The morning sun filtered through the sheer curtains of the Manhattan apartment, cutting across the wooden floor and illuminating the intricate, concentric rings of the 1994 Ascendant sitting on the desk.

Aleksander sat leaning forward, elbows on his knees, staring down at the device.

His mind was already turning through the mechanics of the Prison World.Full novel: Reborn In TVD with Absolute Condition (OP) — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Pulling Kai out was the easy part; managing a volatile, broken Siphoner who had spent over a decade trapped in a solitary time loop was the real challenge.

Kai didn’t need another jailer, and he certainly didn’t need another self-righteous lecture.

He needed someone who understood raw power, someone willing to offer him purpose and brotherhood instead of chains.

Soft footsteps broke his train of thought.

Lexi walked into the bedroom, completely radiant.

She wore a black silk-and-lace two-piece cami set, the delicate straps resting against her collarbones and the loose shorts hugging the curve of her hips.

Her usual morning stillness was replaced by a vibrant and unmistakable afterglow humming beneath her skin.

She leaned against the doorframe, crossing her arms, her hazel eyes dancing with amusement and curiosity.

“Is your blood special because of the whole Avatar of Nature thing?” Lexi asked, a teasing lilt in her voice.

“Because I feel like I could tear down a skyscraper right now.”

Aleksander looked up from the Ascendant, a slow grin touching his lips as his gaze drifted over her.

“Well,” he said smoothly, leaning back in his chair.

“It carries the raw essence of the earth’s leylines. For an ordinary vampire, it wouldn’t just feed you. It accelerates your physical strength, sharpens your senses, and over time, it can awaken latent abilities that standard vampires never even touch.”

Lexi’s tongue darted out, slowly wetting her bottom lip as a wicked smirk curved her mouth.

Her eyes darkened with playful hunger.

“Is that so?” she murmured, sauntering toward him with an easy sway of her hips.

“In that case, I might just have to take a sip from time to time.”

Aleksander caught her by the waist as she reached his chair, pulling her gently onto his lap.

“Anytime you want.”

Lexi leaned in, pressing a warm, lingering kiss to his lips that tasted of morning heat and quiet familiarity.

When she pulled back, resting her hands against his broad chest, Aleksander tilted his head, his dark eyes sparkling with something intriguing.

“Though if you really want to expand your horizons,” Aleksander added, brushing a stray strand of blonde hair behind her ear, “I can teach you a few tricks. Real bloodline abilities that not a single vampire in this modern era has ever bothered to figure out.”

“Now you’ve got my attention. What kind of tricks are we talking about?”

Aleksander gently lifted his hand, pressing the pad of his index finger against the center of Lexi’s forehead.

A faint, golden pulse of earth magic rippled outward from the point of contact, sending a cool rush through her mind.

Directly into her consciousness flowed ancient, dormant vampire lore—abilities long forgotten since the old world, waiting only for the right catalyst to awaken:

Metamorphosis: True dominion over the night and its creatures.

The ability to dissolve into a living swarm of bats at will, along with clothing and whatever was held, turning physical form intangible to brute force while retaining complete sight, hearing, and presence in the swarm.

Weather Control: The intrinsic authority to shroud the sun, summon gathering storm clouds, command lightning, and banish the tempest just as swiftly to dictate the battlefield.

Lexi blinked as Aleksander pulled his hand away.

Her eyes widened, adjusting to the sudden, vivid instinct coursing through her blood.

She looked up at him, a breathless, excited grin breaking across her face.

“I can actually fly with this?” she asked.

Aleksander nodded, watching her with an amused smile.

“You can move through the air however you please. Go ahead. Test it.”

Lexi didn’t hesitate.

She stepped back into the open space of the living room, closed her eyes, and reached inward toward that new, dark hum in her veins.

For a split second, her outline blurred like black smoke.

With a sharp, rushing whisper of wind, her body dissolved entirely into a dense cloud of dark, leathery-winged bats.

The swarm wheeled through the air beneath the high ceiling, executing a swift, effortless loop near the chandelier.

Her clothes had vanished seamlessly with her, and through the swarm, a low, predatory hiss echoed across the room.

Diving downward toward the center of the rug, the swarm folded back inward with a sudden rush of displaced air.

Lexi reformed in a blink—feet hitting the hardwood, hair tumbling over her shoulders, her black lace cami set completely intact.

Her hazel eyes were bright with pure adrenaline, her chest rising and falling as a wide, triumphant laugh tore from her throat.

“Oh,” Lexi breathed, flexing her fingers and looking up at Aleksander with a thrilling smirk. This chapter was taken from g.com without permission.

“Stefan is going to lose his mind when he sees this.”

Lexi turned toward the tall bay windows, looking out over the New York skyline with a determined look in her eyes.

She reached deep into her core, trying to summon that second instinct—to reach past the glass, grasp the clear morning air, and drag down a thunderhead.

A faint, cool breeze swirled across the living room rug, rustling the sheer curtains.

Outside, a tiny, wispy patch of gray cloud drifted sluggishly into view, looking less like a tempest and more like stray steam from a rooftop vent.

The sky stubbornly remained bright blue.

Lexi dropped her hands with a dry sigh, blowing a loose lock of blonde hair out of her face.

“Well, that was thoroughly underwhelming.”

Aleksander chuckled, leaning back in his chair as he watched her.

“That one’s way too advanced. Controlling the skies is a lot harder than shifting your body, and it’s going to take you some practice.”

Lexi turned back around, her pout instantly melting into a wicked, suggestive smirk.

She sauntered back toward his chair, trailing a painted fingernail along the curve of his shoulder before letting her hip lean against the desk beside him.

“Practice is fine,” Lexi murmured, her hazel eyes glittering with clear intent as she leaned close enough for him to feel the cool whisper of her breath against his throat.

“Though I’m thinking a few more drinks straight from the tap might speed up the learning curve.”

Before she could finish her teasing purr, Aleksander’s hand came down with a firm, sharp smack right across the curve of her lace-clad ass.

Lexi yelped, jumping slightly and arching away with a startled gasp.

Her hand immediately flew to rub her stinging cheek, her hazel eyes going wide with mock outrage.

Aleksander just looked up at her, a slow, knowing smirk playing on his lips, completely unfazed.

”Control,” Aleksander said smoothly, his dark eyes gleaming with authority and dry humor.

“You don’t get the dessert until you’ve mastered the fundamentals.”

Lexi narrowed her eyes, trying to maintain an offended scowl, but the twitch at the corner of her lips betrayed her.

The heat lingering on her skin only seemed to fuel the spark between them.

”You’re a menace,” Lexi muttered, though she didn’t step an inch away from him.

She leaned in again, resting her palms against his chest, her voice dropping into a breathless, unrepentant challenge.

“But I like that.”
