“Go ahead. Take a seat.”
Tesia looked at me for a moment.
She then walked toward the chair I had prepared for her and sat down with an almost suspiciously calm expression.
Her long blonde hair fell over her shoulders as she crossed her legs, her red eyes staring directly at me.
Then she shifted slightly in the chair.
Her chest bounced.
I blinked.
“...”
Tesia raised an eyebrow.
“What?”
“Nothing.”
“You were staring.”
“I was not.”
“You absolutely were.”
I cleared my throat and looked at my notes.
“I think I may have imagined you a little too...”
Tesia tilted her head.
“Too what?”
“...bouncy.”
There was a brief silence.
Tesia looked down at herself.
Then back at me.
“Is that a compliment?”
“...I don't know anymore.”
“It sounded like one.”
“Let's just start the interview.”
“Coward.”
///
Anyway.
Welcome to a very special chapter of Saved by the Vampire.
Since some of you have been kind enough to leave comments on the story, I thought it would be fun to bring our resident vampire here and let her answer some of your questions.
Tesia looked at me.
“You said 'some of you.'”
“Yes.”
“So people are actually reading?”
“Yes.”
Her eyes immediately lit up.
“Really?”
“Really.”
“How many?”
“That's not important.”
“It is to me.”
“Anyway, there is one very important rule for this interview.”
“What's that?”
I pointed at her.
“No spoilers.”
Tesia stared at me.
“Not even a little?”
“Not even a little.”
“What if I accidentally spoil something?”
“Then I'll edit it out.”
“You're no fun.”
“I'm protecting the story.”
Tesia sighed and leaned back in her chair.
“Fine.”
She smiled.
“Ask me anything.”
I looked down at my notes.
“Let's start with our very first commenter.”
Tesia leaned forward.
“Our first?”
“Yes. SeyanHxH.”
I showed her the comment.
It contained nothing but a few surprised and embarrassed emojis.
Tesia stared at the screen.
Then she looked at me.
“That's it?”
“That's it.”
She looked back at the comment.
Her expression slowly changed.
“I like them.”
“Nice emojis huh?.”
“Hehe.”
Tesia smiled at the screen.
“Thank you, SeyanHxH.”
She gave the screen a tiny wave.
“I'll do my best.”
I couldn't help but smile.
“See? She's already taking this seriously.”
“Of course I am.”
“I'm proud of you.”
“Heh, they're very expressive emojis.”
I shook my head and moved on.
“Next one is from Angelie68.”
Tesia leaned closer to the screen.
I read the comment aloud.
“Ils d'oe le inviter ah entré les vampires ne peuvent pas rentre cher les gent ça fait partie des restrictions.”
Tesia stared at me.
“...”
“...”
“You speak French?”
“No.”
“Then why did you read it like that?”
“I didn't.”
“You definitely did.”
“I'll translate it for you.”
“Oh oki.”
I looked at my notes.
“They're basically saying that vampires have to be invited inside because they can't enter people's homes otherwise. It's one of the restrictions.”
Tesia nodded thoughtfully.
“They're right.”
“I know.”
“Then why are we discussing it?”
“Because they noticed.”
Tesia smiled.
“Good observation, Angelie68.”
I nodded.
“Apparently, our vampire lore has passed inspection.”
Tesia looked at me.
“Barely.”
“What do you mean, barely?”
“You wrote it.”
"..."
I decided not to argue.
“Next question.”
I looked at the screen again.
“‘Genderbend tag??’”
Tesia immediately looked confused.
“What does that mean?”
“It's a tag.”
“I know that. What does it mean?”
“You'll understand eventually.”
Tesia narrowed her eyes.
“Eventually?”
“Yes. I mean, you already know but... no spoilers.”
“You know something I don't.”
“I'm the author and you're doing an amazing job acting clueless.”
“I don't like that answer.”
“Velapenth asked this question.”
Tesia crossed her arms.
“Then tell them I said they'll have to keep reading.”
“That’s suspiciously vague.”
“Good.”
I sighed.
“Fine. Let's move on.”
Then I noticed the next comment.
“Oh, and here's SeyanHxH again.”
Tesia immediately smiled.
“Let's see...”
“Yep.”
Tesia leaned toward the screen.
“I like this person.”
“Don't get attached.”
“Why?”
“Because now they're going to expect you to answer every comment.”
Tesia went silent.
She slowly looked at me.
“Then I will.”
“That's not how this works.”
“It is now.”
I sighed.
“Anyway, here's what they said.”
I read the comment aloud.
“‘Two teens who can't move on huh? Well, neither did I. Anyways, thanks for the chapter.’”
Tesia blinked.
“...”
“You okay?”
“Hmmm, yes.”
“You stopped smiling.”
“No, I didn't.”
“You absolutely did.”
Tesia crossed her arms.
“Next question.”
I raised an eyebrow.
“That sounded suspiciously defensive.”
“Next. Question.”
“Okay, okay.”
I looked at my notes again.
“So far, you've thanked the first reader, confirmed your vampire restrictions, refused to explain the genderbend tag, and avoided one question about Jean and Jess.”
Tesia stared at me.
“That's a very biased summary.”
“It's an accurate summary.”
“No.”
“Yes.”
“No.”
I smiled.
“Are you enjoying this?”
Tesia paused.
Then, reluctantly, smiled.
“A little.”
“A little?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
“Because people are actually asking questions about us.”
I looked at her for a moment.
“Us?”
Tesia realized what she had said.
“I mean... the story.”
“Uh-huh.”
“The story.”
“Sure.”
“Stop looking at me like that.”
“I didn't say anything.”
“You were about to.”
“I was.”
Tesia sighed.
“Idiot.”
I laughed.
“Okay. I think that's all for today.”
Tesia looked slightly disappointed.
“Already?”
“We've been here for a while.”
“But there were more comments.”
“We'll save them for another time.”
Tesia sighed and looked down at the desk.
Then she turned toward the screen.
“Thank you.”
I looked at her.
“For what?”
“For reading.”
Her expression softened.
“I know our story isn't full of giant battles or explosions every five minutes.”
She paused.
“It's just... our life.”
I remained silent.
“Jean's life. My life. The stupid things we do. The things we don't understand yet.”
She looked away for a moment.
Then back toward the screen.
“So... if you've been enjoying it, please stay with us.”
Her smile became a little softer.
“We'll try to make it worth your time.”
I smiled.
“That's surprisingly sweet.”
Tesia immediately frowned.
“Don't ruin it.”
“Sorry.”
“Good.”
I gathered my notes.
“Any final words?”
Tesia thought for a moment.
Then smiled.
“See you in the next chapter.”
“That's it?”
“What else should I say?”
“I don't know. Something cool.”
Tesia stood up.
“Okay.”
She looked directly at the screen.
“Bye.”
I stared at her.
“...”
“What?”
“You're terrible at goodbyes.”
“Shut up.”
And with that, our first interview with the vampire came to an end.
