Earth Year 2840. The Mystic Island, Base of the Titan Tree.
Point of View: N032
"Form a defensive ring around the Crown Princess immediately!"
High Paladin Vance roared, raising his rune carved shield.
"Protect the Crown Princess at all costs!"
another guard that arrived from the other pods shouted as the treeline violently shattered.
The Abyssal horde poured into the clearing like a tidal wave of rotting flesh, jagged bone and necrotic violet sludge.
Leading the pack were multi limbed abominations wielding twisted versions of galactic federation plasma weaponry, flanked by sleek obsidian plated Stalkers.
"Hold the line and unleash the Light!"
Vance commanded.
The five Celestials unleashed their power sending arcs of pure concentrated golden mana slicing through the humid air in a beautiful display of magic that could level a fortress.
But then the Abyss tanked their Attacks.
"It... it just ate the Light,"
A guard whispered in absolute terror as the Abyss consumed their holy magic turning it into harmless, grayish smoke.
"No!"
Angelica screamed as an Abyssal Stalker blurred forward bypassing their useless shields and impaling the guards through the chest with a scythe like claw.
Then Angelica lunged forward with her silver rapier to strike the beast but I threw my left arm back and caught her by the chest plate.
I violently shoved her behind me.
"Unhand me, you brute, how dare you touch me, the Crown-"
Angelica shouted in royal indignation before her words caught in her throat.
The Abyssal Stalker’s scythe claw sliced through the space she had just been standing in forcing the Princess to realize this heavy handed giant had just saved her life.
"Stay back if you want to live!"
I roared.
Now that the story was broken, the original protagonist wasn’t here and the Celestials’ magic was completely useless without Anna’s divine tier causality manipulation.
So I dug deep into the core of my soul grabbing hold of the two opposing forces I had carried across lifetimes.
Then the twilight aura exploded from my armor as spiraling blinding holy Light with the suffocating miasma of the Abyss itself roared.
I vaulted forward as a literal storm of light and darkness bringing my heavy sword down on the closest brute and shattering its Abyssal plating like glass.
The dark miasma wrapping my heavy sword violently absorbed their necrotic energy feeding it directly into the Light and vaporizing the Abyssal horde into nothingness.
In less than sixty seconds, the clearing was dead silent as the front line of the horde reduced to a smoldering field of gray dust.
I stood in the center of the carnage as my chest heaving with the twilight aura bleeding furiously from my armor.
"Princess, lower your weapon right now,"
I ordered, taking a slow step toward the trembling Celestials.
"Stay back, do not take another step toward her!"
Vance barked, drawing a weapon and stepping protectively in front of Angelica.
Crown Princess Angelica had her silver rapier raised, her hands shaking violently as the blade pointed at my chest.
"What are you?!"
Angelica whispered, her pristine eyes wide with unadulterated fear.
"You wear the shell of a person but you bleed the Rot!"
Angelica accused, her voice cracking with terror.
"You use the very darkness that consumed our ship which means you are just an Abyssal monster wearing armor to deceive us, you are the same monster who took my Sister away from me!"
she cried out.
"If I were one of them, you would already be dead,"
I reasoned coldly, trying to suppress the twilight aura back into my armor.
"We will not be deceived by a shapeshifting horror!"
Vance yelled.
"The Abyss adapts to pure Light, so to kill it, you must poison the Light with its own shadow,"
I explained flatly.
"Lower your swords."
Before I could speak again, the ambient mana in the air simply ceased to exist.
CRACK!
Suddenly the sky shattered like glass as the paraphysical and ontological pressure rising.
"I can’t breathe,"
Vance choked out as the air pressure dropped so violently that the Celestials instantly collapsed to their knees.
The leaves on the massive Titan Tree withered into gray ash as a suffocating shadow fell over the entire clearing.
Then, I looked up and my heart seized in my chest.
High above the atmosphere, the fabric of reality itself cracked like a fragile pane of glass struck by a heavy hammer.
"What in the Heavens is that...?"
Angelica gasped, blood dripping from her nose.
Through the massive fractures in the sky, countless colossal Eyes appeared swarmed by the grotesque masses of Outer Gods trying to squeeze into our dimension.
They filled the sky with a cold indifferent cosmic light looking down into our clearing.
I saw the bleeding wrathful pupils of the Scarlet Emperor Khoraks and the swirling maddening void of Azathoth.
I saw the burning gaze of the King in Yellow and the chaotic ever shifting eyes of the Crawling Chaos and the Weaver.
Surrounding them were the multi pupiled, grotesque stares of Shub Niggurath and Yog Sothoth, the abyssal depths of Cthulhu, the calculating glares of the Conceptual Heralds, the sorrowful stare of the Ruined King, and finally the dark, thorn wreathed gaze of absolute end, the Queen of Black Thorns.
The oppressive Pataphysical weight of their combined gaze was a literal physical force.
With the sickening sound of shattering glass, Angelica’s pristine golden aura shattered into dust under their cosmic gravity.
"No, it hurts, please make it stop!"
Angelica cried out, dropping her silver rapier into the dirt.
The proud Crown Princess was forced onto her hands and knees desperately crawling through the mud to cling to my heavy armored leg.
She wept in absolute helpless terror realizing my Twilight Aura was the only thing keeping me standing under the gravity of countless outergods.
"No, no, no,"
I panicked internally, my armored hands beginning to shake.
These were the Observers, the unseen readers who watched the advent of the infinite stacked multiverses and the avatars of the Supreme Authors who dictated the script.
"The Trial of the Eyes doesn’t happen until the mid game!"
I screamed internally as my mind desperately tried to process the completely shattered narrative.
