As the bull charged toward him, Victor didn’t dodge. He planted his feet and braced for impact.
“[Increase Weight].”
When the bull was only a few meters away, Victor lowered his center of gravity and met the bull head-on.
The impact drove him back several meters, his feet sinking into the ground. Then he stopped.
Suddenly, electricity surged through his body.
His grip loosened for a split second. It was all the bull needed.
With a violent toss of his head, the bull flung him into a tree.
The bull charged again before he could even catch his breath.
Victor waited.
At the last possible moment, he dropped low, almost to the ground. Then one of his arms hooked beneath the bull's belly while the other grabbed a leg.
Then he heaved.
The massive beast flipped over.
The bull spun through the air before crashing into a tree and felling it.
He was defenseless in this situation, yet Victor didn’t attack him.
When the bull finally got up, he didn’t charge Victor immediately. He looked worried, and Victor could even see that the bull was thinking.
“Smart too, good. Though I expect it from a magical beast.”
The bull charged at Victor again, his horns glowing.
When the bull was a few meters from Victor, lightning shot out of the his horns. Victor expected it, but his only plan was to tough it out and get into position sooner.
The lightning managed to stun him for a second, but he still dodged the horns and even clung tightly to the bull’s neck. Still, he got rammed into several trees, destroying them in the process.
But then the charge stopped. Victor’s muscles bulged, and he managed to throw the bull over his head again.
Just like last time, he only waited for the bull to stand back up.
He couldn’t continuously use the lightning. If he did, he would have used it when he managed to ram me.
It should have been pretty obvious right now that Victor was stronger, yet the bull didn’t look like it would run.
Good.
The bull charged again, but this time, instead of rushing straight at him, he jumped.
But that just made it easier for Victor to throw him again.
The bull tried again.
And again.
And again.
And again.
Every try was different, every try less successful than the last.
It wasn’t because the bull’s moves were getting worse—some of them were good, like jumping at the last second to put more punch into the ram—but none of that mattered. The fight was already decided from the first attack.
[Gradual Resistance (Temporary)].
If the first few attacks didn’t manage to kill him, then his victory was all but guaranteed if he was fighting beasts who only had one or two attacks. The bull’s lightning only tickled him now.
[Durable Body] and [Unyielding Bones].
Made his body really tough and his bones more so.
[Lesser Regeneration].
After a few hours of fighting, his injuries were all but healed.
[Relentless].
He didn’t even feel tired fighting a magical beast for a few hours.
[Increase Strength (Gradual)].
Victor was stronger than the bull, who definitely weighed over five tons.
As the bull came sailing through the sky again, he tried to get up once more, but he failed and fell to the ground.
The eyes on the bull looked like he was resigned to his fate, but Victor had no intention of killing the creature.
So, he grabbed his clothes, wore it, slung the bull over his shoulder, and started walking into the village.
Even though Victor was pretty strong, the bull was really heavy.
It forced him to walk slowly, and he even had to take a few breaks to catch his breath.
Some animals even tried to attack him, thinking he was easy prey. But Victor didn’t kill them; he couldn’t possibly bring any more stuff when his hand was full. And killing them without any good reason even though he could easily spare them felt wrong to him.
Not to mention he didn’t want to gain a Yellow Class.
He had two classes, [Soulmate] and [Ever-Adapting Survivor].
His Class had changed after his fight with his parents.
It was a good Class, though a bit surprising.
The Class didn’t sound like a combat Class. He always thought that when he finally changed his Class, it would contain the word warrior in it.
Maybe, it’s because I don’t see myself as a warrior. Fighting is fun, but ultimately, I just wanted myself and Norm to survive.
After hours of walking, his body was nearing its limit. Not to mention his aura was almost depleted.
At some point, Victor stopped taking breaks. He didn’t know if he could continue if he stopped to rest.
If the bull he was carrying on his back struggled against his hold, he didn’t think he could carry the bull all the way to where Norm was.
Thankfully, the bull was quiet. He was still alive, just really docile.
He either feared me or respected me, maybe both. But it didn’t matter, the bull is for Norm to take care of, not me.
Then after what felt like forever, [Sense Location (Norm)] told him that it would only take a few more minutes until he reached where Norm was.
His walk immediately became faster.
Victor’s eyes, boosted by [Enhance Senses], saw Norm lying on the grass, lazing around.
