The couple easily exhausted the conversation in the room. Zhang Guilan was standing in the hallway chatting with their neighbor Mrs. Wang.

Mrs. Wang exclaimed in surprise, “That car just now was a Santana. He really is rich and even has a personal driver. He brought quite a lot for your family. Is he your relative?”

Zhang Guilan casually showed off, “Relative? He is Fang Yi’s friend.”Full novel: Reborn in the ’80s: The Supporting Female Character Is Pregnant with the Big Shot’s Child — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

She wanted to show off but could not let anyone know Fang Yi was planning to take a leave without pay.

Mrs. Wang looked a little envious. “Fang Yi’s friend is really a big shot.”

Not only did a wealthy friend come to see Fang Yi, Ji You had been quietly behaving these past days. Life seemed to be getting better for this family.

Mrs. Wang worried she would miss the fun, asked sadly, “Why hasn’t Ji You been making a fuss these days?”

Zhang Guilan snorted, stepping inside while closing the door. “The young couple has a good relationship. Haven’t you heard the saying, young people fight out of love?”

Ji You had received a letter from Zou Wentao, keeping it until nighttime to read.

The couple sat at the table. Ji You held the letter up to Fang Yi. “It’s from Zou Wentao.”

Fang Yi’s heart skipped a beat but he remained composed, replying with a quiet “hmm.”

Ji You tore open the envelope and skimmed it. A surge of frustration mixed with desperation radiated from the words. She immediately brightened up. “Zou Wentao went to the station, struggled all night, and ended up soaked. Look, I hung two ginseng roots, and he was completely thrown off. My plan worked.”

Fang Yi rested his arms on the table, fingers interlaced, focusing on Ji You. She looked beautiful, her features lively, eyes curved, shimmering. Unfortunately, she only smiled like this for another man.

She had never smiled this way for him.

“He was clearly frustrated but still had to politely ask me for ginseng,” Ji You said, smiling.

“What will you reply?” Fang Yi asked patiently.

“Of course, I’ll wait a few days, send another telegram, and make him go to the station again.”

Fang Yi frowned slightly. “He will go again?”

Ji You smiled and nodded. “He’s obsessed with the ginseng now, he’ll definitely go. I’ll tease him once more.”

In the book, she was just the antagonist making life difficult for the protagonists, so she had no psychological burden in teasing him.

Fang Yi tried to sound calm. “Is it fun?”

Ji You nodded. “Yes, as long as they are unhappy, I’m happy.”

Fang Yi could not understand this at all. Real revenge should cost the other party something. One sleepless night in the rain was nothing.

Clearly, Ji You still thought about Zou Wentao, which is why she kept contacting him.

He sighed softly. “Alright, as long as you’re happy.”

As it approached the end of work, Fang Yi was washing his hands at the sink. Wang Dajie, in charge of technical training, was also there. She asked, “Are you looking for remedies for your wife’s morning sickness?”

Fang Yi picked at the grease under his nails, “Wang Dajie, do you know any remedies?”

Wang Dajie turned on the tap while washing her hands. “I heard one. My cousin-in-law had morning sickness. She visited an old Chinese doctor, used several plasters, and it was cured. No more vomiting.”

Fang Yi felt numb. Plasters again.

He asked carefully, “Which hospital? Previously Xiao Feng recommended a clinic, but it seemed for skin diseases and infertility, it didn’t look legitimate.”

Wang Dajie said, “I’m telling you it’s a reputable hospital, Du Zhong Chinese Medicine Hospital. You’ve heard of it, right?”

Fang Yi nodded. “Yes, it’s an established hospital here. Which doctor should I see?”

At that moment Xiao Yu came to wash her hands, grumbling, “It’s just morning sickness. Other pregnant women manage. Only your wife can’t. She’s really delicate.”

Fang Yi’s brow furrowed, his expression tense. “Don’t comment on Ji You.”

Even with outsiders present, he gave her no face. He had promised her sister to take care of her, yet once married, he was different.

Ji You was pretty, but so what. She was still annoying.

Xiao Yu wisely closed her mouth.

Seeing Wang Dajie about to leave, Fang Yi quickly caught up. “Which doctor’s number?”

Wang Dajie gave the name and added, “It’s a bit expensive. Each time several plasters are needed, three yuan each, but since you care so much about your wife, it’s nothing.”

Fang Yi thanked her. “She can barely eat. If it cures the morning sickness, money is worth trying.”

After washing, Fang Yi rode home quickly. At the door, he called, “Ji You.”

Zhang Guilan, rinsing rice, complained, “Back so soon looking for your wife? She’s inside.”

Fang Yi strode in, seeing Ji You listening to the radio. “I heard an old Chinese doctor at Du Zhong Hospital treats morning sickness. This is an established hospital, none of that messy place. We’ll go when we have time.”

Ji You turned down the radio. “I won’t take Chinese medicine. My stomach can’t handle it. I’ll vomit.”

Fang Yi reassured her. “Just plasters, no bitter decoctions. Let’s try it. I’ll take you tomorrow afternoon. How about that?”

“As long as there is no medicine to drink, Sunday is fine. No need for special leave,” Ji You said.

Fang Yi was surprised. She was thinking about him? Since when did Ji You become considerate?

“I’ll take tomorrow. The old doctor isn’t working Sunday,” he said.

Ji You nodded. “As long as you don’t mind taking leave.”

He was uncomfortable. He was used to the old Ji You who fussed over everything.

The next afternoon at two thirty, Fang Yi took leave and brought Ji You to the Chinese Medicine Hospital.
