Chapter 6

Reverse Compilation

I held Yura close and said, "Relax, Love. Unlike you, one of us was prepared." I pointed to a wrapper on the floor, where a few birth control pill wrappers were scattered. Birth control pills that I made sure to feed her before we got too far last night.

...No, I won't answer why I have them.

Yura froze. Then she punched my chest. "You jerk! Ugh! You had me so scared...!"

I raised an eyebrow. "Says the lovely lady who jumped my bones. Who was the one who kept saying-"

"SHUT UP! SHUT UP!" Yura reached around and tried to smother me with a pillow. "SHUT UP!"

I laughed and kissed her.

Yura flinched and then moaned into my kiss, immediately relaxing. As she did, she mumbled, "Not fair. How are you doing that?"

I winked. "Maybe practice? Maybe beginner's luck? Or maybe..." I gently nibbled her chin. "I just love you that much?"

"...If you cheat on me, I'll kill you and then myself." Yura murmured and kissed me again.

I smiled and returned her kiss. "Wouldn't dream of it, Love. Now..." I carried her in my arms.

Yura was surprisingly light. That, or I underestimated my strength.

Either way, I swooped her up without any trouble.

"H-Hey!" Yura blushed. "You can't just...! I mean... I-I'll drip over the carpet, you dumbass...!"

I kissed her. "I'll clean it later. After I take a picture~"

"YOU PERVERT!"

Yura said that... but I could see the slight hitch in her breath as she mulled over my words.

Heh. Looks like I snagged myself someone just as kinky as me~

...Man, I was SO not a good person.

But anyway.

"Showertime. Now, no grabbing stuff, okay, Love?"

"Stop that! I'm not some p-p-pervert!"

"You say that, but your eyes are already staring down there~"

"SHUT UP!"

After I had my fill of teasing Yura, I headed off to my kitchen to make us some breakfast.

Pancakes, freshly cut fruit, some eggs... you know, the works.

Yura sat at the kitchen table, watching me cook. Then she said, "You're annoyingly competent."

I slid a plate of pancakes and fruit for her, along with eggs. Then I smiled and said, "Good. That means you won't leave me, right?" I teased her.

Yura blushed and then stabbed her pancakes with her fork. "...Stupid. You know I won't. Not after all... that."

I served myself a plate of breakfast and chuckled. "Obviously."

"Ugh..." Yura grumbled and stabbed a sliced strawberry, shoving it in her mouth. After viciously chewing on it, she tucked a strand of her violet hair behind her ear and mumbled, "How did I even end up like this?"

"Well, it all started when a certain someone demanded I take responsibility~"

"Shut it, you." Yura pointed her fork at me and huffed. "That's not what I meant, and you know it! I was talking about my sword! That was something Grandpa loaned me!"

"Oh~?" I smirked. "Well, you should have made it clearer, Love."

"Tch." Yura looked away and kept shoveling food in her mouth.

I ate a bit of my food too. Then I reached over and placed my hand over hers. "Do you feel better now though?"

Yura looked at me and glared, opening her mouth to retort. But then she saw my sincere expression and paused, lowering her gaze. "...Bastard. You did this on purpose, didn't you?"

I just smiled.

She was right. Although I definitely had fun teasing her and, well, taking advantage of her very delicate emotional state.

Again, not a good person here.

But anyway, while those were my intentions, I also wanted to distract her from what happened.

Although I didn't know the exact details, I DID know that a lot of people she knew had died while fighting Belial. And that she felt responsible for it.

So, for just a bit, I got her mind off it.

Yura sighed and gave me a weak smile. "I hate that you know me this well. It's not fair."

I winked. "I'm just very experienced, you see?"

Yura huffed. "Experienced my ass." She looked around the room and said, "This is completely a bachelor pad. No pictures, no decorations... you're just one of those weirdoes who spends all day working, aren't you?"

I laughed. "Well, you aren't wrong."

I DID live pretty spartan. My apartment was sparse, and I spent most of my day writing. So she was right on that part at least.

"Great." Yura pouted and rested her chin on her hands, glaring at me. But I could see the warmth in that glare, hidden beneath her fake animosity. "I just had to fall for some weirdo..."

I reached over and caressed her cheek. "Mm, well this weirdo hasn't fallen for you. But he's choosing to love you. So that's even better, isn't it?"

Yura's breath hitched. Then she looked away, pretending to be upset. "After all that, you aren't even in love with me? Bastard."

While her words were harsh, it was impossible to miss her glistening violet eyes, showing just how touched she was by my words.

I just chuckled. "Well, you can fall in and out of love. I don't like gambling, you see? So I'm just choosing to love you instead." I smiled and caressed her cheek with my right hand. "That choice won't change, you know?"

Yura froze, turning to look into my eyes. Then after a long moment, she quietly said, "Promise?"

I smiled. "No. I swear. Promises can be broken, you see? But an oath? That's unfading." I grabbed her hand and kissed the back of it. "I vow to love you, Yura. From now on."

Yura's eyes welled up and she said, "Stupid...! You're... supposed to say until the end of time or something. Idiot."

I chuckled. "Well." I leaned forward and whispered against her lips. "I'm very particular about my words, Love. And when I say from now on, I mean exactly that. A love without end."

"I hate you..." Yura mumbled those words, but she leaned forward for a kiss again, sighing against me.