His walk turned into a jog, and after a few seconds, Norm looked at his direction and waved.
Then Victor heard the alarm bell ring, which annoyed him a bit.
From the distance, it might have looked like a giant bull was running toward the village, so maybe it was his fault.
But they were [Guard] for fuck’s sake. Don’t they have any Skill to assess if something was a threat or not? Abyss, don’t they have any vision Skill? What a bunch of useless trash.
So, Victor dropped the bull to the ground, appeared in front of Norm in a second, told him to not give the bull [Bless Milk] under any circumstances, shouted to the [Guard] that there wasn’t any danger, and…
Victor collapsed to the ground.
Having Norm by his side made him relaxed, which was a mistake.
[Self-Diagnosis] practically told him he was fucked.
Almost all of his muscles were torn, and his bones were close to their breaking point.
He was more injured right now than after his fight with his parents.
Norm was saying something, but Victor couldn’t really hear it.
His vision was blurry, and after a few seconds, he passed out.
[Ever-Adapting Survivor Level 23!]
[Benefit Amplified (Milk) Obtained!]
[Soulmate Level 44!]
[Magnified Gift (Soulmate) Obtained!]
A system message appeared when Victor opened his eyes.
Cool, I leveled up twice.
He was in Norm’s room, sleeping on his new bed, healthy as could be.
[For Norm's Sake] made him able to push past his limit. It would destroy his body in the process, but it didn’t matter. No matter what injury he took, Norm could heal him right up.
Even though Victor got a new bed that actually fit him, he was still sleeping in Norm’s room. It wasn’t like that at first, but circumstances forced their hand.
Every night, Norm would hum Victor the Great, Brave, and Handsome. After it was finished, both of them without exception would fall asleep.
So, to prevent one of them from sleeping on the floor, they just decided to move Victor’s bed into Norm’s room.
Victor turned his attention to the new Skills he got.
Looking at the Skills’ names, it was obvious what the two new Skills did.
They were both pretty self-explanatory.
[Benefit Amplified (Milk)] would probably enhance any effect on any milk he drank. While [Magnified Gift (Soulmate)] would probably make anything, they gave to each other better.
I should test how strong both of their effects are. I wonder if [Magnified Gift (Soulmate) made the bull stronger.
Victor couldn’t help but grin to himself. In only one week, because of [Bless Milk], Victor already felt his body improving. And he knew the Skill was for healing, not training.
I can’t wait for Ver to create new types of milks.
Magic was the world of belief, and Ver told him that he could create all kinds of milk if he tried.
Milk that could increase someone’s height, strength, toughness, and more.
Of course, he wouldn’t ask Norm to give him all of that, Norm needed to increase his own strength way more than he did. But he had a plan that might work.
“Victor! You’re awake!”
Norm was running towards him, but as Victor thought he was coming to hug him, Norm strangled his neck.
A regular sword couldn’t even pierce his skin, so the choking was just Norm hugging his neck really gently.
The red face and grunting would tell you otherwise, but Victor knew better.
“What in the abyss are you thinking, bringing the bull here?! Are you out of your mind?!”
“It’s for your protection. Also, didn’t you say you wanted calves? Well, I found the perfect bull for you.”
Norm stopped in his futile effort of trying to choke him, and stared at him, expression thoughtful.
“Wait, he might actually be useful. I thought you were trying to make me take care of him because you want the bull as your pet. His poop is pretty big and gross, but…”
Victor couldn’t help but laugh at that.
Magical beasts were all gold-rank threats, and rather than being scared of the beast, Norm was more worried about having to do more work.
“So, I’m guessing the bull hasn’t caused any problem?”
“Jeb, his name is Jeb.”
“You already named him?”
“Well, yeah.”
“That’s… an interesting name.”
Norm looked proud of himself, and Victor was trying really hard to not wince.
Whatever, Jeb is still better than Dap.
“He’s been behaving?”
“Yeah, of course he is, he’s a bull.”
“Why do you talk like bulls have a reputation for being docile?”
“Because they are? All the bulls I met were pretty nice. I used to ride one when I was a kid.”
Just as Victor was about to complain, he stopped himself.
He never actually met a bull before, so arguing about it with someone who rode a bull when he was a kid seemed foolish.
