Princess Mira Quinveil Firebrand here. Still alive, still opinionated, and still being unfairly supervised by people who claim “basic self-preservation” is something I should try more often.
Before we begin Rise of Starveil, I have once again been informed that some of you may be arriving here first, which is bold. Incorrect, but bold.
This is Book Four of The Starveil Saga, which means this is not the beginning. A few things have already happened, and by “a few,” I mean enough that if you start here and immediately wonder why everyone is intense, exhausted, dramatic, armed, emotionally compromised, or making deeply questionable decisions with great confidence, the answer is previous books. And trauma. Mostly previous books.
For everyone’s sanity, here is the official reading order:
Book One: The Firefly’s Burden
Book Two: Cinderborn
Book Three: Daughters of Starveil
Book Four: Rise of Starveil
If you have read the first three books already, welcome back. I would say I am surprised you returned, but honestly, by this point, I assume you know exactly what kind of emotional disaster you are walking into and have chosen it voluntarily. That is between you and whatever coping mechanism brought you here.
If you have not read the previous books yet, this is your gentle warning that while you are absolutely welcome, this story did, in fact, begin before now. There are relationships, grudges, secrets, wounds, loyalties, and bad decisions already in progress. There are also people who will be much easier to understand if you have watched them become this unwell in the proper order.
So if you find yourself asking, “Wait, why is everyone like this?” please know the answer is not simple, but it is documented in the previous books. Repeatedly.
Whether you arrived properly prepared like a responsible reader or stumbled into Book Four powered entirely by curiosity, chaos, and the dangerous confidence of someone who thinks context is optional, welcome to Rise of Starveil.
Try to keep up, and if you insist on doing something stupid, at least make it interesting.
