When Tang Ximian woke up, she truly thought she was dreaming.

The man before her was tall and imposing, his eyes were gloomy, and his lips were pressed into a thin line.

“Tang Ximian, if you really want to die, I won’t stop you again! But you’d better get one thing straight—you’re a married woman now!”

Chu Jiangchuan shook her off. “Let’s just get a divorce!”

Tang Ximian watched him slam the door and leave. All the strength seemed to drain from her body, yet tears streamed down her face.

She was back… She was really back!

In her previous life, Chu Jiangchuan had originally been in the army. However, he was forced to retire due to a combat injury and returned home to recover. To save her after she fell into a trap, he had carried her on his back all the way to the village clinic and then back home again.

She had no family and had grown up eating meals provided by various neighbors. Village Chief Uncle was determined for her to get an education, and she eventually made it to high school. But clearly, her life experience was still far too limited…

Tang Ximian felt that marrying into the Chu Family was her way of repaying his kindness, but the old matriarch of the Chu Family was no pushover. Seeing that Tang Ximian had no intention of settling down, she would often make pointed remarks, which Tang Ximian couldn’t stand.

Gradually, she began to notice Xia Wenbo, who had always been gentle toward her, thinking he was fair-skinned and a smooth talker.

Xia Wenbo was more than happy to wheedle things out of her, coaxing her with lies that Chu Jiangchuan actually had a fiancée before and wouldn’t treat her well even after marrying her. He deceived her for a long time.

It was only after she divorced Chu Jiangchuan that she learned Xia Wenbo had long had someone he liked elsewhere, and he had been using the things she gave him to support that woman!

And later…

Later, when she had become a CEO, she heard that Chu Jiangchuan had remained single all his life, and his leg had never fully healed. Although he had become a major agricultural magnate with a vast fortune, the disability remained…

It wasn’t until she died of illness and her soul drifted back to Kaoshan Village that she saw a gray-haired Chu Jiangchuan sitting alone on a ridge between the fields, gazing at the yellowed wheat. In his hand, he clutched a handkerchief, and inside it was a bracelet.

Tang Ximian’s heart ached so much that she wailed, wishing her soul would just scatter on the spot.

It wasn’t out of responsibility, nor did he have another woman—he loved her!

The handkerchief was one she had dropped, and the bracelet was one she had taken off and thrown at him… He had kept them both.

Tang Ximian swore that she had to go back. If she could return to that time, she would never be so foolish again!

As for Xia Wenbo… that piece of trash!

A dull ache throbbed on her forehead, and Tang Ximian snapped back to her senses, fiercely wiping away her tears.

Well, she would start changing things from now on!

She rolled out of bed, and Tang Ximian took step after step to welcome her new life.

Chu Jiangchuan was sitting by the doorway. Hearing the movement, he looked over at her, his motion of getting up pausing for a moment. “Willing to come out now?”

Tang Ximian remembered. This was when she had wanted a divorce, but Chu Jiangchuan had disagreed, so she had jumped into the river. After she returned, Chu Jiangchuan had become completely disheartened with her and stopped forcing the issue. Not long after, the two divorced.

She nodded. “I’ve thought it through. I’m not getting a divorce!”

Chu Jiangchuan looked at her, somewhat surprised. A flicker of delight did not escape her eyes.

“Chu Jiangchuan, you’re my savior. I will live a good life with you! I believe you will be good to me!”

They had been married for two months, yet they had never spoken to each other at such a close distance.

“But I…”

“Your leg is not a problem, I can help you!” Tang Ximian sat down next to him. “Did you know, when I was in the water, I was thinking, if we really got a divorce…”

Chu Jiangchuan was a little uncomfortable. “Didn’t you tell me before that you liked men like Xia Wenbo?”

Tang Ximian: “…Was I that brainless back then? How could I have said that?”

Chu Jiangchuan: “…”

For some reason, he just felt that Tang Ximian seemed to have changed.

He couldn’t quite put his finger on it, but it seemed to be a change for the better.

At the very least, she was willing to stay.

Xu Guangfen came out of the main house and was stunned to see the two of them sitting together. “Well, well, the one who wanted to die has decided not to?”

Tang Ximian took a deep breath and walked over quickly. “Mom, I was foolish before. After that dunk in the water, I’ve thought things through! Mom, I’m sorry about what happened before. Please rest assured, I will be good to Jiangchuan from now on!”

Xu Guangfen’s face was cold, and she said nothing, simply turning to go cook.

Tang Ximian gave herself a little “you can do it” gesture, then turned and pressed down on Chu Jiangchuan, who was about to get up. “Let me see your leg!”

Chu Jiangchuan didn’t move, completely bewildered. “You… you know how to treat injuries?”

“I had a classmate in high school whose family practiced medicine. I borrowed a lot of medical books from them to read,” Tang Ximian said as she felt Chu Jiangchuan’s calf.

The bone had been set, but it hadn’t healed properly. The blood circulation wasn’t very smooth, which was why Chu Jiangchuan walked with a slight limp, though it didn’t seriously hinder his ability to work.

“It’s fine. We’ll apply hot compresses in the future. Once the circulation improves, it’ll be okay.” Tang Ximian breathed a sigh of relief. Although her rebirth was a little late, at least his condition wasn’t beyond saving yet!

Right now, there was another important matter: she had to quickly figure out a way to make money.

Relying solely on the family’s six mu of land was really not enough!

“Time to eat! We still have work to do after we’re full!” Xu Guangfen called out from the kitchen.

Tang Ximian reached out and helped Chu Jiangchuan up. “Let’s go. After we eat, we’ll go harvest the wheat!”

The most important thing in this life was to ensure this family did well and never ended up like they did in her previous life!

Chu Jiangchuan’s heart was beating fast. The girl’s hand holding his arm was soft, and he didn’t want to let go…

Despite the simple meal of coarse grain pancakes and thin soup, Tang Ximian ate with gusto. When she finished, she even offered to wash the dishes.

Xu Guangfen didn’t say any more harsh words and turned to leave first.

Chu Jiangchuan reached out and took the task from her. “Let me help you!”

As she scrubbed the pot, Tang Ximian looked at him. He was tall and handsome. Due to his training in the army, he had a good physique, but he wasn’t as fair-skinned as Xia Wenbo. His skin was wheat-colored, and his muscles were solid and strong.

If it weren’t for his leg, he would have been married long ago…

Tang Ximian felt even more fortunate that she had been reborn!

“You really don’t mind my leg?” A perfectly fine man had become like this in the blink of an eye. He despised it himself; could she… really have come to terms with it, and not just be trying to lower his guard?

Tang Ximian knew he wouldn’t believe her so easily. She simply pulled him over and planted a loud kiss on his cheek. “Do you believe me now? Let’s go, let’s go, time to harvest the wheat!”

The family still had five mu of wheat to harvest!

Who had the spare time to chat with him!

Chu Jiangchuan’s feet immediately got tangled. As he walked out of the kitchen, he kicked the threshold, and if he hadn’t grabbed the doorframe, he would have fallen flat on his face.

Tang Ximian turned to look at him, her face a picture of shock, and almost burst out laughing like a whistling kettle.

Was this man a little too innocent!

Haha!

But that made sense, it was the 1980s after all!

Speaking of which, had she returned to a golden age?

Carrying a back basket and holding a sickle, Tang Ximian supported Chu Jiangchuan as they walked down the path to the fields.
