His grip was strong, squeezing Lin Tianxin’s wrist until it hurt. His gaze swept over the clothes she was wearing, his brows knitting even tighter. “You just got married and already ran back home you must’ve been wronged! Wait here, I’m going to the military compound right now to settle this with him. Even if I can’t beat him, I’ll make sure he knows the Lin family isn’t easy to bully!”

As he spoke, Lin Guangzhuo rolled up his sleeves, looking ready to rush out and fight.

Lin Tianxin quickly grabbed him, half laughing, half exasperated. “Second Brother, don’t jump to conclusions. Lu Ye didn’t bully me he went on a mission. I just missed Mom and Dad, so I came back to visit.”Full novel: Reborn in the 1980s Fiercely Pampered by a Rugged Military Officer — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“A mission?” Lin Guangzhuo stopped, though his face was still full of anger. He took a hard drag from his cigarette, then tossed the butt to the ground and crushed it underfoot. “I said from the start you shouldn’t have married him! Three generations of the Lu family are soldiers you won’t even see him most of the year. Isn’t that basically living like a widow? Mom and Dad must’ve been out of their minds to agree to this marriage!”

The more he spoke, the more agitated he became, his voice rising. “Look at you so pretty, top of your class in medical school. You could’ve found any good man! And you had to marry Lu Ye rough hands, rough temper, can’t even speak properly. You’ll suffer in the future!”

Lin Tianxin felt a warmth in her heart. She knew her second brother was worried about her. In her past life, these same words had only annoyed her. Now, they felt comforting.

Holding onto his arm, she said softly, “Second Brother, no marriage is perfect. Lu Ye… isn’t as bad as you make him sound.”

“Not bad?” Lin Guangzhuo glared at her. “You slept until noon and that’s ‘not bad’? He doesn’t even know how to treat a woman gently!”

Just then, Lin’s mother came out after hearing the noise. When she saw Lin Tianxin, her eyes lit up, and she hurried over to take her hand. “My dear girl, why are you back? Come inside, it’s windy out here.”

Lin Guangzhuo wanted to say more, but Lin’s mother shot him a sharp look. “That’s enough from you! She just got married what’s wrong with coming back to visit? Stop making trouble.”

Lin’s mother pulled Lin Tianxin inside, looking her over as they walked. “How have you been at the Lu family? Your mother-in-law didn’t make things difficult for you, did she? Lu Ye may seem rough, but he’s not a bad person. Be a little more understanding.”

Lin Tianxin smiled and nodded. “Mom, I’ve been doing well. My mother-in-law treats me very kindly she even had the guard drive me back.”

Inside, Lin’s father came out of the study. Seeing her, he smiled in surprise. “Why are you back today?”

Looking at her familiar family, Lin Tianxin’s eyes grew slightly moist.

In her past life, her mother had died of cancer, and her father’s health had declined as well. He had even stopped acknowledging her as his daughter.

Not just because of Xu Su but also because she had been unfilial.

She had avoided Lu Ye, and her father had tried many times to reason with her, but she never listened.

“Dad.”

Her voice caught slightly.

In her previous life, their relationship had been so strained. Only when her father fell ill did she finally come to her senses but by then, too much time had already been lost.

Now, seeing him healthy and strong, her heart felt both heavy and tender.

Seeing her like this, Lin’s father quickly said, “Why are your eyes red? Did you suffer at the Lu family? I heard what Guangzhuo said if that boy Lu Ye dares to bully you, I won’t let him off!”

Their precious daughter was meant to marry and live a good life not to endure hardship.

If Lu Ye didn’t treat her well, then even if they were already married, they could still divorce. At worst, he would take care of his daughter for life.

“No, no,” Lin Tianxin quickly wiped her eyes, forcing a smile. “I just missed you and Mom. I got a little emotional coming back suddenly.”

Lin’s mother pulled her to sit on the sofa and handed her a cup of warm water. “Then come back more often if you miss us. That’s the advantage of marrying close by.”

Looking at her mother now, Lin Tianxin still felt a sense of unreality. In this life, she would use her medical skills to treat her.

After her mother’s death in the previous life, she had devoted herself to researching cancer and had made significant breakthroughs. This time, she was certain she could cure her.

She threw herself into her mother’s arms, hugging her tightly. “Mom, I missed you so much.”

Lin’s mother laughed softly, comforting her. “You’re already grown up and still acting spoiled? You’re married now, yet you still want hugs like when you were little? I’m right here. If you miss me, just come back.”

Lin’s mother had no idea what she was thinking didn’t know she had been reborn, didn’t know that her “missing” her came from the pain of life and death separation.

“I don’t care,” Lin Tianxin said stubbornly. “Even if I’m married, I still want my mom’s hugs.”

Lin Guangzhuo snorted from the side. “She must’ve been wronged. That Lu Ye too just married and already off on a mission. Doesn’t even know how to care for you.”

“That’s how soldiers are,” Lin Tianxin said softly, letting go of her mother. But in her mind, she recalled what Wu Wanjun had said the tenderness hidden beneath Lu Ye’s rough exterior. “He doesn’t have a choice.”

Lin’s father looked at her thoughtfully before speaking slowly, “Tianxin, I know you weren’t willing when you got married. But marriage is for a lifetime. Since you’re already married, try to live well. That boy Lu Ye I think he’s reliable. Be more understanding, and work together. That’s how you build a good life.”

Hearing this, Lin Tianxin’s nose stung, and tears nearly fell.

Her father had said something similar in her past life, but she had only felt disgusted and even argued fiercely with him. Thinking back now, she deeply regretted it.

“Dad, I understand.” She nodded, her voice choked. “I’ll live well with him. I’ll also be a good daughter to you and Mom and to my in-laws.”

Seeing her like this, Lin’s mother patted her back. “Silly child, why are you crying? It’s good that you understand. Oh right Xu Su called earlier. She said she wants to come to our house tomorrow and was asking about you and Lu Ye. You just got married, and she seems quite concerned.”

At the mention of Xu Su, Lin Tianxin’s expression turned cold instantly.

“Don’t let her come,” she said firmly. “Mom, Xu Su has ulterior motives. Stay away from her from now on. Don’t let her come to our house, and don’t let her go to the Lu family to find me.”

Lin’s mother was startled by her reaction. “What’s wrong? Weren’t you two very close before?”

Her daughter had once said Xu Su was her best friend and told them to treat her like family. Why was she suddenly acting so strange?

“I was foolish before I didn’t see her true nature,” Lin Tianxin said, taking a deep breath to suppress the hatred in her heart. “She approached me not because she genuinely wanted to be friends, but because she had other intentions. Listen to me stay away from her, or you’ll suffer for it.”

Lin Guangzhuo immediately agreed. “I told you that woman wasn’t a good person! She was always coming to our house, always asking about Tianxin I found it annoying. Mom, you’d better listen to Little Sister!”

He didn’t mention that Xu Su had secretly confessed to him he didn’t like her and found her repulsive.

Lin’s father frowned, thinking for a moment before saying, “Since Tianxin says so, then we’ll limit contact with her from now on. You be careful too don’t get into conflicts with her. Protect yourself.”

“I understand, Dad,” Lin Tianxin said, finally letting out a breath of relief. Thankfully, her parents were willing to believe her.
