How I wish everything I saw yesterday was fake.

Lu Wan specifically asked the teacher for the overall grade ranking today, and sure enough, that little bitch Ruan Xing’s name was near the top.

That alone was bad enough, but what nearly made her jaw drop was Ruan Xing’s math score—it was actually zero. She… she actually turned in a blank math paper? How could someone who turned in a blank paper still rank 45th in the grade? It’s impossible. She must have used some underhanded method. Otherwise, how could this happen?

At noon, Ruan Xing was eating in the cafeteria when she felt a chilling aura sweeping toward her from afar. Looking up, the handsome face before her grew clearer, and instantly, she lost all appetite. She was full.

Without saying a word, she grabbed Wu Jiali and found a seat far away from him.

Watching that slender figure disappear from his sight, Huo Jing’s grip on his tray tightened, his knuckles turning white.

His eyes darkened ominously, his Adam’s apple bobbed, and a trace of ferocity flickered across his face.

Chen Ye sensed the cold intensity and volunteered, “Brother Jing, that damn girl doesn’t know what’s good for her.” Should I go teach her a lesson and show her who’s boss?”

A few others nearby seemed eager too, as if waiting for his nod to beat Ruan Xing up.

Hearing this, Huo Jing slowly turned around and cast a cold, piercing glare at the group behind him.

They were instantly forced back by his sinister gaze.

Finally away from that person, Ruan Xing’s mood immediately brightened.

“Ruan Ruan, what’s really going on between you and Huo Jing now?” Wu Jiali, still shaken by the tense standoff between the two, asked cautiously.

“I have no relationship with him, and there won’t be one in the future.” Everything she suffered in her past life was tied to Huo Jing—he was her disaster. She had to stay far away from him.

Ruan Xing was completely out of her control now, and Lu Wan was growing increasingly uneasy. With Ruan Xing changing so much all of a sudden, she had no idea what Huo Jing was thinking.

Her anxiety mounting, Lu Wan couldn’t take it anymore and decided to seek out Huo Jing.

Huo Jing was surprised when he was called out of Class 8 by Lu Wan.

As soon as he stepped out, the classroom erupted in chatter.

“Damn, the great goddess Lu actually came to our class to find Brother Jing!” This is rare!”All of Jing Ge’s persistent efforts and silent devotion are finally paying off.” I bet he’ll win her over soon.”

“Goddess Lu is so much more pleasant to look at. That meek, submissive look of Ruan Xing’s is just annoying.”

“Exactly, how can two girls be so different? Only a poised, confident girl like Goddess Lu is worthy of our Jing brother.”Brother Jing, you better seize this opportunity.””

…

It had always been Huo Jing who sought out Lu Wan before; she had never come to him, not even once.

“What’s wrong, Wan Wan?” Though his mind was full of questions, he softened his voice, making it sound gentler than usual.

“Brother Jing, I truly had no other choice but to come to you. My younger sister has been ignoring me lately, and I don’t know what’s wrong. Could you help me ask her?” Lu Wan spoke neither humbly nor arrogantly, her demeanor alone enough to win many people’s favor.

Huo Jing’s face darkened immediately upon hearing this, revealing a look of disgust.

“All she does all day is give you attitude. What else can she do besides that? Why even bother with her?” His tone was far from pleasant.

Seeing his attitude, Lu Wan felt much more at ease. At least she now knew Huo Jing still deeply liked her and continued to loathe Ruan Xing.

But to maintain appearances in front of Huo Jing, Lu Wan added, “Brother Jing, please help me. My sister doesn’t mean it – it must be that I’ve done something wrong to upset her.”

“What could you possibly have done wrong? She treats you like that, yet you still speak up for her. Why are you so kind?”

A flicker of amusement passed through Lu Wan’s eyes.

Hah, Ruan Xing, what does it matter if your grades are good? You still can’t win Huo Jing’s affection. See? Huo Jing has only ever had eyes for me. He only likes me.

You’ll never compare to me.

When the last class ended, Ruan Xing rushed out of the classroom. Just as she stepped through the door, she collided with tremendous force. Completely unprepared, Ruan Xing’s nose throbbed with sharp pain.

This seemed to be her fault – if she hadn’t been rushing out so hastily, she wouldn’t have bumped into anyone. She was about to apologize “Sor…” when she looked up and saw the face she least wanted to see – one she utterly detested.

After regaining her composure, Ruan Xing covered her injured nose and tried to walk around the person in front of her. But before she could take two steps, a powerful force clamped around her wrist and yanked her back violently. Stumbling, she found herself face-to-face with that person.

“What do you want?” Ruan Xing snapped irritably, her nose burning with pain, her tone openly annoyed.

Meeting Ruan Xing’s icy gaze, Huo Jing felt instant rage surge through him.

He had originally intended to speak with her calmly, but remembering how her first reaction upon seeing him was to leave, combined with her current expression, made him unable to control his anger.

“Ruan Xing, are you insane? Why do you keep giving Wanwan attitude all day? What has she ever done to wrong you? Why do you have to be so harsh?”

Upon hearing his words, Ruan Xing actually laughed.

So Lu Wan had been stirring up trouble. No wonder.

With such a big scene, she thought she had dug up his family grave or committed some unforgivable capital offense. Turns out he was just defending his beloved.

She couldn’t help but sneer.

“So all this fuss is for your sweetheart. What an absolutely perfect boyfriend. Lu Wan is truly fortunate.” These two were really quite well-matched, Ruan Xing thought, genuinely hoping they would get together soon so they’d stop bothering her.

Huo Jing hadn’t meant to speak to her like this. He had planned to back off if she showed any remorse, but he never expected Ruan Xing to respond with such words.

Staring at her, Huo Jing hoped to detect something in her expression, but all he saw was her completely unbothered, indifferent face.

Instantly, his temples throbbed, and anger surged through him once more.

“Ruan Xing, can you not be so vicious? Sister has never spoken a single bad word about you, yet you say such things about her. How utterly excessive.”

Vicious? She was vicious? Was he blind? “Don’t worry, Lu Wan would probably be secretly delighted to hear me say this.” Ruan Xing deliberately ignored the coldness in Huo Jing’s eyes and recklessly continued speaking.

“You…” Huo Jing found himself unable to utter another word.

Suddenly meeting Ruan Xing’s icy gaze, he froze momentarily.
