4 – Saving the Village Demon
Lu Li clearly hadn’t expected Qin Yue to pull such a move and was instantly dumbfounded.
He quickly snapped out of it, covering Qin Yue’s mouth with his hand. “Yue Yue, have you lost your mind! You’ll draw the attention of people outside!”
Qin Yue appeared panicked, struggling incessantly. “Mmph… Let go of me…”
Lu Li didn’t dare release her, tightening his grip instead. Qin Yue fought back with all her might. He hadn’t anticipated that the usually gentle girl could be so strong when enraged—so much so that he could barely restrain her.
A vicious glint flashed in Lu Li’s eyes. Driven by irrationality, he thought of strangling Qin Yue. But just as his hands moved toward her neck, the door was violently slammed open.
“Bastard! Let go of my daughter!” The village chief, Qin Zhong, swung his club with such force that it whistled through the air.
Lu Li failed to dodge in time, taking a heavy blow to his shoulder. The pain contorted his face.
“Dad! You’re finally here! If you’d been any later, this beast would have defiled me! This beast, he… he…” Qin Yue couldn’t finish, her eyes red from crying as she threw herself into her father Qin Zhong’s arms.
The crowd was stunned. Weren’t they told that Qin Yue, that shameless woman, had seduced Lu Li into eloping? How did she end up accusing him first?
Glancing at Lu Li, who was only in his underpants, and Qin Yue, disheveled and disrobed, the onlookers grew suspicious.
Furious, Qin Zhong comforted his daughter briefly before grabbing Lu Li by the hair and yanking him up. “You scum! How dare you lay a hand on my daughter?!” He threw a punch, instantly turning Lu Li’s face swollen and bruised.
“Ah!” Lu Li let out a strange cry, clutching his face. He forced a smile at Qin Yue. “Yue Yue, didn’t we agree to elope together? You said we’d go somewhere no one could find us, where I’d farm and you’d weave, living like immortals. Why did you change your mind all of a sudden?”
As soon as he finished speaking, a few women began whispering among themselves.
“See, I knew Qin Yue had that vixen’s face—she’s a pro at seducing men. I was right; it’s exactly as I thought.”
“Exactly. I’ve watched Lu Li grow up; he’s always been honest since childhood. He’d never do something like this unless that little vixen led him astray.”
“How could the village chief, such an upright man, have such a shameless daughter? His reputation is utterly ruined now.”
In the original world, Village Chief Qin Zhong lost his authority among the villagers due to the Qin Yue incident. Coupled with heavy losses from a fierce battle and his own severe injuries, he soon died filled with resentment. After his death, the residents of Fusu Village either perished or fled, and the village ceased to exist.
“Dad, that’s not what happened…” Qin Yue wept profusely, as if she had suffered immense injustice. “It was this beast who insisted on eloping with me. I refused, so he knocked me out with a club when I wasn’t paying attention and carried me here. He was about to assault me when I woke up. If you hadn’t arrived with everyone in time, he would have defiled me. Waaah!”
Qin Yue cried like a waterfall, reaching a dramatic peak when she pushed the village chief away and rushed headfirst toward the wall. “I don’t want to live anymore! I’m only eighteen, and my reputation has been ruined by this scoundrel! Living on would only smear the village’s name! Don’t anyone try to stop me—let me die!”
Her head thudded against the wall, though she hadn’t used any real force, merely putting on a show. Then, she feigned collapse, falling to the ground with closed eyes as if she had fainted. At this point, everyone panicked. If they hadn’t been forced into desperation, who would gamble with their own lives!
