ADRIAN

A low grunt rumbled through my chest as Giovanni Marino shoved me into the passenger seat of his lousy car.

I curled my fingers into a tight ball as I glared hard at him. Giovanni inched closer, his neck hovering over my face and I held my breath so I won’t be able to inhale him.Full novel: Resisting The Mobster Boss (BL) — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

"The fuck you think you’re doing?"

Giovanni chuckled, I could tell he did because I saw his chest vibrated against my arm as he tugged my seat forward, fastening my seatbelt for me.

He moved back a little so I could see the smirk on his face. "Driving my boyfriend to work."

"This is literally kidnapping." I flared up, throwing my head back against the headrest and let out a harsh groan. "And please stop calling me your boyfriend."

"Why? Aren’t we, like, boyfriends?" He said, eyebrows drew together as if he was surprised by my remark.

"We are no boyfriends, okay? Just please stop already." I hissed, watching him as he shut the passenger door and rounded the

car.

He got into the driver’s seat and turned around to face me. I had almost thought he

was going to drop the conversation but it seemed like the bastard wasn’t done getting on my skin.

"If we’re dating and you don’t want me to call you my boyfriend, then what should I call you?" Giovanni stressed out the words as if it was an important question, and inched a little closer.

This damn thug won’t stop rubbing my mistake on my face. Fucking good.

"Nothing. Don’t call me anything." I said through a gritted teeth. "And who says we’re dating?"

"You." He said, wiggling his eyebrows.

I could have laughed at that silly gesture if I wasn’t going out of my mind right now.

What the fuck did he mean why ’me’?

"What?" I scoffed, pulling my backpack up to my chest.

"You said and I quote, ’please be my boyfriend’." He smirked, his face lit up and it disgust the shit out of me.

I wanted to reach forward and smack that silly expression off his face.

I scrunched up my nose, flaring up with anger. "I didn’t say..."

"You don’t like me calling you my boyfriend? Got it." Giovanni grinned, cutting me off my sentence. "Might be because it’s less glamorous."

"Are you even listening to me?" I cried out, grabbed my seatbelt and I was about to unfasten it when the bastard started the car

and I sighed, dropping the seatbelt.

"Yes, love. I’m listening now." He said, taking his eyes off the floor.

"Ahh, fuck." I sighed, leaning back into my seat. I gave up. He could just drive us into a fucking tree and I would be okay with it.

When I didn’t say anything else, I expected the stupid thug to respect my decision to drop the conversation and just focus on the room. Heaven forbid I stay for another five minutes with him in this car.

Giovanni pressed the horn abruptly, making me flinched in my seat. I whipped my gaze in his direction and I saw him grinning like an idot.

"Would you rather I call you baby, or...

Sweetheart?" He said with all seriousness, making me wonder if he’d hit his head somewhere before coming here.

"None. Please." I said shortly, taking my eyes out of the window, watching the passing houses.

"Little love?" That damn cocky voice of Giovanni called out beside me and I almost choke on my saliva.

What part of "we are not dating," did he not understand? Why the fuck would he want to give me a stupid pet name so bad?

"Will you please just shut up?" I barked, anger ignited fury inside of me and I didn’t even know if it was wise to get mad at him.

First, he was a fucking thug and my safety wasn’t guaranteed around him. Second, his damn family are after my father and the purpose of his visit to my place still remains unknown.

So I just can’t afford to get mad at him to the point of yelling, but Giovanni wasn’t making it easy for me. Fuck him very much.

"So cute." I heard him say with a soft chuckle.

I wanted to smack my face against the window, I would do just anything to get out of this car. Just when I almost gave up on my life, Berry Hour came into view and I can’t help but let out a deep breath.

"We’re here..." I couldn’t even complete my sentence before searching for the seatbelt to unfasten it the moment the car came to an halt.

I felt a strong grip on my arm and I wished I was a dog right now so I could bite his hand off.

"Wait, I’ll get the door for you." He offered, pulling me to face him.

I sneered, giving him a disgusting glare.

"Like heck I’ll agree to that."

