I closed my eyes slowly beneath the thin blanket, murmuring a prayer, hoping that tonight I wouldn’t dream of Javier again.

I wanted to erase every image of that man from my head, even though it felt unbearably heavy and tormenting.

I simply didn’t want to keep drowning in this unhealthy, one-sided feeling any longer.

But unfortunately, everything I’d hoped for evaporated into nothing.

Because deep in sleep, I dreamed of Javier again.

In that dream, he walked into my room, then let his sturdy body fall onto mine.

“Camila…”

”Camila…”

The baritone voice calling my name felt impossibly close.

Still with my eyes shut, I flinched.

Something was strange.

I could feel a warm breath, thick with the scent of alcohol, brushing over my face.

This felt far too real to be a dream.

I opened my eyes slowly, and my heart seemed to stop beating the moment I saw Javier truly there, hovering above me, deeply drunk.

“Javier…?” I squeaked softly, hardly believing what I was seeing.

No verbal answer came.

Javier only stared at me intently with a pair of hazy, reddened eyes.

That closeness left me frozen in place.

The next second, he leaned his face down and pressed a brief kiss to my lips.

“Camila… your lips are so sweet. I love this,” Javier whispered, his voice hoarse and full of reverence.

I blinked over and over, trying to gather my scattered senses.

This wasn’t right.

Javier was drunk and not in his right mind.

What if he woke up tomorrow morning?

And what if everyone in this house found out what he’d done to me tonight?

That fear made me shove hastily at his chest.

“Javi, go… don’t do this,” I said, half pleading, still trying to push him away.

Javier shook his head slowly, and a small smile curved onto his lips.

If only he would do something this bold while sober, I might have loved it.

I might have welcomed his touch with open arms.

But he was drunk right now.

It was entirely possible that tonight he was hallucinating, mistaking the woman trapped beneath him for Adriana, not me.

Before I could think any further, Javier lowered his face toward mine again.

This time, it was no longer just a brief, ordinary kiss.

He began claiming my lips with a deep, deliberate rhythm.

I knew I should refuse.

I knew I should fight back and slap his face.

But why did my body act so selfishly, savoring this touch instead?

Why did I part my lips, letting Javier kiss me so passionately, as though I didn’t want to let this golden chance slip away?

Lips I had only ever been able to feel in dreams were, tonight, truly fused with mine.

Tasting and claiming them with a maddening blend of tenderness and demand.

“Camila… I like you. I like your body…” Javier murmured deliriously between our heated kisses.

I blinked slowly, processing the words that had just slipped from his lips.

Just now…

Javier said he liked me, didn’t he?

He just said he liked my body?

My chest thundered with disbelief.

I wanted to ask him again to be sure, but unfortunately, the man had already fallen unconscious, passed out against the curve of my neck.

I fell silent in the quiet of the room.

I let his large, heavy body remain collapsed on top of mine.

Slowly, I wrapped both my arms around his waist, holding him tightly yet gently.

I made the most of this moment, because I knew all too well that tomorrow, once he woke up, he might never again allow me to hold him like this.

“What did you just say? I didn’t mishear that, did I?” I murmured to myself in the silence of the night, gazing at his disheveled black hair. Read this novel at g.com for the best experience.

The next morning, I woke up earlier than usual as the first light of dawn began creeping through the gap in the curtains.

I deliberately let Javier stay on my bed.

In fact, for the rest of that night, I had slept so comfortably, cradled in the warm embrace of his sturdy arms.

Luckily, Mama and Papa were out of town today.

If not, I couldn’t imagine what storm would have descended on me had they seen the two of us like this.

I gazed intently at Javier’s face, still closed in sleep.

He was so handsome, with a strong jawline and a perfectly bridged nose.

I longed to let my fingers reach out and touch this stunning sculpture crafted by God.

But my hand hesitated midair.

I had to erase this forbidden feeling.

I should have distanced myself since last night, shouldn’t I?

I should have left this room the moment he passed out?

But why?

Why did my body and my heart always betray my own logic whenever it came to Javier?

Just as the tip of my finger was about to touch his full lips—the ones that had kissed me so thoroughly last night—Javier’s eyes suddenly snapped open.

The man stared at me with his sharp, cold gaze so characteristic of him, making me immediately abandon my intention and yank my hand back in a panic.

“Camila, why are you in my room?!” Javier snapped, his voice hoarse from sleep but heavy with displeasure.

“I… I’m in my own room, Javier. You’re the one who came into my room last night,” I answered, my voice trembling as I tried to defend myself against his baseless accusation.

Javier immediately sat up straight on the bed.

He quickly checked the state of his own clothes, which were fortunately still fully intact.

A long, relieved sigh escaped through his lips, as though he had just narrowly escaped a great disaster.

“Next time, lock your door! And if I ever come home drunk, don’t you dare let me in, let alone let me sleep in your room!” he said, his tone curt and utterly cold.

After finishing that sharp sentence, Javier rose from the bed at once and walked away, leaving me behind without so much as turning back.

My chest felt tight, shattering into pieces as I watched his retreating back.

The man had forgotten the entire incident from the night before.

He had no memory whatsoever that, in his own unconsciousness, he had just so selfishly stolen my very first kiss.
