17 – The Cannon Fodder Female Supporting Character of a Wealthy Family Seventeen

Jiang Huai turned and walked out the door, using a flick of Divine Power to lock it behind her.

The system watched as its host employed Divine Power again, but couldn’t bring itself to comment—after all, she hadn’t harmed anyone in the Small World, had she?Full novel: Quick Transmigration: The Villain Rolls Freely in My Palm — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Oh well. Since the heavenly principles hadn’t struck with thunder, it should be fine.

Once outside the private room, the thought of having touched that scumbag father Lin made her feel so uncomfortable that she decided to wash her hands in the restroom.

She glanced up at the ornate ceiling, spotted the directional sign, and followed it to the restroom.

Gu Yunze was currently negotiating business with a major conglomerate from abroad. The client was particularly fond of ancient Chinese culture, so Gu Yunze had brought his assistant to entertain them at the renowned Flow Moon Manor in Beijing.

Having not seen Jiang Huai for two days, Gu Yunze had been in a sour mood. He had downed two entire bottles of red wine before sealing a contract worth hundreds of billions.

Speaking fluent English with a London accent, his face slightly flushed from excessive drinking, Gu Yunze said, “Skyler, please enjoy your drink. I need to use the restroom!”

Skyler looked up with a smile and nodded. With his thick eyebrows, large eyes, high nose bridge, and deep-set features, he replied, “OK!”

Seeing Gu Yunze’s drunken state, his assistant worriedly offered, “President, let me accompany you!”

“No need. Stay here and keep Skyler company.”

On the elegant second-floor corridor.

Gu Yunze walked while loosening his tie with one hand, revealing his attractive Adam’s apple. His white shirt hinted at the contours of his chest muscles, and his long legs moved with steady, graceful strides.

Jiang Huai emerged from the restroom with a black bag slung over her shoulder. The hem of her shirt jacket swayed lazily with her movements, her expression calm and refined.

After walking a short distance.

He turned right, she turned left.

Gu Yunze found himself colliding squarely with someone. That faint, familiar fragrance teased his memory, but his drunken haze made it elusive. Realizing it was a woman, he abruptly pushed her away.

Somewhat intoxicated and assuming she was a woman throwing herself at him, he coldly snapped without even seeing her face, “Get lost!””

Jiang Huai looked up—why was it him again, and so drunk at that? They hadn’t seen each other for two days, and now he was telling her to get lost? Sure enough, ignoring him had quickly made him lose interest. She was just about to step around him when—

Gu Yunze finally remembered whose scent that was. His deep eyes focused intently on the woman, his pupils reflecting the image of Jiang Huai, the one who had kept him tossing and turning sleepless.

Seeing her attempt to leave without acknowledging him, his large hand seized her smooth, slender arm. With a sudden forceful pull, he spun her around and pressed her against the corridor wall, leaning down slightly to look at her.

His voice was plaintive, the tone lingering, “Huai Huai, why do you always ignore me? What’s wrong with me? Tell me! Why are you avoiding me…”

Huai Huai’s body was so soft, utterly pliant.

Jiang Huai felt the heat of his breath as he spoke, washing over her senses. Uncomfortable, she tilted her head away, her face warming slightly, and muttered softly, “I’m not avoiding you…”

She tried to break free by gripping his arms firmly, but Gu Yunze’s arm strength was immense—he held her pinned, immobile. The veins on his hands bulged, as if he were exerting great force.

A flicker of obsession passed through Gu Yunze’s deep eyes. “So you’re just disregarding me then… Why can’t you be a little more obedient…” His gaze fell on her fair, delicate collarbone, the corners of his eyes reddening. His voice dropped to a low, husky whisper, “Be good, let me kiss you. I’ve been yearning so much it aches deep in my heart…”Gu Yunze had never imagined that a single glance at her would plunge him into an irresistible infatuation, as if he had longed for this moment across countless lifetimes…

Before Jiang Huai could react, he abruptly lowered his head and nipped at her slender, pale collarbone.

In that instant, Jiang Huai felt an electric tingle surge through her entire body. What sorcery was this? Summoning all her strength, she finally shoved Gu Yunze away.

She couldn’t use Divine Power against him—how infuriating.

Putting some distance between them, she glared at him with displeasure. “Get away from me! What did you just do to me?”

That electric sensation nearly made her suspect he had harnessed lightning itself.

Having lived alone in Divine Abyss Country since the age of five and never ventured into matters of intimacy, Jiang Huai had always focused solely on cultivation.

She had only a vague understanding of such things, mostly gleaned from novels where such scenes were glossed over. She had no idea what that unfamiliar feeling meant.

Gu Yunze, now pushed away, gazed at her with slightly reddened eyes, his pupils sparkling like stars. His lips curved into a faint smile as he noticed the faint red mark on her collarbone. With starry eyes and gleaming teeth, his charm was utterly captivating.

His voice was low and husky with amusement. “Huai Huai, so well-behaved!”

Jiang Huai felt her heart inexplicably racing. Shooting him a look as if he were insane, she turned and hurried away,

as if fleeing from some monstrous beast.

A meaningful smile tugged at Gu Yunze’s lips as he murmured in a low, melodious voice, “Huai Huai, so adorable!”

Her innocent, clueless expression lingered in his mind, refusing to fade.

Unable to conceal his delight, Gu Yunze freshened up in the restroom before returning to the private room.

Shi Sikai noticed his business partner’s radiant demeanor and asked curiously, “Gu, did you have some romantic encounter?”

His assistant was equally intrigued. After all, the CEO had been gloomy for days—a stark contrast to his current beaming expression.

Gu Yunze pulled out a chair and sat down, chuckling lightly. “Just ran into a feisty little kitten, that’s all.”

Shi Sikai flashed a roguish grin. “Say no more!”

…

Jiang Huai made her way downstairs and hailed a taxi back to the hotel.

For some reason, Gu Yunze’s starry-eyed, radiant image kept surfacing in her mind. Had she lost her senses?

Setting aside her previous biases, she had to admit he was exceptionally handsome. His tall, imposing frame perfectly matched her past ideals for a partner—though he was merely a mortal.

Moreover, while she was destined to live out this lifetime in this world, there were still many days ahead. It was better to avoid the pain of separation.

A love that couldn’t last wasn’t worth starting. Besides, how could a man of his power and status remain devoted to one person forever?

What Jiang Huai had always wanted was someone who would stand by her, indulge her whims, join her in mischief, and love her steadfastly for all eternity. But did such a love even exist in this world?

Having grown up alone since childhood, she had no shortage of resilience. Yet, she yearned to be cherished above all else—though such devotion was rare and precious.

Back at the hotel, Jiang Huai booted up her computer and played the footage from the micro-camera.

Sure enough, the three of them were entangled in an inseparable mess. Jiang Huai sneered inwardly. Would Lin Shangyu, after pleasing those two men, secure the massive funds needed to save his company?

Hah, she wondered if he would break down upon waking. She’d love to see the look on his face—it would be utterly entertaining, she mused with wicked amusement.

Suddenly, her stomach growled. It was already 11 p.m.!Jiang Huai thought about it and ordered takeout spicy crayfish, choosing the one with the best reviews.

When the delivery arrived, she ate while watching a psychological medicine documentary.

By 2 a.m., she finally went to take a shower.

In a place unknown to Jiang Huai, thick smoke suddenly began to billow…
