Wen Qiqi, however, couldn’t care less. Before long, Wen Jinkang came back, dragging his feet, holding a bankbook and a cloth bundle, his face full of reluctance and pain.

“Ungrateful girl—here! Take the money and get out!” He threw the items over heavily.

Wen Qiqi opened them and checked. It was indeed ten thousand yuan.Full novel: Reborn in the ’70s: A Chubby Mom’s Guide to Flirting and Getting Rich — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Inside the small bundle was the gold her mother, Wei Rou, had left her—a pair of bracelets, a necklace, earrings, a ring, and a gold lock.

Heavy in her hands.

“The amount’s not right,” Wen Qiqi said coldly. “There’s also an emerald jade pendant.”

That pendant had originally been worn around Wen Qiqi’s neck, but because Wen Jiaojiao liked it, the mother and daughter had tricked her out of it.

The spiritual spring and space were hidden inside it.

But according to the original storyline, Wen Jiaojiao hadn’t discovered that yet.

Getting the pendant was Wen Qiqi’s main purpose today. The things you want most are always hidden behind secondary demands—that way, it’s easier to get what you really want.

“Hand over the pendant.” Wen Qiqi lifted her chin.

Wang Meiyu’s expression darkened.

Gold and silver have prices, but jade is priceless. That emerald pendant was worth a fortune, and her daughter Wen Jiaojiao loved it dearly.

To take it out and return it to Wen Qiqi—it would be like bleeding her heart dry!

Naturally, Wen Jinkang didn’t want to give it either. “What pendant? Something from your childhood—it’s long been lost somewhere.”

Wen Qiqi snorted coldly. Suddenly she stood up, picked up the telephone under Wen Jinkang’s shocked gaze, and began dialing. “The police station’s number seems to be 2…”

“Stop!” Wen Jinkang lunged forward and slammed the receiver down. “Wen Qiqi, have you gone completely mad?!”

If she really alerted the police and they discovered something suspicious about Wei Rou’s death, it would spell trouble.

More importantly, Wen Jinkang had been hiding Wei Rou’s will all along—he had never told Wen Qiqi that the family property was actually in her name.

If everything came to light, he would be left with nothing.

It wasn’t that he was heartless—who told Wen Qiqi to be so foolish? Even if the property were in her hands, she’d squander it all!

Wen Qiqi narrowed her eyes and smiled. “Madness is good. Ever since I went mad, the whole world has become a better place…”

Wang Meiyu lay on the ground, gasping, without even the strength to get up and escape.

“That pendant… might be with Jiaojiao… she won’t be back until tonight…”

“Perfect. I’m not in a hurry. Leaving tomorrow works just fine.”

In a good mood, Wen Qiqi walked to the table, picked up a bowl, and started eating.

She had no intention of leaving today—she had come to strip the house of everything.

Wang Meiyu and Wen Jinkang exchanged looks, both wearing expressions as if they had offended a plague god.

After finishing her meal, Wen Qiqi carried the two little ones upstairs.

Wang Meiyu stared at the empty dishes on the table, her eyes nearly splitting with anger. But seeing Wen Qiqi go upstairs, alarm bells immediately rang in her head.

“Wen Qiqi, upstairs is Jiaojiao’s room!”

Wen Qiqi paused, lowered her head, and looked at Wang Meiyu coldly.

That look made Wang Meiyu’s heart tremble, and she quickly shut her mouth.

Wen Qiqi opened the door and walked into the room.

The upstairs room had originally been hers. All the furniture had been personally chosen by her mother, Wei Rou—fine nanmu wood that still gave off a faint fragrance.

Wen Jiaojiao had coveted this room to madness and had schemed every possible way to take it over.

With a cold smile, Wen Qiqi swept all the dolls off the bed and threw them outside with loud clattering sounds.

Each crash felt like it struck Wang Meiyu’s heart.

To hurry Wen Qiqi into leaving, Wen Jinkang had gone out to exchange grain coupons.

Wang Meiyu couldn’t stay inside, so she stood at the door, anxiously waiting for Wen Jiaojiao to return.

Inside the room, Wen Qiqi bathed the two children, then placed them side by side on the bed like copy-paste versions of each other and tucked them in.

The bedding had just been changed by Wen Qiqi—soft and fragrant. The two little ones squinted comfortably like kittens.

Wen Qiqi gently patted their small bodies, humming a lullaby until they fell asleep. Just then, a loud “bang!” came from outside the door.

“Wen Qiqi, you bitch! Open the door—open it right now!”

Wen Jiaojiao’s frantic pounding made the two children stir.

“Mom… what’s happening?” Ping An mumbled sleepily, his voice hoarse, eyes barely open.

“A dog’s barking. It’s nothing. Mommy will handle it—go back to sleep,” Wen Qiqi said, patting him before standing up and walking to the door.

“Wen Qiqi! Who said you could stay in this room? Who said you could throw away my dolls? Who gave you the nerve?!”

The moment Wen Jiaojiao returned home, she heard from Wang Meiyu that Wen Qiqi had come back—not only eating the food specially prepared for her, but also occupying her room.

Even her beloved dolls had been thrown out.

How could she possibly endure that?!

If she didn’t tear Wen Qiqi apart today, she wouldn’t let it go!

“Wen Qiqi, get out here!”

Bang!

While Wen Jiaojiao was still yelling, the door suddenly opened. Wen Qiqi stepped out with a cold expression, her imposing aura forcing Wen Jiaojiao to retreat step by step.

A surge of resentment from the original owner rose in her heart. Wen Qiqi realized that the dress she was wearing and the little leather shoes on Wen Jiaojiao’s feet had both been bought with foreign exchange coupons by the original owner.

After they had poisoned her into obesity, those things had all become Wen Jiaojiao’s.

Wen Qiqi’s gaze grew even colder. Wen Jiaojiao instinctively felt fear.

“J-Jiaojiao, your sister is only staying for one day. Don’t make her angry…” Wang Meiyu rushed upstairs and grabbed Wen Jiaojiao.

With someone backing her up, Wen Jiaojiao straightened up again. “Wen Qiqi, take those two little bastards and get out of my room!”

Smack!

Wen Qiqi slapped her. “Who are you calling bastards?! You’re the bastard!”

“You dare hit me?!” Wen Jiaojiao shrieked, clutching her face, and lunged forward to grab Wen Qiqi’s hair.

Wen Qiqi almost laughed.

Hair-pulling? Oh, she knew this game.

With just one move, she twisted Wen Jiaojiao’s arm behind her back and grabbed her hair.

“Ahhh!”

Wen Jiaojiao felt like she was going crazy. Held by her hair, her body arched backward unnaturally, her head pulled down. Even her bright red hair accessory was torn off.

“Qiqi, let Jiaojiao go!” Wang Meiyu rushed over. While saying, “Your father already went to exchange grain coupons for you, stop bullying Jiaojiao,” her hand reached out to scratch Wen Qiqi’s face.

Taking sides?

Wen Qiqi kicked Wang Meiyu to the ground and stepped directly on her back.

The mother and daughter—one like an exclamation mark, the other like an inverted question mark—were perfectly aligned, as standard as could be.

Hearing the commotion, An An drowsily opened her eyes. “Mommy?”

Ping An reached out and patted his sister. “Mom’s beating a dog. Go back to sleep.”

“The puppy is so naughty…” An An murmured before drifting back to sleep.

Wen Qiqi: Well done, Ping An. Mommy will give you an extra drumstick tomorrow.
