> Compilation completed.
> The 'First Light' and the 'Last Darkness' were combined to supercede the divine authority over the Archangel Core of Archangel Trael.
> Archangel Trael has become bound to you.
I stared at the Archangel, watching as its... well, 'his', I suppose, eyes flickered gold, black, white, and then back to the clear blue of his disguise.
Trael... 'Trevor Lightfellow', bowed his head and said, "My lord. I have awakened. What is your command?"
"Hm." I placed my hand on my chin, staring at Trevor. "So it's a biological entity programmed via photons to induce a personality matrix, but with an axiomatic core. Meant to be adaptable, but rigid in its boundaries... kind of like chained AI in the past, huh?"
Trevor nodded. "Yes, my lord. According to my memories, my nature as an archangel is indeed similar to what this world calls 'Artificial Intelligence.'"
"Right, right..." I hummed. "Mm. In that case, I 'stole' you, but you still have all your previous abilities, information, and directives, yes?"
"That is correct, my lord."
"Good. Then continue as we agreed upon. But make sure to omit information about me and Yura. You're from a world of divine beings, right? They probably won't even consider you've been compromised like this."
Trevor let out an amused smile and said, "Too true, my lord. My superiors have an absolute view of power and authority. To think a 'mortal' could not only subvert such power and authority but supercede it... unthinkable."
"Alright. Then shoo." I waved my hand. "Go keep an eye out for demons and stuff. I'm sure that's a higher priority for the heavens or whatever anyway, right?"
"Of course, my lord. Then I will be off. By your grace." Trevor nodded and then quickly left. Probably to make that report he was planning to before I intercepted.
I let him go and then headed back to Yura's house. As I did though, I reflexively clenched and unclenched my left hand. "...It came with me, huh?"
I hadn't tried it since I had been reincarnated. But the stupid action I took in my past life... the consequences of it seemed to carry over into this one.
> Notice!
> The Hunter Ability System (HAS) is meant to provide additional abilities to the defenseless humans against the unfair interdimensional incursions.
> You have been provided 'Compilation' by the system, but the Administrator recognizes your accolades from your previous lifetime.
> The Administrator politely requests operating within the bounds of the system for as long as possible.
> 'Compilation' is a flexible compromise to reflect User's capabilities without breaking the framework the Administrator has crafted.
> ADMIN: I want humanity to steadily grow and stand on equal footing with the rest of existence. If you take direct action before they grow, they'll flock to you instead of being independent. Please stand by for moments when threats exceeding their measure emerge.
A flicker of system messages, sent through the Hunter Ability System.
Something that shouldn't have appeared again... but it seemed like I was an exception.
I carefully read the messages. Then I nodded. "I see... So that's how it is."
I was wondering how I came back after what I did in my past life. It seemed like I was plucked into this one.
Rather rude, considering I had wanted to rest.
But it seemed like this 'Administrator' was genuine in his intentions to make humanity advance to a higher level. And he even went out of his way to accommodate me...
I chuckled. "Alright. I'll forgive you then, Administrator. Since it seems like you're on our side, I'll let you dragging me to this world slide. Especially since I have a lovely partner to take care of now."
> ADMIN: Thank you for your understanding. orz
> ADMIN: I won't restrict your actions. But please have faith in this humanity. They are different from the world you know.
"...Is that so?" I murmured, carefully reading the latest messages. "...Okay. I'll have faith, mysterious higher being. You're at least more communicative than the big G from my past life."
> ADMIN: (T_T)
> ADMIN: I really appreciate it! I'm doing my best!
"...I suddenly have less faith."
> ADMIN: :O
> ADMIN: Nooooooooo! Have faith! I'll keep you all safe! Just give me time! Buy me time! Promise! Pinky promise!
"...What are you, a kid?"
> ADMIN: ...Technically yes?
"..."
This explains so much, and yet so little...
> ADMIN: I'm busy, so I won't be able to talk for a long, long, long time! Like super long! But live well! Love you humans lots! Work hard! I'll make sure you all reincarnate into happier lives!
After that message, which brought up EVEN MORE questions, I decided to just roll with the punches.
Sure, all of humanity was protected by what seemed like a young kid watching over us like a Sims world.
But at least he... she? Probably she. She gave off cutesy goddess vibes.
At least she actively cared about us and was doing her best.
A hardworking and limited goddess trying was always better than a negligent and omnipotent deity.
I absolutely wasn't bitter about gods or anything. Absolutely not.
"Wait. Did she just say 'reincarnate into better lives?'"
I glared at the empty space, trying to will the messages to come back.
But they didn't.
Of course.
"...Well, I guess that confirms it at least."
Me being here wasn't an accident since there was a benevolent deity out there plucking human souls and placing them in better lives.
And it seemed said benevolent deity liked me a lot.
"...Eh. I can reassure Yura at least."
The Hunters who died here didn't just dissipate into nonexistence.
At least, not like on my Earth.
...I'd confirmed THAT little fact the hard way.
Anyway...
"I should probably head back before Yura wakes up."
Knowing her, she'd be panicked thinking that I smashed and dashed.
"...I'm a terrible person."
I chuckled and ran back to her house.
===
"You jerk! After all that, I thought... I thought...!"
I pulled Yura into my arms and kissed her forehead. "I told you. I'm not going anywhere."
Yura clung to my shirt, her naked body pressed against me. "Idiot! I hate you! I hate you! I thought you just... that everything...!"
"I know, I know." I gently caressed her hair. "But I'm serious. I'm yours. I won't leave you alone."
"...Make it up to me. Breakfast. I want steak."
I raised an eyebrow. "Steak? For breakfast?"
"Yes!" Yura rubbed her teary eyes and pouted. "You made me have a heartattack first thing in the morning! Get me steak! And... tuna! The expensive kind!"
"Okay, Love. I'll get your pregnancy cravings~" I chuckled and walked off.
"You'd better! ...Wait. PREGNANCY CRAVINGS?! I'm not- That's not...! Am I-? No, I can't since we... NEOOOOOOL!"
I laughed and blew her a kiss from around the corner, just as a blast of violet lightning scorched the wall. "Careful, Love. Think of our little one-"
"STOP IIIIIIITTTTTT! I can't handle this mood whiplash this early in the morning!" Yura huffed and plopped down in her bed, hugging a pillow. "...Meanie."
"Love you too. I'll be back. Promise." I walked back up and kissed her softly on the lips. "I love you, Yura. Rest. Relax. I'll be back. Always."
"...You'd better." Yura murmured.
I smiled at her again and then quietly closed her bedroom door behind me, headed outside.
Now, to explore Uptown at a speedrunner's pace to find the best ingredients for my lovely Yura...
And maybe a ring while I was at it. Just to calm her nerves.
...Okay, that's a lie. I was totally grabbing it to spring on her the moment she said something like 'then just marry me already!'
Ah, I should also pre-file a marriage certificate... Set up a joint account too...
