“I’m not going.” Lu Ye didn’t want to go anywhere right now what was better than being with his wife?
Seeing her so early in the morning already made him… restless. Even if he had to go, he wanted to eat something good first.
The towering 1.9-meter Lu Ye pressed Lin Tianxin against the wall, a mischievous grin on his face. “Tianxin, I’m in pain!”
Lin Tianxin didn’t understand and asked curiously, “Do you want me to look?”
Although she was more skilled in surgery, she knew enough about male anatomy too. And it was her own husband though she felt a little shy, she could overcome it.
Lu Ye thought: “Look where? Silly!”
Silly was fine he could just teach her directly.
He leaned his body close, just ten centimeters from hers. “Looking won’t help. I have to use my strength to feel good!”
He licked her lips, sending a shiver through her that snapped Lin Tianxin fully awake.
She cursed silently in her heart: so aroused so early… serves him right.
Just then, someone knocked on the door lightly three times, the rhythm slow and gentle, completely different from the previous urgent knock.
Lu Ye muttered a curse in his throat. He had just begun kissing the reddened corners of Lin Tianxin’s lips, ready to deepen it, when the sound interrupted him. The heat in his chest surged, and the softness in his eyes instantly hardened into a sharp, cold glare. His hand at her waist tightened involuntarily, teeth gritted. “Damn, who the hell’s so careless?”
He had just gotten the girl in the right mood who dared ruin that?
Lin Tianxin laughed quietly. Such perfect timing.
She patted his hand to signal him to calm down, adjusted the coat draped over her shoulders, and said softly, “I’ll get it. Maybe it’s something important.”
She stepped around him toward the door, feeling Lu Ye’s intense gaze on her back sticky and reluctant, tinged with mischievous possessiveness.
As soon as the latch opened a crack, the person outside spoke first, voice warm and familiar, with a hint of a smile: “Tianxin, it’s me, Su Jingxing.”
Lin Tianxin opened the door and saw a lean man in a clean white shirt, sleeves rolled to his forearms, gentle features, wearing thin-framed glasses her university classmate, Su Jingxing.
He carried a cloth bag. Seeing her, his eyes brightened with a smile. “Tianxin, I’ve brought your graduate school admission letter. The day after tomorrow, we can leave together.”
Lin Tianxin froze, her mind racing she had forgotten all about this.
In her previous life, the day after marrying Lu Ye, she had run back to her family home to pick up the admission letter for grad school. Su Jingxing also went to grad school. They were classmates, and during that period, Su Jingxing had kept his distance. Only after Lu Ye’s death did he confess and offer to take care of her.
She had refused. First, she didn’t like Su Jingxing. Second, she only wanted to study medicine. Later, Su Jingxing got married, and she didn’t pay him much attention.
Lu Ye had already moved beside her. His towering figure lowered the atmosphere around him; his black eyes swept coldly over Su Jingxing, landing on the refined glasses on his face. His voice had no warmth, only scrutiny: “Who are you?”
Su Jingxing’s smile faltered. He hadn’t expected another man inside. His gaze traced Lu Ye’s half-open coat and strong jawline before returning to Lin Tianxin, a flicker of doubt in his eyes. Could this be her husband?
So intimidating… and taller than him by a head.
He maintained politeness and extended his hand. “Hello, I’m Tianxin’s university classmate, Su Jingxing.”
Lu Ye glanced at the offered hand, let out a cold snort, his voice rough, laced with possessiveness. “I’m her man, Lu Ye.”
He lifted his injured hand and clasped Su Jingxing’s hand in a reverse grip, fingers pressing slightly.
The air froze. Su Jingxing winced in pain his bones felt like they might crush.
Lu Ye smiled easily. “What’s wrong? Weak? As a man, you can’t be too frail.”
He knew perfectly well that Su Jingxing had liked Lin Tianxin in school. He had pushed the rival away quietly several times before.
Now, married and still pestering her did he think Lu Ye was dead?
Su Jingxing’s hand trembled from the pain, but he forced a composed tone: “Ah… it’s Commander Lu. I’ve heard of you. Sorry to bother you two. I just came to deliver Tianxin’s admission letter. Nothing else.”
He pulled his hand back and exhaled sharply, offering the cloth bag forward. “Here’s the letter. I’ll… leave now.”
Before Lin Tianxin could take it, Lu Ye intercepted it, gripping the bag firmly. Voice cold and hard: “Just leave it here. Thanks.”
He positioned himself in the doorway, clearly signaling Su Jingxing to leave. “We have things to do. If there’s nothing else, come another time.”
Su Jingxing’s smile faded, but he said nothing further, looking to Lin Tianxin softly: “I won’t bother you then. Tianxin, if you ever need help, just let me know.”
Lin Tianxin nodded lightly. “Thank you.”
He responded with a nod, shot Lu Ye a meaningful glance, and left.
The door slammed behind him. Lu Ye tossed the cloth bag onto the entryway cabinet and immediately pressed Lin Tianxin against the door, black eyes burning with jealousy. “The admission letter? You didn’t want to follow me to the army just to wait for this?”
His hand on the wall clenched into a fist, rage surging in his chest.
So she had planned this from the start. Every excuse about missing family was just to buy time.
If she didn’t want to go, what could he do? It was all up to her.
Even knowing she hadn’t willingly married him, he had hoped she would follow him to the army. When that hope was dashed… the pain was indescribable.
It felt like a knife cutting through his heart, bloody and raw.
Lin Tianxin’s heart tightened at the anger in his eyes. She clutched her coat, ears flushed, voice soft and slightly guilty: “I applied before we got married. I hadn’t planned to follow you then. I almost forgot about the admission letter…”
She looked up into Lu Ye’s terrifying black eyes, seeing his lips pressed tight, aura so intense it could freeze a person. She stepped closer, gently tugged at his coat, voice earnest: “Lu Ye, I won’t go to grad school. I’ll follow you to the army.”
When he got angry, he was truly terrifying. Rough, wild, and fierce.
Lu Ye’s rage softened slightly, black eyes narrowing as he gazed at her reddened eyes. Tone tense, uncertain: “Really?”
His grip on her side loosened a little, but he didn’t back away, hiding a trace of hesitant hope, afraid she was just saying it casually.
“Really. I’m not lying.” Lin Tianxin looked up at him, eyes bright. Her small hand slid up to cover his clenched fist, gently interlacing her fingers with his. “I don’t want to be apart from you. I want to follow you to the army.”
She knew why he was angry angry she hadn’t told him earlier, angry she seemed to have an escape plan. But now, all she wanted was to be with him. In her previous life, he had faced storms alone. This time, she wanted to stay by his side. Even if she couldn’t do much, being there was enough.
Lu Ye’s Adam’s apple rolled. His anger faded, leaving only a surge of emotion and a lingering hint of roguishness. “Since you’ve decided to follow me, this admission letter is useless. Shall I throw it away?”
He reached for the letter, ready to toss it into the trash.
