A bright smile covered his face.
He stepped out, panting lightly.
He never knew bathing could be so fun.
He wore the new robes that had been prepared in the bathroom and stepped out.
“Where is Master?”
He asked.
Varek was nowhere to be found.
Rai bowed.
“His Grace had gone to bed.”
“Bed?” Weren’t they supposed to sleep together?
Karl shrugged.
It didn’t matter.
He walked toward the bed and sprawled on it.
Rai covered him up, bowed, and left.
Seeing the closed door, Karl threw the cover away and finally closed his eyes.
He hummed softly, luring himself to sleep.
“Waste.
Do you think you’re capable of saving someone with your pathetic strength?”
The man laughed.
It was that man; the same man who had killed him.
Karl was back in that place.
That broken building where he had breathed his last.
He stared at the man; panic showed in his eyes.
The panic he hadn’t dared show back then…
finally surfaced.
He crawled backward.
A hiss escaped his lips.
Lowering his eyes, he realized he was covered in blood.
His blue robe was torn and bloody.
The man continued to approach him.
The stick was in his hand.
The smile on his face was creepy.
“What made you think you can save others?”
“You killed my friend, you pathetic worm!”
He raised the stick and brought it down.
Karl covered his eyes.
A scream tore through his throat.
He didn’t want to die.
He had eaten so well during the day.
He had even met someone so powerful.
Karl didn’t want to die again.
He was…
pregnant.
“No!!!”
He gasped as his eyes snapped open.
Sweat dripped from his forehead, rolling down his chin.
His eyes darted around.
“Room.” He murmured, breathless.
He was really in the room.
Yet, his body wouldn’t stop trembling.
Karl climbed down his bed.
His legs wobbled slightly.
He grabbed his pillow, hugging it to his chest.
He left the room.
“Young Master.”
Karl’s heart skipped a beat.
“It’s me, Young Master.
Do you need something?” The person said, bowing.
Karl realized he was a servant.
He breathed in relief.
“Take me to the Master’s bedroom.”
The servant raised his head but refused to move.
Karl frowned.
“Do you not know the way?”
“Ah, I do.” He snapped out of his daze.
“Come with me, Young Master.”
The servant led Karl to the following building.
It was late at night.
Karl could barely see.
He followed the servant carefully until they stopped in front of a door, which looked really similar to his.
The servant bowed his head, turned around, and quickly rushed away without a word.
Karl didn’t mind.
He carefully opened the door and snuck in.
The room was just as big as his.
The furniture was much simpler, and there were only a few paintings on the wall.
Karl’s eyes settled on Varek on the bed.
The man slept straight.
His expression was serene.
It was a beautiful sight.
Karl breathed in relief when he saw him.
The fear in his heart reduced significantly.
Without a word, he raised the man’s blanket and snuck in.
“What are you doing?”
Karl’s body jerked.
He almost fell out of bed.
Varek grabbed his waist, pulling him closer.
“Careful.”
Karl snuggled into his embrace.
“I’m here to sleep.”
“You have your room.”
Karl’s lips pursed.
He nestled deeper into Varek’s chest.
“I want to sleep with my husband.” He whispered, the lingering fear in his heart finally dissipated.
‘Hm.
Varek can definitely beat that man.’
