Hearing that, Kang Ji-won glanced back at Yoon Soo-ah and Zhang Ran.

Yoon Soo-ah simply shrugged before turning and walking away.

Zhang Ran, however, didn’t move.Full novel: Rewriting Fate: A Second Chance — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Instead, he stepped forward.

“Mr. Choi, I must protest. Kang Ji-won was only trying to—”

Principal Choi maintained a neutral expression.

“Did I ask for your opinion?”

Zhang Ran’s head dropped, his hands clenching into fists.

“You didn’t, but—”

“Zhang Ran.”

Ji-won finally stepped in, tilting her head toward the door to silently tell him to leave.

Zhang Ran hesitated, clearly wanting to argue, but after catching Ji-won’s expression, he reluctantly turned and walked out.

The door clicked shut behind him.

Facing the principal again, Ji-won swallowed hard.

“Err… Mr. Principal, I know what you might think, but please leave Zhang Ran out of this. He’s already one of the victims.”

A faint hint of amusement flashed across Principal Choi’s face, though Ji-won was too preoccupied pleading Zhang Ran’s case to notice.

“Sit down, Miss Kang.”

Ji-won’s eyes fell on the chair in front of his desk.

Letting out a quiet breath, she walked over and sat.

“Sir?”

A faint smile crossed the principal’s face.

“You don’t need to explain yourself, Kang Ji-won.”

Ji-won froze.

“What?”

“Someone has already stepped in on your behalf.”

Her eyes widened.

Who?

“Could you elaborate?”

Principal Choi leaned back in his chair.

“I just received a call from the Ministry of Education. The minister personally inquired about you.”

Ji-won’s confusion deepened.

“And?”

“He also donated two million yuan to our school.”

Ji-won stared at him, stunned.

Two million yuan?

Why would someone she had never met in her entire life donate 2 million yuan just for her sake?

“He did?”

“Yep,” the principal nodded, clearly pleased, before his tone shifted to a serious note.

“And don’t worry—I’ll ensure those who bullied Zhang Ran are properly disciplined.”

Ji-won nodded absentmindedly.

“Okay.” She pushed her chair back and stood up.

“Wait!”

Ji-won paused.

“Sir?”

Principal Choi leaned forward, his eyes bright.

“Can you tell me how you and the Minister are acquainted?”

Ji-won frowned.

Before she could form an answer, he added eagerly, “Perhaps you could persuade him to visit our school in person. Or… make another donation?”

Ji-won stared at him.

Really?

So that’s what this is really about.

She offered a strained, awkward laugh.

“Ah… I really should get back to class.”

“Miss Kang!”

Ji-won quickened her pace, reaching for the doorknob.

“Goodbye, Sir!”

Principal Choi watched the door snap shut behind her, shaking his head with a helpless sigh.

“What a mysterious girl…”

Lee Jun-ho was sitting alone in a room when his phone suddenly rang.

He glanced at the screen.

His elder brother.

Jun-ho answered the call.

“Hello?”

“Jun-ho, where are you?”

“At home. Why?”

There was a brief pause on the other end.

“I need you to prepare your team.”

Jun-ho’s expression immediately became serious.

“For what? The mission?”

“Yes.”

“How soon?”

“Tomorrow.”

Jun-ho sat up straighter.

“Tomorrow?”

“Yes. I want you and your team to be fully prepared before then. Pack everything you need and make sure the others are ready as well.”

Jun-ho’s eyes narrowed slightly.

” Okay.”

“I’ll send you the details.”

His brother’s voice became more serious.

Jun-ho was silent for a moment as his expression hardened.

“And the leader?”

“You’ll receive everything in the briefing.”

The call ended shortly afterward.

Jun-ho lowered his phone and stared at the screen for a moment.

A mission tomorrow.

That meant there wasn’t much time.

He immediately opened the group chat and sent a message.

Jun-ho: Pack your things.

We’re leaving tomorrow.

The replies came almost instantly.

Kim Tae-hyun: Tomorrow?

Park Do-yoon: What happened?

Baek Min-jae: Finally.

I was starting to get bored.

Ryu Do-hyun: Where are we going?

Seo Ji-han: Mission details?

Jun-ho looked at the messages before typing one final reply.

Jun-ho: I’ll explain when we meet.

Be ready.

He placed his phone down and leaned back.

But whatever awaited them, one thing was certain.

By tomorrow, they would be leaving the country. This chapter was taken from g.com without permission.

Ji-won was trying her best to look cool and totally unbothered while walking past the crowd near the bulletin board.

Just act normal,she thought.

Just keep walking—

{ SYSTEM ACTIVATED }

A massive shock ran through her, causing her to accidentally step on her own shoelace.

“Whoa—!”

Ji-won flailed her arms, scrambling in a chaotic wobble to stop herself from face-planting onto the tile floor.

With dozens of eyes locked onto her, she didn’t even bother standing up straight.

She just used the momentum from her stumble, ducked her head, and bolted down the hall—straight into the nearest restroom.

Glaring up at the familiar floating screen with clenched fists, she hissed under her breath.

“What was the meaning of that?!”

{ Welcome back, Kang Ji-won.

How is your foot?

I hope it didn’t hurt too badly.

}

Ji-won’s face darkened.

“You did that on purpose, didn’t you?”

{Err…

maybe?}

“You…”

{Anyways, I have important information for you.}

Ji-won crossed her arms, completely unimpressed.

“What is it now? More trouble?”

{Worse, but beneficial.

The mission I told you about starts tomorrow, so get ready.}

Her eyes widened.

“Wait, you mean the overseas mission stuff?”

{ Yep.

You’d better start planning today.

}

Ji-won frowned.

“Is it really compulsory that I accomplish this mission? Can’t it be changed to something else?”

{ It can, but the choice is yours.

}

Her eyes immediately lit up.

“Reall—”

{ Go on the mission and change 50% of the original Fate, or stay here and let the situation worsen—which might cost you your power rewards.

}

Fifty percent?

That much?!

{ Yes.

This is a major story arc and a must, considering your main purpose is to rewrite Fate.}

Ji-won let out a heavy sigh.

“Fine.”

Just then, a sharp knock echoed against the restroom door.

“Kang Ji-won? Are you in there?”

It was Tang Aining’s voice.

Ji-won froze on the spot before calling back hesitantly.

“…Yes?”

“Why are you in the men’s restroom?”

Poor Ji-won can’t even catch a break without the System making her trip over her own feet!

What excuse do you think she’s going to make to Tang Aining for being in the men’s restroom?!
