Michael stared at her, his brows furrowed hard as he noticed how distant and indifferent Elizabeth looked.

“Liz, what’s going on with you?

Are you mad at me because of what I said to Alexander?Full novel: Reborn: Spoil Me This Time — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“I meant every word.

If he ever treats you badly, I swear I’ll take you away from him.

You probably don’t even know…

I like you too.”

Elizabeth’s smile turned icy, laced with mockery.

She looked up at the man she used to have feelings for, and now, just looking at him made her feel sick.

If she hadn’t lived through all of this once before, maybe she would’ve fallen for his sweet talk again.

“Sincere?

Michael, your so-called sincerity means nothing to me.”

With that, she turned to leave—but he grabbed her arm.

Her eyes flashed cold.

“Let go.”

“Liz, what happened to you?

You’re not the same anymore.

You’ve only been married to Alexander for a month.

How could your feelings change so fast?

“Didn’t you say you liked me?

And just like that—gone?”

His voice cooled, like she was the one who’d betrayed him.

Elizabeth yanked her arm back.

“That was in the past.

The moment you and Victoria set me up and sent me to Alexander’s bed, we became enemies.”

Michael froze, stunned, and stared blankly at her.

“What are you talking about?

Me and Victoria plotting against you?

That’s insane.

We grew up together—I’d never do that to you.”

“Oh really?

But that’s exactly what happened.

She told me herself.

So save it.

Stop following me around.”

With that, Elizabeth spun around and left.

Not far away, someone holding a phone quietly turned and walked off.

Elizabeth reached the dorm building, about to head up, when a familiar voice called out from behind.

“Liz!

It really is you!

I thought I was seeing things.

I heard you got married—care to explain?”

Emily Morris walked up, wrapping an arm around her shoulder, her playful grin a familiar comfort.

Seeing her best friend again stirred something deep in Elizabeth’s heart.

Emily, daughter of the Morris family, had been her ride-or-die since kindergarten.

But last time, thanks to Elizabeth, Victoria had driven Emily into a breakdown…

and she’d jumped.

Thank God this time she had a chance to change things.

Suppressing her emotions, Elizabeth smiled.

“Weren’t you off on some trip? This chapter is updated first at g.com.

When did you get back?”

“Came back two days ago.

Phone signal was trash out there—I can’t believe I missed your wedding!”

Elizabeth gave a small smile.

“It was just a quick registration.

My family needed something from him, so we didn’t throw a wedding.”

“Do I know your husband?”

Elizabeth thought about it and shook her head.

“No, you’ve never met him.”

“You got married and didn’t tell your bestie?

Nope, not okay.

I wanna meet him today—I’ve gotta screen him myself.”

Elizabeth had planned to say no, but something made her pause.

“I’ll ask if he’s free.

If he is, I’ll let you know.”

“Deal.”

They headed upstairs together.

Emily’s major was media and journalism, so her dorm was on the fifth floor.

They split at the fourth.

“Text me after—we should go sign up for classes,” Emily called out.

Elizabeth nodded.

“Okay, I’ll be waiting.”

Back in her dorm, Elizabeth tidied up her things, then sent Alexander a message.

“Hey hubby~ I’m in the dorm now.

You free tonight?

Miss you.”

After sending it, she called Emily. She waited in the dorm for about two minutes before Emily arrived.

“Let’s go.”

Elizabeth grabbed her bag and walked out of the dorm with Emily.

As they strolled down the path, she glanced at her phone—still no reply.

Nothing new on the screen.

Judging by the time, he should still be on his way to the office, right?

Why hasn’t he replied?

She hesitated, debating whether to call him.

Emily leaned closer.

“Who’ve you been texting, Liz?

I’ve been talking to you for a while and you’re totally zoning out.”

Elizabeth snapped out of it.

“You wanted to meet my husband, remember?

I texted him, but he hasn’t replied yet.

I’m just thinking if I should call.”

“Then call him already.”

Just as she was about to dial, her phone lit up with a message.

Elizabeth almost dropped it from the surprise.

Emily raised a brow.

“What did your hubby send to make you react like that?”

Curious, she peeked over Elizabeth’s shoulder, and the moment she saw the message, her lips twitched uncontrollably.

“Wait…

he actually sent you a meme?

Since when is he that cute?

How old is this guy again?”

“Thirty.”

Emily choked on air.

“Wow—okay, he’s definitely into you.

Come on, reply him back!”

…

Right after leaving Halden University, Alexander’s car entered downtown when his phone buzzed in his pocket. Enjoying the story? Read on at g.com.

He pulled it out and glanced at the screen—a photo message.

His expression clouded over immediately, and the temperature inside the car seemingly dropped a few degrees.

From the rearview mirror, Peter Shaw noticed his boss’s shift in demeanor.

His foot almost slipped on the pedal.

“Mr.

Blake, is something wrong?”

Alexander glanced at him, his tone cold and sharp.

“We’re going back to the university.”

“Now?” They were on a one-way; turning back wasn’t exactly feasible.

“Sir, it’s Monday…

there’s the shareholders’ meeting.

Maybe you shouldn’t skip—”

“Back to the university.”

The steel in his voice brooked no argument.

Peter pressed his lips tightly.

“Understood.”

Was this…

because of Mrs.

Blake?

Peter made the next possible turn and headed back toward the university.

Not long into the drive, Alexander’s phone pinged again.

He stared at the message for a moment, unmoving.

His icy aura had faded a bit, but his expression was still unreadable.

“Peter, send me some sticker packs.”

Peter’s hands almost slipped again, the car briefly swerving before he corrected it.

Alexander shot him a dark look.

Peter scratched his nose awkwardly—not his fault the request was so…

unexpected.

“Right away, sir.”

He activated the car’s auto-drive system, then quickly forwarded a few sets of trendy love-themed stickers to Alexander.

“Sir, these are some of the most popular ones right now.

Definitely mood boosters.

I saw you and Mrs.

Blake talking earlier—things seemed to be improving.

You gotta keep sending her these.

She’s adorable, she’ll eat that up.”

Alexander glared at him again.

Shut up, basically.

Then he started typing his reply to Elizabeth.

“Need something?

Naughty girl~”

About a minute later…

“My bestie wants to meet you.

If you’re free tonight, let’s set a time.”

He curled his lips subtly, fingers swiftly dancing over the screen.

“Free.

7 PM.

Revolving restaurant at Coastline Hotel.

I’ll come pick you up.”
