Because I felt completely uncomfortable being in this place, I decided to just leave.

Yes, I chose to go home.

I would be far better off sleeping in my own room at home, spending my vacation reading novels, than continuing to have my heart broken at this villa.Full novel: Secretly Loving My Adoptive Brother — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

That very night, I immediately packed all my belongings into a bag.

However, halfway across the outer lobby as I tried to find my way out, my steps were forced to stop.

There, I saw Javier and Adriana arguing fiercely near the parking area.

My appearance, dragging a suitcase, instantly seized their attention.

“Where are you going?” Javier asked, cutting off their argument and staring at me sharply.

“Home,” I answered, my jaw clenched, trying to sound as natural as possible.

“It’s already late at night. There won’t be any public transportation passing through this area, Camila,” Javier retorted, his tone rising because he disliked my unilateral decision.

“I can find my own way,” I said coldly, then resumed walking, ignoring his warning.

However, after a few steps, my wrist was immediately caught by his hand.

“Javi, where are you going?!” Adriana shouted hysterically upon seeing Javier snatch the suitcase from my hand instead.

“You wait here. I’m going to take Camila home now,” Javier ordered without even glancing at his fiancée.

“This is our vacation, Javier! Why do you want to go home instead? There are still other people who can take her home if she’s really being stubborn about wanting to leave. There’s Pedro and the others too! Don’t be like this, Javier. When else can we have a vacation together, just the two of us?” Adriana shouted, her beautiful face flushing red with fury.

“I can’t just entrust Camila to them,” Javier answered coldly and flatly.

“You wait here.

I have to take her home.”

You don’t care about me at all anymore!”

Hearing the heated argument caused by my presence, I could only let out a heavy sigh.

Because, God knows, I didn’t want him to take me home at all.

I didn’t want to be indebted to him or trapped in the same car with him again tonight.

“Just stay with your girlfriend. I can go home by myself!” I said sharply, trying to yank my hand free from Javier’s grip.

“See, she said she can go home by herself, right? Besides, why does it have to be so late at night? Just go home tomorrow morning, together,” Adriana said, joining in to corner me into canceling my plan.

I fell silent, looking back and forth between the two people in front of me.

Realizing that insisting on leaving would only spread the conflict between them even further, I finally chose to give in.

“Fine, I’ll just go home tomorrow,” I said, then turned around to go back inside the inn.

Leaving Javier and Adriana just like that.

As soon as I reached my room at the inn, I immediately shut the wooden door tightly behind me.

But just as I was about to lie down on the bed, my bedroom door was suddenly shoved open roughly from outside.

I was startled to find Adriana already standing there.

She closed the door behind her with a soft slam, then looked at me with an extremely sharp gaze full of hatred—very different from the friendly, spoiled mask she usually wore in front of everyone else.

“You did it on purpose, didn’t you? You deliberately created that ridiculous drama so Javier would shift all his attention to you and ruin our vacation? You did it on purpose, didn’t you, Camila?!” she accused relentlessly, stepping forward to intimidate me.

“I didn’t do that. I genuinely wanted to go home because I felt uncomfortable here,” I defended myself, trying to keep my voice from trembling.

“Liar! I know everything, Camila. I know you like Javier, don’t you?”

My heart dropped!

Adriana’s words instantly made all the air in my lungs evaporate.

I never imagined that this sexy woman could sniff out the darkest secret I had buried at the bottom of my heart.

I tried to shake my head as naturally as possible, hiding the panic that nearly shattered my defenses.

“What are you talking about?

Don’t make things up.”

”I can see it very clearly in your eyes, Camila!

What if Auntie found out about this disgusting thing?

How would she react if she knew that the orphan girl taken in out of pity dared to fall for her own biological child?” Adriana sneered with a mocking smile that cut deeply.

I clenched both my hands tightly at my sides.

My nails pressed into my palms until it stung, holding back the surge of anger and immense shame at having my origins insulted so cruelly.

Adriana stepped even closer, her face only a few centimeters from mine.

“Don’t you ever try to steal Javier from me, Camila. If you dare do that, I swear I’ll make your life miserable for the rest of your days. You’re nothing but an orphan with nothing in this world. It would be so easy for me to destroy you until nothing is left. Remember that well!”

After unleashing such a cruel threat, Adriana turned and walked away, slamming my door shut hard enough to send a booming echo through the room.

I stood frozen alone in the middle of the room, which suddenly felt so cold.

My body trembled violently.

All this time, I thought I had hidden this forbidden feeling so neatly from everyone.

But how could Adriana know?

How could that woman read the contents of my heart well enough to dare hurl such a cruel threat?

Those questions kept spinning in my head, leaving behind a fresh fear that slowly began to creep in and grip my chest so tightly.
