I read those words in a novel once about a regressor who struggled endlessly to save her world.
I read those back when the world was still green.
Back when oceans were blue instead of Radioactive Sludge.
Before the Sky shattered and the world is swarmed by endless abyss of Eldritch Horrors.
We didn’t even need Eldritch Horrors to end the world.
Humanity was doing a good job destroying ourselves.
Memories Flashed behind my eyes like a corrupted broadcast.
Politicians bickering.
The Great War of 2050
The Global bombing of 2060.
The Nuclear fire of 2070.
We poisoned our air and melted our flesh with weapons of mass destruction slaughtering ninety nine percent of humanity over petty ideals and greed.
But human Cruelty was nothing compared to the dark
After the world was destroyed in world war three, the sky shattered like glass.
Eldritch abominations came from the cracks and hunted the surviving humans.
But they didn’t want to kill us.
They impaled survivors on corrupted trees of bone while their organs are exposed.
Death would have been a mercy but these horrors made the surviving humans can’t die.
They are trapped in an endless loop of agony poised to suffer every pain imaginable.
Their screams never stop.
Now I’m the last one left in the dead earth.
"It’s my fault"
I whispered as the Abyss horde swarms me.
"If I just understood this power... I could have closed the cracks and stopped the nukes"
I tightened my grip on my sword.
"I could have saved Sarah and my mother with these powers but i have to move forward because i promised them i would"
I continued.
"Fuck you ugly bastards!!! I’ll take you all on my own!"
I screamed into the abyss rushing them with my glowing aura of paradoxical Darkness and Light.
Location: Celestial Realm , Year 872 after the Third Omni War
"Hold the line!"
I Annabella screamed as I fell to my knees raising a barrier of Causality against a shadow that was once a Seraphim.
Far above the mortal realms, Heaven was burning.
The celestials are dying from the same Abyss.
We were supposed to be the Anchors of reality and time.
Look at us now.
We are suffering as the mortals below.
Then a tentacle slammed against my barrier.
"I’m weak"
I coughed up blood.
CRACK!
The barrier cracked as i look around my Ruined Realm.
If the Timeline is dead then I’ll break the clock even if i have to do it alone again.
I closed my eyes as the horrors screamed around me as i reach deep into the architecture of the multiverse to force a regression.
I can’t save my Realm, its already in written in blood.
Finding an anchor or a guardian can change this cursed fate.
There has to be someone out there who can bring us to salvation from these Eldritch Horrors.
But i was only a survivor.
"Let the light shine in the Abyss."
I prayed with the power of causality as my barrier shattered and abyss horrors flooded to consume me.
