This page wasn’t blank like the others.

There were words written on it.

“That’s strange,” Ji-won said, raising an eyebrow as she leaned closer to the page.Full novel: Rewriting Fate: A Second Chance — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Kang Ji-won, I really like you,” the male lead said.

“You… You do, Han Yufan?”

He nodded.

“Yes, I do.”

Kang Ji-won smiled.

“Me too.”

He leaned in for a kiss.

Ji-won’s finger slowly traced the edge of the book as she frowned at the scene.

Hmm.

“What’s going on here now?”

One minute, you’re blank, and the next, you’re full of written words?

She turned to the next page.

Blank.

Another page.

Blank again.

“Oh, come on.”

Rolling her eyes, she returned to the page she had been reading.

For a moment, she wondered if she had imagined the whole thing as she stared at the words written neatly across the yellowed paper.

Then something moved.

She pulled the book closer.

Suddenly, the letters began lifting from the page.

“What the—?”

One by one, the words separated from the paper and drifted into the air.

It happened so quietly that Ji-won could only watch as entire sentences rose above the book, their shapes breaking apart until individual letters floated freely around her.

A cold shiver ran down her spine.

“Is this real?!”

She rubbed her eyes, then opened them.

The letters hadn’t disappeared.

If anything, they had become even more noticeable.

Each one carried a different colour, glowing softly against the dim room.

Some moved slowly while others drifted higher, making the whole scene look almost like a strange, moving constellation.

For a few seconds, Ji-won forgot how bizarre the situation was.

“Wow… so beautiful.”

She followed one of the glowing letters with her gaze until it disappeared above her.

Then she remembered the book.

Looking down, she found the page completely blank.

“Everything here is really strange.”

Her gaze wandered around the room before settling on the floor.

Compared to the slightly smelly bed, the floor suddenly seemed much more comfortable.

Yeah.

I’m definitely not sleeping on that thing.

With the book still in her hand, Ji-won climbed off the bed and lay flat on the floor.

The cool surface against her back was strangely comforting, and for a moment, she simply watched the letters move above her.

One letter suddenly jumped over another.

A second twirled around it before drifting away.

Ji-won’s mouth fell open.

“What the—?”

She slowly raised her hand, reaching for one of the glowing letters.

Her fingertips were only a few inches away when it suddenly moved.

Ji-won stopped.

The letter drifted farther from her hand.

She tilted her head.

“How did it do that?”

She reached for it once more.

The letter moved away again.

“Oh, so you’re avoiding me now?”

Before she could try a third time, the floating letters began gathering together.

They moved in a smooth, organized pattern until they formed a wide circle around her.

Ji-won’s amusement disappeared.

The colourful letters were still beautiful, but there was something unsettling about the way they moved.

They weren’t simply floating anymore.

They were surrounding her.

She threw the book away and scrambled backward.

“I need to get out of here.”

Ji-won hurried toward the door.

Her hand had barely closed around the handle when a powerful wave of energy surged through her body.

“What—?!”

The force sent her flying backward.

“Ah!”

She landed on the floor with a loud thud.

“Ouch!”

Ji-won remained there for a moment, one hand pressed against her back as she tried to figure out what had just happened.

The pain gradually faded, but the confusion remained.

She pushed herself up and stared at the door.

Nothing.

There was no light, no barrier, and no visible explanation for why she couldn’t leave.

“What just happened?”

Her attention shifted to the book.

It was lying where she had thrown it.

But the letters were gone.

Every single one had disappeared the moment the book touched the ground.

Ji-won swallowed.

“This is really strange.”

Before she could take another step, the book’s pages began turning on their own.

Flip.

Flip.

Flip.

The sound filled the room.

Ji-won stood still, watching as page after page moved without anyone touching them.

Is this book alive?

She wasn’t sure she wanted to find out.

Still, curiosity won.

Ji-won walked over and picked it up carefully.

She tried to close the cover, but it refused to move.

She pulled harder.

Nothing.

“Why won’t you just close already?!”

She tried once more before giving up and throwing the book onto the bed.

Breathing heavily, she ran a hand through her hair.

“Today is a really mysterious day for me.”

She pointed accusingly at the book.

“First, I was killed by my boyfriend.”

She paused.

“No. Ex-boyfriend.”

Her expression darkened at the correction.

“And now I’m here in this godforsaken house?”

A new thought suddenly crossed her mind.

Ji-won slowly covered her face.

“Or am I really in heaven?”

She lowered her hands.

Heaven?

No, no, no.

Her gaze returned to the book.

It was still flipping through its pages as if none of her struggles mattered.

“You might be strange,” she muttered, “but after witnessing whatever magic you just performed, maybe you’re my only chance of ever getting out of here.”

She paused before adding,

“And finding out the truth.”

Taking a deep breath, Ji-won stepped toward the bed.

What should I do now?

She stared at the open book.

Maybe there’s something written in it that could help me.

Standing beside the bed, she leaned closer, trying to catch a glimpse of anything useful.

The pages continued turning, refusing to stop long enough for her to read anything.

The faster they moved, the more determined she became.

Hmph.

Wanna stop me?

Dream on!

Ji-won’s gaze followed the pages as they turned one after another.

Then she began catching fragments.

“She’s too poor.”

Another page.

“I like you, Han Yufan.”

Another.

“Let’s date behind her back, she won’t suspect a thing.”

Her expression slowly changed.

These weren’t random sentences.

They sounded like pieces of a conversation…

pieces of someone’s life.

Another page turned.

“Kang Ji-won, I saw Han Yufan with Gu Shin.”

Another.

“How could you do this?”

Ji-won barely had time to process the words before the pages suddenly stopped.

The book had landed on the last page.

Her gaze dropped to it.

For the first time since she had opened the strange book, Ji-won didn’t say a word.

Written on the page was…

And don’t forget to drop your thoughts in the comments section.

Bye bye.
