AUTHOR’S POV
The car stopped in front of the hospital.
The moment it did—
Percy opened the door.
“Move!”
The hospital staff immediately brought a wheelchair.
But Percy didn’t put Jay down.
He carried her himself.
Her head rested against his chest.
Her eyes remained closed.
Her face was pale.
“Doctor!” Percy shouted.
“She’s unconscious!”
A nurse immediately rushed toward them.
“Sir, please put her on the stretcher.”
Percy carefully placed Jay down.
He didn’t let go of her hand.
“She’s pregnant.”
The nurse immediately looked at him.
“How far along?”
“About a month.”
“And?”
Percy’s jaw tightened.
“Five.”
The nurse’s eyes widened slightly.
“Five babies?”
Percy nodded.
“Yes.”
The medical team immediately rushed Jay toward the emergency examination room.
Percy tried following.
A nurse stopped him.
“Sir, please wait outside.”
Percy stared at her.
“I’m staying with her.”
“Sir—”
“She’s staying with me.”
His voice was dangerously calm.
The nurse looked toward the doctor.
The doctor finally nodded.
“Let him stay.”
Percy immediately followed.
OUTSIDE THE ROOM
ASTRA stood in the hallway.
Kade was pacing.
Raphel kept looking toward the emergency room.
Kevin was unusually silent.
Nobody was joking anymore.
Thyme finally spoke.
“She was fine five minutes ago.”
Ren nodded.
“She wasn’t fine.”
MJ looked at him.
“What?”
Ren sighed.
“She was pretending.”
Cole looked toward the emergency room.
“That’s Jay.”
Sam nodded.
“She’ll fight anyone.”
Kade’s jaw tightened.
“But she shouldn’t have to fight everything.”
Raphel looked down.
“She needs rest.”
Nobody answered.
Because they all knew.
Jay had been exhausted for days.
And today…
she had been kidnapped.
Forced to fight dozens of people.
Threatened with a gun.
And then somehow…
she still asked for ice cream.
Kevin suddenly whispered,
“She asked for ice cream.”
Everyone looked at him.
Kevin’s eyes became sad.
“And then she collapsed.”
Kade sighed.
“When she wakes up, I’m buying her the biggest ice cream available.”
Raphel nodded.
“Same.”
MJ raised his hand.
“Make that all of us.”
INSIDE
The doctor examined Jay.
Blood pressure.
Pulse.
Oxygen.
Then the doctor looked at the monitor.
Everything appeared stable.
The doctor sighed in relief.
“Her vitals are stable.”
Percy finally breathed.
“What happened?”
“She likely collapsed from exhaustion and stress.”
Percy looked at Jay.
“Is she okay?”
“Yes.”
“The babies?”
The doctor checked the monitor again. Read this novel at g.com for the best experience.
“The pregnancy is stable.”
Percy’s shoulders finally relaxed.
“Thank God.”
The doctor looked at Jay’s injuries.
“There are some cuts on her hands and legs.”
Percy looked down at her.
He noticed the small bandages.
His expression hardened.
“How bad?”
“Nothing severe.”
Percy nodded.
“Okay.”
The doctor smiled faintly.
“She should wake up soon.”
Percy sat beside the bed.
He held Jay’s hand carefully.
“Thank you.”
The doctor left.
The room became quiet.
Percy looked at her.
“You scared me.”
No response.
He gently brushed some hair away from her face.
“You always do this.”
Still nothing.
“You fight everyone.”
A tiny smile appeared on his face.
He shook his head.
“Who does that?”
Silence.
Percy’s smile disappeared.
“But then…”
His voice became softer.
“You collapsed.”
He squeezed her hand.
“Don’t do that again.”
OUTSIDE
The hospital doors opened.
Kade looked up.
Jack entered.
He immediately walked toward ASTRA.
“Sir.”
Percy wasn’t outside.
Kade looked at him.
“What?”
“Everything at the scene has been handled.”
Kade nodded.
“What about Section E?”
“They’ve been taken home.”
“Good.”
Jack hesitated.
“Sir…”
Kade looked at him.
“What?”
“They’re asking questions.”
Kade sighed.
“Of course they are.”
Jack nodded.
“They saw him.”
Everyone knew exactly who he meant.
Percy.
The man everyone believed had died four years ago.
MEANWHILE…
At Section E’s side of the city…
nobody was talking normally.
Everyone was still processing what they had witnessed.
Aris sat silently.
Yuri was staring at the floor.
Felix hadn’t said a word since they left.
Drew kept replaying the moment in his head.
Ci-N finally broke the silence.
“That was Percy.”
Nobody answered.
David looked at him.
“We all saw him.”
Eman shook his head.
“But Percy died.”
Aris suddenly spoke.
“He didn’t.”
Everyone looked at him.
Aris’s eyes were filled with disbelief.
“I knew him.”
He swallowed.
“I knew him better than most of you.”
Yuri whispered,
“Four years…”
Felix finally looked up.
“Kuya…”
His voice broke.
“He’s alive.”
Nobody knew what to say.
Then Keifer stood.
Everyone looked at him.
His expression was unreadable.
But inside…
everything was falling apart.
Percy was alive.
The same Percy who had been his best friend.
The same Percy who had disappeared four years ago.
And now…
he was holding Jay.
Calling her baby.
Keifer clenched his fists.
Why?
BACK AT THE HOSPITAL
Jay’s fingers moved slightly.
Percy immediately noticed.
“Baby?”
Her eyelashes moved.
Slowly…
Jay opened her eyes.
She looked around.
Then saw Percy.
“Perse…”
Percy immediately leaned closer.
“Hey.”
Jay blinked.
“Hospital?”
“Yes.”
She frowned.
“Why?”
Percy stared at her.
“You fainted.”
Jay thought for a second.
“Oh.”
Percy stared at her.
“That’s it?”
Jay looked at him.
“What else should I say?”
Percy almost laughed.
“You scared me.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Don’t say sorry.”
Jay smiled weakly.
“Then what?”
“Just don’t do it again.”
Jay looked toward the ceiling.
“I’ll try.”
Percy shook his head.
“That’s not a promise.”
Jay smiled.
“Fine.”
She looked at him.
“I promise.”
Percy finally relaxed.
Then Jay suddenly remembered something.
“I want ice cream.”
Percy stared at her.
“You just woke up.”
“Yes.”
“And that’s the first thing you say?”
Jay nodded.
“Yes.”
Percy laughed.
“You’re unbelievable.”
Jay smiled.
“You promised.”
“I didn’t.”
“You were going to.”
Percy sighed dramatically.
“Fine.”
He looked toward the door.
“Someone get her ice cream.”
Outside, Kevin immediately shouted—
“DONE!”
Jay laughed softly.
Percy looked back at her.
For a few seconds…
everything felt normal again.
Then Jay’s smile slowly disappeared.
“Perse…”
“Hmm?”
“They saw you?.”
Percy became silent.
Jay looked at him.
“Keifer.”
Percy understood.
“Yes.”
“They know you’re alive.”
Percy nodded.
“I know.”
Jay’s expression became serious.
“What are you going to do?”
Percy looked at her.
“Nothing.”
Jay frowned.
“Nothing?”
“Not yet.”
He gently squeezed her hand.
“Right now…”
He looked at her.
“You’re more important.”
Jay stared at him for a moment.
Then quietly nodded.
But neither of them knew…
that outside the hospital walls…
the past they had hidden for four years…
had finally come back.