"You’re no fun." He sighed and let go of my hand which I couldn’t be more thankful for.

"I’m glad you know that." I smirked as I grabbed my backpack, opened the door and stepped out.

Giovanni did the same and I just wished he would get his stupid ass back into his car before anyone sees us together. It would ruin my damn image if anyone should spot me with a guy like him.

A chief police’s son spotted with a gang leader? No thank you.

"Call me when you’re done with work?"

Giovanni called after me as I hurried towards the shop.

I hastily turned around and and flip him a bird. "Please just leave already."

I didn’t wait around to see if he has gotten back into his car or not, the plan was to get away from him. As fast as possible.

Walking into the shop, there were no customers yet and it was understandable since it always takes about twenty minutes after opening time before customers will starts storming in.

I walked over to the counter in hope to get the day started without any more hassle but then, there were my coworkers.

"Woahhhhh." Grace exclaimed, smiling beautifully as she restocked the orange bowl without even looking at it.

"Fucking sweet!" Tobi giggled, rubbing

Grace’s back as he stood on his toes, glancing at something outside of the shop.

I rolled my eyes, they must have seen something judging with the way both Grace and Tobi, my stupid coworkers that I might have loved so much, grinning like they had just seen their favourite movie star.

"I saw him." Said Grace, dropping the last orange into the bowl, facing me with expectation written all over her face.

"Who’s that hottie?" Tobi whined, pressing his hands over his cheeks, making cute puppy eyes.

"No one." I groaned, shoving past them to get settled in.

In as much as I loved them and they had been trying to ship me with every hot men that came to the shop for smoothie since I came out to them as gay, I still didn’t appreciate them fanning all over me to tell them about Giovanni because there was

nothing to tell.

I might and might not have asked the Mr.

Hottie to fake being my boyfriend at my other job, last night. Well, my father and Mr. hottie’s family were enemies and Mr. Hottie seemed to have a mission. Well, Mr. Hottie might have bothered me a little this morning but it did seem like Mr. Hottie was here to murder me.

Phew! Wished I could tell them that without sounding stupid. So instead of telling them anything I just grabbed my apron and cap and put them on.

Grace came to stand beside me, linking her arm with mine. "Come on, baby D."

"You guys won’t let it go? Good." I sighed, rubbing my face and started thinking of how to say this, or how what to call Giovanni so I won’t give anything away.

"So...?" Tobi said, pressing his lips together while wiggling his eyebrows.

Shit! Not that shit again.

That small gesture reminded me of Giovanni and I didn’t want to think of the moment in

his car at all.

"That’s my uncle, happy?" I said, giving them a dangerous smirk.

"Ishhh." Grace groaned, obviously not satisfied with what I said. She stepped away from me and walked away to set the table.

"Speaking of Uncle, one cute dude is over there, he’s looking for you." Tobi said, he made to walk away but turned around and smile.

"I mean, he’s your exact copy." He added before disappearing into the backroom.

My exact copy? I gasped, my eyes widened in shock as I hastily stepped away from the counter, eye searching the area and I saw someone at the far end of the room, his back was on me and he had a hoodie over his head.

"Aston!" I called out impatiently, rushing over to his table. Even though his back was on me, I could recognise my brother anywhere in the world. Even if it’s in the dark.

"Hey?" I said, taking the seat across from him. My brother slowly raised his head to stare at me. It was as if I was looking into a mirror. The only thing different about my faces was the mole and freckles that I had which he didn’t.

"Adrian." He smiled, looking away from me nervously.

My heart gave a loud thump, whatever Aston was here for wasn’t good.

Looking around the room to make sure no one was watching us, I lowered my voice and asked. "Aston, why are you here? Are you okay? How did you know where to find me?"

"Mom’s in the hospital." He said, staring deep into my eyes. I saw fear etched on his face and the way he fidgeted with his fingers made my heart beating so fast in my chest.

"What?!" I gasped, my heart hammering hard against my chest.

Mom was in the hospital? Why? What happened last night? Did someone hurt her?

Was it the Marino family ?
