As Sen, Corvin, and Orson walked, Orson learned more about this realm as he looked up at the islands above. "So the amount of islands in this realm is infinite?"
Sen shook his head. "No one knows, but the more you keep going up, the more islands you will see, so people just concluded that it’s infinite."
Orson then asked, "But how do you know the core of the world is inside the sun?"
Sen and Corvin smiled to themselves. "Easy, really, because it is. I mean, look around you. Everywhere, even when you are entering the breach, the sun is exactly based on some research." Sen puffed out smoke from his mouth as he continued. "Eternity Breach cores are hard to find because they span a whole continent, but we found something. I mean, think about it. You are looking for a power source that is holding the whole realm. Where else would it be?"
Orson looked at the sun and replied, "The most brightest place in the realm, I guess."
Sen smiled, and Corvin shouted, "Bingo!"
As they walked, they reached the landing where the beast was, and then Orson stopped and asked, "But why don’t you just take us to the sun?"
As he said this, he looked at Sen, asking the question on his mind.
Sen smiled. "Even though I’m an Eclipser, I have to have a visual image of where I want to go in my mind before I can go there, and also I can’t use too much of my power because of my burden." He paused. "I mean, in your eyes, I am the most powerful person you have ever spoken to, not to brag, but look—before you ask what burden is, when you become an Awakened, you will understand. Me just standing here telling you all this is not helping, really, so let’s drop it."
Orson just looked down at the monster body on the ground, saying nothing.
"So there it is. Go and get it. I will open a portal back to District 12."
Orson looked at Corvin. "What about the mining team?"
"Don’t worry. With what we are about to make with the cores in your ring space, we are rich, so let’s go."
Corvin and Orson moved down. Their target was the Ravager core. On the ground below them was the body of a giant wolf—a Ravager rank.
Meanwhile, in District 2, a young woman was looking at the mirror in front of her. She was dressed in a blue dress with a coat on as she looked outside. The first snow of the season was falling, and it had to choose today to fall, but still, nothing was going to make Lenora’s mood bad. Why? Because she and her best friend were going for a girls’ night out. She may be married and crippled, but there was still life outside. Although, if we are being honest, those were Emily’s words, not Lenora’s.
She looked up and down and smiled to herself. It was still four o’clock, so there was still time. She looked at her phone. Why had Orson not called? It’s not like I care, she told herself. I just want to know if he is dead or not. But still, he should try to call me sometime. I mean, whatever.
With that, Lenora just looked back up at the mirror and smiled as she rolled her wheelchair down. It is not only Orson that can go out. She as well can.
The streetlights were beautiful as the sun descended on the horizon, painting the world in an orange hue.
At another part of the city, a woman was looking at Emily, who just sighed and picked up a bag from the ground. The woman smiled, watching her before collecting the bag from her hands. "Good for nothing Emily. Trash should know trash, you know where you belong, and do not try to go above it. Understood?"
Emily wanted to say something, but the woman repeated herself. "Understood."
Emily said and nodded. "Good."
As Emily stood up and watched her mother walk away, if anyone had heard the way she speaks to Emily, they would have thought she was the maid rather than the daughter of the house. Emily was part of a small upcoming family house, Argus. They are not a well-known family. Worst of all, they are a declining family. The family had ridden the Storm Saint’s fame because their daughter was friends with the Storm Saint and her family, but now Emily was nothing more than an old relic to the family, and they do not have time for relics.
Worst part was Emily’s mother. Even in the year 2092, she still had old beliefs of males leading the family rather than females, and Emily awakening a Crimson class life gate just made the belief stronger. Emily sighed to herself and looked down at the time. It was getting later. She had to go and pick up Lenora.
With that, she took one of the vehicles in the home. Just because House Argus was declining did not mean it did not have money. As Emily started the hover car, it glided away from the lot and moved with speed. About twenty minutes later, the car stopped at Lenora’s home. Emily got out of the car and walked toward the front door before tapping the door button twice. After a while of waiting, a young woman stepped out of the door in her wheelchair.
Lenora looked up, and the two smiled as they looked at each other. Lenora and Emily hugged. Life had been hard for both Lenora and Emily, but they did not let it bring them down.
"So what’s the plan, bestie?"
Orson would have been shocked to hear how Lenora’s cold voice had turned to that of a baby as she talked to her friend. No, it was both their voices that changed as Emily helped Lenora into the car before they glided away.
Emily started. "So I was thinking, why don’t we go to the movies? I mean, you have been home alone, and I heard you had no bachelorette party."
Lenora smiled a little bit. It did not reach her eyes. "The wedding was last minute, so there was not a lot of things."
Emily smiled. "So gist me. How was the wedding and your first night with your husband?"
Lenora looked down with a smile. "Hmm, nothing much happened."
Emily looked at her. "You sly fox. I’m sure your night was magical, and don’t you lie to me. I mean, who will resist a charming woman like yourself?"
But Lenora was not lying. Orson did resist her all night. And worst, all throughout the day, the guy did not message her once. But no need for Emily to know that. This was their night out. She just wanted fresh air outside, away from that cold house.
Lenora looked at Emily and asked, "So where are we going?"
Emily just smiled and said, "You will see when we get there."
