“I thought you couldn’t beat him.”

Just after pulling his Adamantium blade free, a voice came from behind.

Alex turned around.Full novel: Psychic in Marvel World — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Wolverine had climbed back up the dam wall, his Adamantium claws embedded into the concrete.

Alex shrugged.

“Turns out he wasn’t as strong as I thought.”

Then he glanced at Logan.

“Honestly, I figured you’d end up as human paste.”

“Didn’t expect you to actually climb back up.”

“You underestimate me.”

Wolverine laughed heartily and pulled himself fully onto the dam.

Then he stood up and looked at Alex with admiration.

“You’re pretty incredible.”

“When I was your age…”

“I wasn’t even half as strong as you.”

“Of course.”

Alex curled his lips and replied without hesitation.

Internally though, he was thinking:

With these constantly evolving eyes of mine…

If I still couldn’t surpass you…

Wouldn’t I disgrace all transmigrators and anime nerds everywhere?

Wolverine burst out laughing.

“Pretty confident, aren’t you?”

Honestly, he was growing more and more fond of this kid.

Partly because they’d fought side by side.

But also because Alex’s personality matched his own tastes surprisingly well.

Under different circumstances, Logan would’ve dragged him into a bar already.

Several drinks.

Drink until they blacked out.

“Once we’re out…”

“I’ve gotta drink with this kid.”

Thinking that, Wolverine felt a little regretful.

Wrong place.

Wrong time.

“Confidence is as natural to me as breathing.”

As he spoke, Alex wiped the blood from the Adamantium dagger in his hand and slid it back into the sheath.

Then he gripped his Adamantium sword again.

“Now that everything’s over—”

RUMBLE!!!

Suddenly—

Violent explosions echoed beneath them.

The entire dam began shaking violently.

Large chunks of concrete broke apart and fell downward like heavy rain.

BOOM!!

BOOM!!

BOOM!!

Weapon XI’s vitality had been absurdly strong.

Even after decapitation, he hadn’t died instantly.

While his severed head tumbled down the dam—

The laser beams from his eyes had continued firing wildly.

And those beams were terrifying.

Everywhere they hit—

Concrete split apart.

Walls collapsed.

The expensive dam simply couldn’t withstand that level of destruction.

And now—

It was collapsing.

Rapidly.

Alex and Wolverine exchanged glances.

The shaking beneath them grew stronger and stronger.

Soon they could barely stand.

Then—

“RUN!!”

The next moment—

Both jumped.

Straight off the dam.

Over a hundred meters high.

For normal people—

Death.

Even most mutants would’ve become meat paste.

But Alex and Wolverine?

Neither was normal.

SHHHHHK!!

Wolverine plunged his Adamantium claws into sections of the dam that hadn’t collapsed yet.

Using them, he slid downward rapidly but safely.

Meanwhile—

Alex continuously kicked off walls and used his blade to redirect momentum during the fall.

Step.

Slide.

Leap.

Step.

He descended at nearly the same speed as Wolverine.

RUMBLEEEEE!!

The dam collapsed rapidly.

Massive chunks of debris crashed downward all around them.

But with their reflexes—

Avoiding falling concrete wasn’t difficult.

They moved smoothly through the chaos.

Like bullets weaving through gunfire.

Then finally—

BOOOOOOM!!!

The terrifying laser beams stopped.

And the dam…

Completely collapsed.

Countless building fragments smashed into the ground.

The impact spread like earthquakes.

Dust exploded everywhere.

Even the endless ocean winds couldn’t clear the smoke quickly.

Visibility dropped below two meters.

Fortunately—

Just before total collapse—

Alex and Wolverine reached the ground safely.

The two exchanged a look.

Then burst out laughing.

No stopping.

No resting.

Immediately—

They ran.

Because standing around while giant debris rained from the sky?

Only idiots did that.

While running, Alex suddenly called out:

“Your gir—”

He almost choked.

“…Your girlfriend is this way.”

“Follow me.”

Hearing that, Wolverine didn’t answer immediately.

Instead—

He hesitated.

A moment later:

“…Fine.”

Alex raised an eyebrow.

“Hm?”

He found Logan’s hesitation strange.

But didn’t ask.

Digging too much only annoyed people.

And honestly—

That wasn’t Alex’s style.

The reason for Wolverine’s hesitation was simple:

Silver Fox.

Kara.

She’d once faked her death and deceived him.

To Logan—

That betrayal wasn’t easy to accept.

When Alex mentioned “girlfriend,” Logan had genuinely considered turning around and leaving.

Avoiding her entirely.

But Wolverine was Wolverine.

After a brief struggle—

He decided to face it directly.

Clear everything up.

Alex easily kept pace beside Logan.

For someone who could move at eighty meters per second—

This speed wasn’t difficult at all.

Meanwhile, Wolverine secretly looked surprised.

“Powerful swordsmanship…”

“Ridiculous speed…”

“This kid…”

“Just how strong is he?”

WHOOSH!!

The two figures raced toward the island shore.

Meanwhile—

Out at sea—

Two military vessels loaded with soldiers and advanced weaponry rapidly approached.

The American flags above them made their identities obvious.

Standing on the shore waiting—

Was Stryker.

Still wearing his white coat.

Through portable monitoring equipment, he’d personally witnessed everything.

Weapon XI losing his head.

Alex devouring the body.

Sabretooth fleeing miserably.

Everything.

“Damn it…”

“I can’t believe Weapon XI was that useless!”

Seeing his reinforcements arrive, Stryker’s expression twisted with rage.

Weapon XI had been his masterpiece.

His greatest hope.

And now—

Gone.

Seeing Alex and Wolverine still perfectly alive, Stryker quickly understood something:

Even with Adamantium bullets—

He wasn’t their opponent.

To continue his dream—

To erase every mutant from the world—

He forcibly suppressed his anger.

Changed plans immediately.

And called American forces to extract him.

The ocean wind blew his hair tightly against his scalp.

But the determination in his eyes only intensified.

One day…

He swore—

He would destroy all mutants.

No matter what.

“Mutants threaten humanity.”

“They must be eliminated.”
