“Sister-in-law? What’s wrong?”

Chi Ye had just stepped out and saw Wen Chi looking back with a face full of fright.

He glanced behind her, but there was no one there.Full novel: Secretly a Half-Zombie in the Apocalypse, the Mad Villain Fell for Me — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Why was Sister-in-law scared?

Wen Chi, seeing Chi Ye, immediately adjusted her expression and quickly changed the topic.

“Cough, cough… it’s nothing. Where are Jiang Yi and the others?”

“They’re running downstairs.”

“Running? Why are they running?”

“Because we need daily training. Jiang Yi and Dou Dou are following us so they won’t slow us down.”

“After all, in the apocalypse, there will be times when one has to stand alone.”

Wen Chi nodded and immediately headed downstairs. Near the stairway, she seemed to realize something and turned around.

“Don’t call me Sister-in-law! How many times do I have to say it!”

“Call me by my name or A-Chi, either is fine.”

Chi Ye scratched the back of his head and obediently agreed, letting Wen Chi leave in peace.

Then Chi Ye turned around and saw their Leader standing there, looking darkly displeased.

“Leader? What’s wrong?”

“Why are you still here? Aren’t you supposed to train?”

Because Wen Chi had just run off, Jiang Jiming’s mood naturally soured. His expression darkened, his voice calm but cold.

Chi Ye, knowing their Leader well, immediately realized who Wen Chi had been avoiding.

“I-I’ll go train right now!”

Chi Ye ran faster than a rabbit, sprinting downstairs.

A-Lou grabbed him, confused, asking what was going on.

“Emergency help!”

Chi Ye said this and wriggled free from A-Lou’s grip, running toward Wen Chi, who was talking with Jiang Yi.

A-Lou didn’t understand at first, thinking Chi Ye had gone mad. But when he turned and saw the dark-faced Leader, he immediately realized the situation and quickly ran to Wen Chi’s side.

Jiang Jiming watched the group huddled together and the little girl in the middle avoiding his gaze.

Their guilty expressions were obvious.

Wen Chi silently thanked the few people hiding behind her—she had almost forgotten that small incident.

Now, though… the first meeting incident had resurfaced.

【Host! What are you afraid of? Brave girl! Fear nothing! Attack the villain!】

【We women should ride on top of men, tear their clothes, and ravish them as we please! Not cower in fear!】

【Host, use your Sanda attacks on him!】

Wen Chi rolled her eyes. Her system really did act crazy sometimes, spouting such suggestive lines every so often.

She wasn’t particularly thirsty for anything… well, okay (╯▽╰), she did enjoy looking at handsome men.

Jiang Jiming noticed the girl’s ears gradually turning red, spreading to her cheeks.

The frustration in his heart immediately dissipated, leaving only overwhelming love and desire for the little girl.

Wenwen is shy? (? ???ω??? ?)Is Wenwen also feeling something for me? (^▽^)

He couldn’t push Wenwen too hard; after all, “time is on his side.”

He could wait.

【Host! Affection points rose to 89%! ??ヽ(°▽°)ノ?】

Wen Chi: “?????”

【I already rejected him! Why is the affection rising?】

【Don’t know, Host, but you’re amazing (??????)??! Completing the mission is within reach!?(^_-)】

【Jiang Jiming doesn’t have a secret SM kink, does he?!】

“Chi Ye.”

Hearing that Jiang Jiming didn’t call her name, Wen Chi relaxed and stopped her wandering thoughts.

“Yes! Leader!”

Chi Ye shouted immediately and stepped forward.

“What did you train today?”

“Today we did 30 kg weighted walks, 10 kg weighted squats, ten sets of 5-meter wall climbs, 20 km sprints, and actual Ability combat.”

When Chi Ye finished, Wen Chi’s jaw dropped.

Being a villain is tough—she hadn’t realized it was this tough.

Could a normal person even survive this?

Her lazy self definitely wouldn’t put in this much effort.

Jiang Yi and Dou Dou also frowned, realizing their own training earlier was like child’s play compared to this.

“Why is it like military training?”

Wen Chi muttered quietly, but someone was observing her and naturally heard her words.

“Wenwen, what did you say?”

Jiang Jiming stepped closer, closing the distance. Wen Chi could feel the sharp, cedar-like scent emanating from him.

It smelled… unexpectedly nice.

“Uh, nothing. You guys continue~”

Guiltily, Wen Chi tried to pull Jiang Yi and Dou Dou away, not wanting to interfere with their organized training.

“Aren’t you training? Don’t you want to get stronger?”

“How can you get stronger without effort? Without companions, you’ll still become someone else’s victim.”

Jiang Jiming didn’t stop them, his tone calm and indifferent—a stark contrast to the previous Jiang Jiming, brimming with desire and ambiguity.

Jiang Yi hesitated for a moment, then stopped.

Wen Chi looked into her eyes and saw a kind of ambition and desire she had never seen before.

The ambition to grow stronger, the desire to protect.

Wen Chi understood and released her hand, smiling at Jiang Yi and Dou Dou.

“Little Chi, I want to get stronger. I want to protect you and Dou Dou.”

“I won’t let anyone bully me again, relying on others.”

Jiang Yi looked seriously at Wen Chi. Grandfather was gone; Wen Chi and Dou Dou were the most important people in her life. She didn’t want to lose them.

She only had them now.

“Sis, I want to protect you, too.”

“Dou Dou can get stronger too.”

Dou Dou, only eight years old, wasn’t even half Jiang Yi’s height, yet he seriously held their hands as he spoke.

He looked small but clever.

“Alright, if none of you want to be lazy, I’ll train with you.”

“And I don’t need to protect you so much. I’m half-human, half-Zombie. I should be protecting you.”

Wen Chi realized she could no longer be lazy. No, she hadn’t been lazy since the system appeared.

She had seen her doomed fate and wanted to leave a little warmth for others.

“If you want to get stronger, train with us.”

Jiang Jiming spoke at the right moment, his tone no longer lazy or indifferent.

He couldn’t always protect Wenwen; he needed her to gain strength to feel at ease.

Jiang Yi and Dou Dou were the best tools for that. Wenwen cared about them far more than herself.

He wasn’t a saintly person,

He didn’t have time to preach to unrelated people about self-improvement,

He only wanted his flowers to bloom the most beautifully.

Flowers in a greenhouse aren’t the most beautiful. He wanted his flowers to bloom in the world.

“Thank you, Uncle Xi.”

Jiang Yi held one hand of Wen Chi and one of Dou Dou, standing in front of Jiang Jiming.