But in the book I read, it said that bulls are territorial, and their magical-beast variants even more so. That was one of the reasons why I picked it. But hands on experience is better than book knowledge, I guess.
“Is Jeb alright?”
“He looked pretty injured, so I gave him like a fourth of the healthy milk I would have given to my dad. Don’t worry, I didn’t use [Bless Milk].”
“So, he’s fine?”
“I saw him running around a few minutes ago. So, probably?”
Victor breathed a sigh of relief, and then he finally digested what Norm said.
“Give him healthy milk? How long have I been asleep?”
“Oh, just one day.”
“Thank the stars.”
Norm punched Victor in the chest.
“Sleeping for a day is long, you idiot. I immediately ran here when I sensed that you were awake.”
“You can do that?”
“Yeah, and for your punishment for being an idiot, you were prohibited from training today.”
Norm hopped off his bed, and exaggeratedly stomped off out of the room.
“You will be playing with me and Jeb, today.”
Then, Norm slammed the door shut. It created a loud sound.
“Sorry, didn’t mean to do that.”
Victor couldn’t help but smile.
For a ‘punishment,’ it sounded like a lot of fun.
Norm watched as Victor and Jeb ‘played’ together.
How is throwing each other around considered playing?
At first, he was having a lot of fun riding Jeb everywhere. But Jeb got bored and started to ignore him.
Norm felt that Jeb was bored because he couldn’t go into his top speed without Norm falling off of him.
They tried it once, and thankfully Victor was there to catch him.
When Jeb started ignoring Norm, Victor called him a ‘lazy, fat slob.’ One thing led to another, and suddenly Victor and the bull were having fun, ramming each other.
For their play, both of them had to go very far so they wouldn’t destroy everything around them. And, also, because Victor was butt naked.
Not wanting to feel left out, Norm asked to join them.
He regretted it now; he was bored.
Both of them were injured from the play, so if Norm joined them, he would be dead in less than a second.
They could afford to be injured because Norm could heal both of them.
After giving the bull healthy milk, Norm gained a level in [Milk Saint]. He was a level 14 now, and more importantly, gained a new Skill, [Healing Properties (Milk)].
It was a Passive Skill that made any milk he produced, well, have healing properties.
Victor was the one who figured it out, Norm just thought it was an Active Skill that he couldn’t activate because he didn’t have enough mana or soul energy.
The bull was still forbidden to drink any [Bless Milk] for whatever reason, but his new Skill could heal any injury the bull had in an hour.
Norm still didn’t know why Victor forbade the bull from drinking [Bless Milk]. But he trusted him.
Of course, Norm could just ask why, but he really didn’t want Victor to lecture him.
Ten minutes a day was his limit!
I guess I have to try much harder when Ver is able to stay up more than ten minutes every day.
Norm had conflicting thoughts about it, but in the end, his love for his friend was greater than his laziness.
“System! I want Ver to wake up longer! I want Ver to wake UP LONGER! I WANT VER—”
“What are you doing?”
“Telling the system what I want.”
“If you’re bored, you could just leave, you know.”
Norm didn’t want to be left out, but standing here doing nothing while his friends had fun without him was torture, so he ultimately accepted the offer.
He didn’t need the two of them to have fun, he had eight friends waiting for him, and they were not as violent as these two.
In the following week, something strange kept happening.
Norm’s [Villager]Class kept leveling up, and he didn’t know why.
It even changed into [Harbinger of Hope], and he was already level fourteen in it.
He even got three new Skills: [Lesser Luck], [Danger Sense], and [Greatly Increased Intelligence].
According to Victor, his level 10 Skill, [Lesser Luck] made his luck, well, better. He won nine out of ten times in a game of rock-paper-scissors with Victor, and the Skill probably did more than that, but he really didn’t want to bother testing it further.
[Danger Sense] was a pretty common Skill, so Victor knew what it did. The Skill would warn the user one minute in advance of any danger. It wouldn’t tell how big or what the threat was, but it was still really useful.
[Greatly Increased Intelligence] increased his intelligence. That was it.
When he asked Victor why his Class had changed and why it was leveling so fast, he said it was because [Healing Properties (Milk)] made the milk he sold cure people of various sicknesses and injuries.
It made sense to Norm, so he never thought about it again.
Besides, leveling up a BlackClass was always a good thing, and even if he didn’t understand what the Class meant, what was the worst thing that could happen?
