Chapter 12: Fractured Masks and Playing Dirty

Puck Me Harder: A Stepbrother Romance [BL]

Damon’s POV

Noah was gripping the frame of my passenger door so tightly his knuckles went completely white. If he actually had the physical power to snap the carbon fiber in half, he probably would have done it right then and there.

His sharp, icy eyes were glued entirely to Micah. The poor kid looked completely frozen, paralyzed with shock at the sudden sight of his big brother standing over us. I leaned back against my leather seat, a wave of genuine amusement washing over me. This was becoming incredibly fun.

I stretched my arm across the console, deliberately sliding my fingers through Micah’s soft, messy hair. Micah flinched hard, snapping his head around to glare at me with pure venom. I could see the desperate urge to strike me in his eyes, but he stayed completely still. He knew exactly what I had on him. He knew about the recording.

"You should probably head to your class now, Micah," I murmured, offering him a lazy smile as he started to scramble out of the low car. "Let’s take another ride together real soon. Maybe next time, you will be the one riding me."

Micah choked on his breath, stumbling a bit as he stepped onto the pavement. He ended up standing directly in front of Noah.

Noah didn’t even look at me. His entire focus remained locked onto his little brother.

"Noah," Micah whispered, his voice trembling as he called his name.

Noah’s handsome face shifted, turning completely cold and detached. "You disgust me," he said, his tone flat.

Those three words hit Micah like a physical blow. I could see the visible tremor that ran through the kid’s shoulders, looking like he was about to collapse straight onto the concrete. I knew exactly how much Micah worshiped the ground his brother walked on under the guise of innocent family admiration. Watching him look that deeply shattered actually twinged something in my chest.

Poor little guy. A small part of me honestly wished I could reach out, pull him back into the car, and hug him. I wanted to tell him that all men are absolute fools, except for me, of course.

But Micah didn’t say another word. He turned around, keeping his head down as he began to walk away toward the journalism building, his form practically vibrating with hurt.

The moment Micah was far enough away, Noah finally snapped his attention back to me. The golden-retriever mask was entirely gone now.

"What exactly did you do to my brother, Damon?" he demanded, stepping closer to the car.

"Why do you care? Are you really that curious, captain?" I relaxed completely in my seat, locking my hands behind my head. "I already asked you earlier how you would feel if I started dating him, and you didn’t give me any response. Oh, wait." I paused, dramatically tapping my chin. "Was that locker room beatdown your official response? Are you trying to tell me no?"

"You absolute bastard!" Noah snarled, raising his fist and punching the roof of my sports car with a loud bang.

I didn’t even blink. If he managed to dent the metal, I could easily buy a brand new one by tomorrow morning.

"If you ever lay your filthy hands on my brother again," Noah whispered, his voice dropping into a dark, guttural promise, "I will personally chop you into pieces. And I will make sure I do it right in front of Micah’s face."

A wide grin spread across my face. This was exactly what I wanted.

"Oh, wow. So you are finally willing to show him this side of yourself?" I climbed out of the driver’s seat, stepping onto the pavement and walking around the hood until I was standing directly in front of him. We were practically the exact same height, but his eyes were somehow even colder than the ice we played on. "I honestly cannot wait to see if Micah prefers the original, psychotic version of Noah or the fake, holy version you play at home."

If we weren’t standing right in the middle of a busy campus courtyard, I was completely certain Noah would have tried to smash my skull against the windshield.

"I am not going to warn you a second time, Silver. Keep your hands off Micah," Noah said, turning on his heel to leave. "And don’t forget about evening practice. As the vice captain, you really cannot afford to be late."

He walked away, leaving me standing by my car. I could still hear the heavy mockery dripping from his voice when he threw that title in my face. Vice captain.

I folded my arms over my chest, watching his broad back disappear into the crowd. I could vividly remember the exact moment Noah had officially become my enemy. It started because I accidentally uncovered his deepest, darkest secret. But when I tried to use it to threaten him, the blackmail failed completely because he had already gone behind my back and wiped out every single shred of physical evidence.

He thought he was entirely untouchable now. I narrowed my eyes, a dark promise settling in my gut. I am absolutely certain he has a lot more secrets hidden away, and I am going to personally dig up every single one of them.

I looked down at my hands, feeling the lingering frustration in my body. My evening was completely ruined thanks to our beloved captain, and I still needed to find a local bar to relieve the pressure that Micah had failed to finish in the front seat.

I rubbed my chin, a wicked thought crossing my mind as I pictured the preacher’s son crying in my lap. Maybe I really should have just fucked Micah right there in the car when I had the chance. But then again, what was the rush?

I could always just find a way to sneak straight into the pastor’s house and fuck him right in the comfort of his own bed.
