[You have killed your first Human: New skill gained, Persuade]

The system rang out before me, but I had no time to check on it, I had to move fast. Under the shocked eyes of everyone here, I searched the guard and found the key. I very quickly freed myself using my teeth to insert the key, then I freed my legs.

I saw the eyes of everyone there, eager, wanting, I did not care, the plan must be carried out in full efficiency and that meant not wasting time being sympathetic.

I turned to the lady, knelt beside her and inserted the key, she watched in confusion while I did it, I freed her from her binds and then spoke.

"Come with me."

After I said that, I helped her to her feet and then tossed the key into the room for the other slaves to struggle for. That was the final part of my plan to escape, everyone would go after it like savages, it would cause a ruckus and pull the remaining guards here and when that happens I would be long gone.

I rushed out of the carriage, but then stopped at the door, I looked at the snitch who was also watching the whole havoc with confusion on what to do. He was the type of person I hated the most, he understood the law but yet could not take control of it.

He knew how to game, he knew how to get the best benefits but he did not know how to control one’s flow to make him powerful, he was a pitiful bottom feeder.

I looked away and rushed out while dragging her behind me.

"Keep your head low," I said as we rushed out. It was night, but there was the moon and it served as the light that we needed. Using that light, we rushed forward fast. A forest was not too far off and when we got there, we would be safe.

We made it halfway when the voices of the guards barking and yelling while rushing towards the carriage reached me. I turned and looked at them, all with torches in hand.

"We have to move faster," I said and pulled her along. She was weak and I could tell, but that was something she would have to push through for the sake of this escape.

After a few minutes, we made it to the edge of the forest. I looked back one last time and I saw the guards beating up slaves outside the carriage while a few ran and were rushed down and killed in seconds.

The scene was brutal, a reality that I created to ensure that I escaped. Like all my many actions, I held no remorse for what I had done. In fact, I viewed it as the best possible result. I had managed to survive, and that was all that mattered, no one deserved life, we could only earn life through our actions.

My father taught me that, nasty old man he was, but he spoke the truth a lot.

I walked into the forest and she followed along. I let go of her hand, but she followed and didn’t say anything. I knew that very soon some of the guards would head towards the forest because the snitch would yell everything to survive. But by the time that they came into the forest, I should have found a place to hide.

After traveling half a kilometer, I knew we had to find somewhere to stay. I needed to find water. My father had done a lot of outdoor activities with me when I was younger. Outdoors that involved throwing me into the wild with the barest of tools and having me survive for days.

I recall the time I came down with a deadly case of malaria and was too weak to even get myself out, he only came for me a day later and found me passed out and barely alive. He got me treated and after I recovered, he lectured me on how weak I was and how easily I could die.

I looked around for a downhill terrain, that would be the first sign of water. I searched for a bit and then finally found the direction I needed to go. I stepped forward and realized that she was not following, so I turned around and spoke to her.

"Is something wrong?" I asked.

She shook her head, but I could tell that there was, anyone could.

"They’ll be coming into the forest soon and they’ll take you. I know you are wondering why I helped you and why I’m helping you, you are scared of being used by someone else.

I have my reasons for helping you, but I want to promise you that it is in no way to hurt you. Come with me and I’ll keep you safe." I stretched out my hand to her, I did not have the energy right now for polishing my words.

She looked at my hands and then took it. I smiled and pulled her along. Somehow, I felt even more happy that she chose to follow me without me needing to drive the narrative very closely. It was a weird new feeling, I brushed it aside and kept moving.

My thoughts were right, the downward terrain spooked us close and I began to hear the sound of rushing water, I knew that we were close.

It seemed she heard it as well, I noticed her ears twitch and excitement form on her face.

We moved even faster at this point and soon the sparkling stream came into view. She let go of my hand and walked ahead of me for the first time, her eyes widened as she looked at the water. I guess they had starved her of water and food for so long.

"You can drink and bathe, it’s not really safe to drink straight but for lack of" I did not finish what I had to say before she rushed over to the water and began to gulp down hard on the water.
