Tears that were supposed to fall form his eyes.
Instantly dries off into the ether.
Leaving a face that is contorted with pain and fear.
Loran looks at his mother and finds that her body has charred.
Her face is impossible to recognize and it is hauntingly silent.
His father’s corpse condition is similar.
As he come back to his senses, he finds out that his own body isn’t nearly as charred as his parents.
It is burnt at some parts and it feels numb.
But he can still move.
Perhaps, his mother has shielded that deadly initial blow and protected her child.
With this terrifying scene in front of him which is quite blurry to him.
That is because he has stared at the burning sky a little more than five seconds.
It has destroyed most of his retina.
He can still see but it is quite blurry.
Because of this, he panics and isn’t sure what to even do at this point.
Loran’s body jolts awake and try to remove his mother’s charred body from himself.
The charred body crumbs and he easily set himself free.
He looks at the crumbed pieces and tries to cry.
But no matter how much he cries, the tears evaporate instantly.
So, all that is remained is a haunting shriek that continues to scream out for his parents.
Soon, he calms down.
It is quiet but immensely hot.
The burning sky is still falling.
He doesn’t dare look up at the sky.
Fearing that one more look with lead to permanent blindness.
He isn’t a child.
He knows much more than a child and he can adapt much quicker.
The pain of losing his parents makes him want to just lay down and cry over and over.
Even if he isn’t exactly a child.
His emotions are much closer to a child than an adult.
He feels guilty that he needs to leave his parents charred remains.
But after burning sky’s initial blow.
The environment has become much hotter but it is still survivable.
Maybe if he moves quick.
He might be able to escape.
His mom and dad have protected their child instead of themselves.
He doesn’t want to make their final sacrifice a waste.
He wants to make it count like it is their last wish.
So, with a heavy heart.
Loran runs and tires to find a safe place.
However, even though he wants to do that.
There are too many obstacles that is in front of him.
His eyes have gone blurry, his joints are stiff and numb, everything is destroyed and there is a time limit.
There is no world where he can survive this apocalyptic scenario.
But regardless of this, he still forces himself to move as the burning sky continues to fall.
He sees form his blurry vision that there are a lot of charred corpses on the road like his parents.
However, some aren’t as charred and looks a little less burnt.
But they are torn apart.
‘What happened here?
Did someone kill them?’
Then a memory comes to mind.
The time he heard that there is a war that is happening near the borders of Livlong.
He didn’t pay any attention to that topic because it made him fearful.
He intentionally tried to ignore those conversations of his father so he won’t worry about such things.
He had thought that War couldn’t reach to the capital city.
He has taken his father’s words at face value and accepted them.
He hid behind his mother and father as to protect himself.
In the end though, they did die while protecting him.
Loran suddenly cries for help.
Suddenly, humanoid figures rise from far away to look at him.
His eyes are too blurry so it is impossible to tell what are these people or who are they.
However, one thing is clear they’re not here to help.
These humanoid figures watch him with merciless eyes.
One of them draws their bow to aim it at Loran.
He stops running as his feet has gone stiff, his lunges are burning and everything in his body is giving up.
However, there is still a little light within him that wants to live.
So, Loran screams out with all that is left in him.
“I don’t want to die…I DON’T WANT TO DIE!”
Then a arrows like projectile is shot at him which beheads him.
He doesn’t even realize that his head is detached from his body for a sec.
However, he has died and this is the ending of his first incarnation.
***
2nd incarnation
Age zero
Cries of a new life is heard by many ears.
The father of the newly born child run towards him as a joyous smile appear on their faces.
Both parents smile at each other as the child continue crying.
His mother falls asleep and his father takes a sigh of relief.
It has been a long day and she needs rest.
He has just arrived after his middle-class job and he is glad that he didn’t miss much.
How could he miss his baby’s first cries?
Father picks up the baby who is still crying and smiles at his face.
He is so happy and he knows that his wife would be as much happy as him.
This is their first child after all.
He and his wife had picked a name for the baby a long time ago.
If the baby was a girl, then her name would’ve been Melissa.
But the baby is a boy and so his name will be…
“Hugo Vestlie”
After hearing that name, the baby still continues to cry.
He isn’t too worried as all babies cry after they’re born.
However, these cries aren’t normal.
They’re filled with agony, trauma and fear.
The baby looks normal from the outside.
But in reality, he isn’t able to comprehend this situation.
He is fearful of everything that is around him.
His eyes that is blurry cause of his tears makes him feel even more frightened.
In his mind, there is only one sentence.
‘I DON’T WANT TO DIE!’
