“Mgh…”
It was already late at night.
Sunk in a deep sleep on her bed, Warfarin woke up for some reason.
Perhaps she needed to use the restroom, or maybe it was just a random whim, but in her groggy state, she noticed that the lights in the main hall of the old house were still on.
“Are those two still awake?
It’s really late…”
As the gears in her head finally clicked into place and her mind cleared, Warfarin couldn’t help but marvel at how well youngsters these days could pull all-nighters.
She initially wanted to go back to sleep.
But on a sudden whim, she crawled out of her bare bed, planning to see what on earth Lucifer and Ermengarde were up to at this hour.
Stepping quietly out of her room, illuminated by the light from the hall, Warfarin saw Lucifer and Ermengarde practically piled on top of each other on the sofa.
“Oh, so they’re just doing…
Wait, what?!”
Despite her usually dense nature, Warfarin was instantly jolted awake once she got a clear look at their posture.
Wait, wait…
this wasn’t right, was it?
Had she slept for ten years?
How long had it even been?
How did Lucifer and Ermengarde end up together already?
What baffled Warfarin even more was why Lucifer would rather do this kind of thing with Ermengarde instead of her.
She was here first!
Even if she wasn’t particularly well-endowed, surely she was better than Ermengarde’s concave basin!
Did Lucifer seriously prefer younger girls?
Perhaps the blood rushed to her head, causing her to lose her mind for a moment, because Warfarin immediately called out to them.
“Hey.
Aren’t you two being a bit too cozy?”
Sure enough, Warfarin’s shout made Lucifer and Ermengarde, who were physically pressed together, freeze in place.
Lucifer didn’t seem surprised at all, as if he had already sensed Warfarin waking up, but Ermengarde was sweating bullets.
“Ah?
Lady Warfarin?
Aren’t you…
sleeping?”
The young Lich was well aware of how compromising her current position with Lucifer was.
Yet even after being caught red-handed by Warfarin, Lucifer showed no intention of moving away.
This only intensified the embarrassment of Ermengarde, who was pinned beneath him, though she felt too awkward to just push him off.
“I was afraid that if I didn’t wake up now, some other noises would wake me up later.”
Having lost all sleepiness, Warfarin walked down the stairs, looking at Lucifer and Ermengarde with a highly complex expression.
Seeing that Lucifer’s upper body was still pinning Ermengarde down, Warfarin finally couldn’t help but ask:
“Don’t you plan on getting off the young girl first?
I didn’t know your urges were this strong.”
To this, Lucifer answered Warfarin’s question with absolute confidence.
“I’m just curious about Ermengarde’s ‘hole,’ and she didn’t say no.”
“It’s a ‘void rift’!
Lucifer, stop saying things that are so easy to misunderstand!”
Ermengarde quickly chimed in to defend herself against Lucifer’s suggestive phrasing.
Although she was the one who had started this wordplay game in the first place, she was currently in no mood to find it funny.
“A ‘void rift’?”
After Ermengarde explained everything, Warfarin finally realized that Lucifer was just taking a close look at Ermengarde’s void rift.
Otherwise, it wouldn’t make any sense, given that Ermengarde’s figure was even less impressive than hers.
But then, why didn’t Lucifer just explain the situation from the start?
Vibrant crimson eyes met scarlet vertical pupils.
Reflected in Warfarin’s eyes was Lucifer’s half-smiling expression.
Of course, Lucifer had lived two lifetimes totaling 160 years; his brain hadn’t completely turned into a Perro’s.
How could he not see through the little calculations Ermengarde and Warfarin were making in their heads?
He wasn’t some generic shounen protagonist who was denser than a brick.
He just wanted to have a bit of fun.
“Phew…
I thought I was going to be taken…”
As Lucifer took a few steps back, Ermengarde let out a sigh of relief, clutching her non-existent chest.
For a split second, she had genuinely believed Lucifer was going to make a move on her.
“If you want that to happen, I wouldn’t mind accommodating you.”
“Doing that kind of thing right now is way too early!
At least, we should…”
As she spoke, Ermengarde, already lacking confidence, blushed furiously from head to toe, and her voice completely trailed off.
Seeing this, Warfarin’s eyes turned completely flat, like a dead fish’s.
“So, you two have been fooling around all this time just to mess with…
what, a Lich’s void rift?”
“But it’s really amazing.
It’s just like a certain blue cat’s four-dimensional pocket—you can put anything in it and take it back out.”
“Isn’t that just standard for Liches?
What’s so fascinating about that…”
Warfarin wore a deeply helpless expression.
Another half hour passed, and the night light in the hall of the old house still hadn’t been turned off.
In fact, there seemed to be one more shadow gathered in front of the sofa.
“Um…”
Looking closely, the two Sanguines—one tall, one short—were huddled together right in front of the Lich girl’s chest, throwing out sharp criticisms from time to time.
“So a Lich’s void rift actually comes in different shapes…”
“If you fill it to the brim, will it explode?”
“I’m a bit curious about the relationship between the Lich race and subspace…”
“Do you think if we poured some liquid inside, it would…”
Warfarin and Lucifer chatted back and forth about Ermengarde’s void rift.
The bizarre and awkward atmosphere finally made Ermengarde lose her composure completely.
“It won’t explode!
Once it’s full, you just can’t fit anything else in!
And normal liquids poured inside will be slowly absorbed!”
Flustered and ashamed, Ermengarde shouted her answers while pushing the two Sanguines away.
“No respect for your elders…
Whatever, I’m going back to sleep.
Just don’t make any weird noises, you two.”
Seeing that Ermengarde hadn’t answered a single one of her questions, Warfarin, finding it boring now, stopped bothering them.
She turned around and headed upstairs to get some catch-up sleep.
Meanwhile, Lucifer stood to the side, looking thoughtful at Ermengarde’s answers.
If non-solid, free-flowing liquids poured into Ermengarde’s void rift would be absorbed, then would certain unconventional liquids…
Ermengarde seemed to think of this as well, and the tips of her ears, hidden beneath her deep blue hair, turned redder and redder.
“Ahem!
I’m tired now!
Goodnight for today!
See you tomorrow!”
Not wanting to talk about it any further or be teased, Ermengarde fled like a startled beast, running up to the second floor in the blink of an eye and diving straight into a room.
Lucifer couldn’t help but smile warmly at the sight, before turning off the night light in the hall.
The old house, which had been noisy since early evening, finally welcomed a moment of peace in the latter half of the night.
