HELIO’S POV
As the years passed, Lorenzo got stronger and faster.
However, I was still expected to spar with him, even though I couldn’t shift.
But I had to get stronger, especially now that Mara was there.
I could never overpower Lorenzo or any wolf, for that matter, but I had to make the most of my situation.
Somehow, some way, I had to protect Mara if I ever needed to.
It started small.
First, I focused on learning to get hit in a way that caused least amount of damage.
Wolves were too fast.
I wouldn’t be able to dodge every attack they threw at me.
Lorenzo’s moves were erratic and impossible to follow.
Over time, however, they became more predictable, but that didn’t help because he became stronger and faster each time.
And even if I could keep up I couldn’t dodge all his attacks.
And what’s worse, he wasn’t even fighting me at full strength when we sparred.
It felt discouraging but I didn’t give up.
It was best to focus on what I could control.
I watched the sentinels when they trained, observing how they fought.
I also did research and watched videos online, and learn the way humans fought.
Particularly those in the military or that do martial arts.
I also focused on keeping fit and being as nimble and quick on my feet even if I wasn’t as fast as a wolf it still helped.
I took care of my scent wolves couldn’t easily pick it up.
I decided to take up knives weapon to substitute having no claws.
Then came testing for weak spots on wolves.
I had to do it secretly, however.
Not unless I wanted to cause trouble.
Higher ranks tend to think you’re challenging them if you suddenly one up them.
As a bastard child and wolfless, it was best to stay under the radar.
Over time I saw my efforts begin to have an effect.
The goal wasn’t to win, I would never be able but to, but to cause enough damage to cause an opening incase I ever needed one.
When I turned 18, I still hadn’t shifted, and it became clear I was probably never going to shift.
I would hear the servants all around the house say.
Having a wolf is what made you a man.
Despite having no wolf, I managed to pass the sentinel acceptance exam and became a Salvador sentinel.
My training to get stronger in other ways had paid off.
Of course I got a lot of side eyes from other sentinels who wondered why someone wolfless was accepted.
That aside, becoming a sentinel meant I received a salary.
I could afford to get Mara an education.
I couldn’t leave the pack, I wasn’t educated so finding a job elsewhere would be hard especially one that pays as much as a sentinel of a core four pack.
At the very least she was able to shift when she turned 13.
So at least she wouldn’t get the exact same treatment as me.
But she was getting bullied because I couldn’t.
I did my best to tell her to keep a low profile and ignore what they are saying.
But Mara was a spitfire who couldn’t help but talk back.
When Mara turned 15, I saw a light at the end of the tunnel.
After years of being patient, she would turn 18 in a couple of years.
Just 3 more years and Mara and I could leave the pack.
We just had keep maintaining a low profile and we could leave.
We were so close.
Then everything changed when Alpha Mendez came into the picture.

ROSALIA’S POV
The following day, I was shown around the mansion and the different wings I was allowed to visit.
There were 3 wings I couldn’t go, including Lorenzo’s.
They told me I could access the winery to have a taste of the different Salvador brand wines.
I was excited and open to the
I wasn’t allowed a phone.
Lorenzo said I wouldn’t need.
I don’t know maybe he thought I would try to talk to Alphonso or something.
Before the wedding, I had stashed my mother’s jewellery and necklaces at locker/safe business to protect them incase things hadn’t gone according to plan at the wedding.
I would need to access it to get David’s cut.
But with Lorenzo’s indefinite house arrest that was going to be a little problem. New chapters come out on novelping.com first.
What’s worse I can’t contact him without a phone.
Hopefully Lorenzo would let me move around more soon.
Surely a guest was allowed to move around Madrid a bit.
I spend the day mostly wandering around the place.
Lorenzo was busy working and I assumed Helio was under house arrest somewhere in the mansion.
I walked down the hallway and entered one of the rooms.
I was bored as hell in the massive mansion as I waited for Lorenzo to call me again.
“Where is she?” I heard a servant yell from behind me in the hallway.
“Alpha Salvador will kill us if he finds out we’ve lost her,” one of them said.
My eyes narrowed, wondering what that was about.
I entered the library.
Might as well spend my time reading.
I walked from bookshelf to bookshelf searching for something interesting to read.
Most of the books were on the history of Salvador.
Other books were about grapes, olives, wine, and olive oil.
Nothing particularly interesting.
It’s not that i was expecting
I reached into my jean pocket and took out Lorenzo’s cufflink.
I still hadn’t received another vision.
I was wondering if I had to steal something else from Lorenzo for it to work.
No, but I’ve had countless visions with my mother’s possessions.
I
Long fiery red hair caught my attention.
Panic ensued for a second.
I was beginning to associate that hair colour with trouble.
It was a young girl, maybe around 15 or 16 years old.
She was seated on the floor, leaning against a bookshelf far in the corner.
I instantly recognised her.
“You…” I said, recalling the vision I’d had about her the other day.
Helio’s sister.
