“Oh no, to be precise, did the two of you have a passionate kiss!”

Qiao Ling, “…”

Yu Wanli stopped in her tracks at the sound, turned sideways, and pinched Qiao Ling’s cheek with her slender fingers. Her gaze fell on Qiao Ling’s crimson lips, examining them left and right. “They’re not too swollen, but your lipstick is gone.”

“Brother Jinyue’s lips are so red, Lingling, don’t try to cover it up.”

Qiao Ling raised an eyebrow. “Comrade Yu Wanli, please view the two of us with a pure perspective.”

Swatting away Yu Wanli’s hand, Qiao Ling strode toward the elevator.

Yu Wanli followed, pressed the elevator button, and laughed. “Darling, you already have adult desires for Brother Jinyue. How do you expect me to view the two of you with a pure perspective?”

The elevator doors opened.

Qiao Ling walked in, leaning lazily against the wall as she glanced at Yu Wanli. Instead of asking how much Yu Wanli had overheard, she said, “You actually believe something I said as a joke?”

“Mhm.” Yu Wanli’s tone rose slightly at the end, her lips curling into a half-smile. “You’re just being stubborn.”

…

Twenty-eighth floor.

The two entered the apartment one after the other, casually tossed their bags aside, and simultaneously collapsed onto the sofa.

“Lingling, have you completely broken away from the Qiao Family this time?” Yu Wanli asked.

“With that bunch of drama queens in the family, how could it ever be complete?” Qiao Ling casually turned on the TV, shifting into a more comfortable position, her tone nonchalant. “It’ll take at least a month or two to sort out the Qiao Family’s financial details. During this time, He Ping will surely stir up a storm.”

“I’ll inevitably have to go back and sit with them.”

These last two words carried a hint of laughter, but Yu Wanli sensed an underlying tone of Qiao Ling preparing to take on the world.

“Does that mean once the Qiao Family matters are settled, you’ll leave Shengjing?”

It was common knowledge in Shengjing that Lingling was a child picked up by Grandpa Qiao, but Yu Wanli was the only one who knew Qiao Ling’s true identity.

“Not necessarily.” Qiao Ling subtly changed the subject. “How’s your graduation thesis coming along?”

“Ah, just thinking about it gives me a headache.” Yu Wanli pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed deeply. “I must have been out of my mind to choose forensic medicine back then.”

“You have less than a month until your defense. You need to hurry.”

As she spoke, Qiao Ling suddenly felt Yu Wanli’s gaze burning like fire.

…

Qiao Ling didn’t give her a chance to speak, tossing out a “I’m going to take a shower” before swiftly making her escape.

Yu Wanli, “…”

Well, there goes the love!

Both sisters attended Huada University. Yu Wanli was a year ahead of Qiao Ling. During their college entrance exams, both had been sensational top scorers in science in Shengjing. However, for each other’s sake, one chose forensic medicine, and the other chose painting.

The two sisters shone brilliantly in their respective fields.

During her junior year, Yu Wanli participated in a research project that helped the police solve a case, followed by publishing two SCI papers.

In her four years of enrollment, Qiao Ling painted a total of six artworks. Two of them were collected by the National Art Gallery, while the remaining four were offered exorbitant prices by many collectors. However, Qiao Ling didn’t sell them; she gave them all to Yu Wanli.

After the rain cleared and the sky brightened.

The sky in Shengjing was as clear as if washed, an endless expanse of blue silk, pure and bright, enveloping all things.

Inside the simple and spacious dance studio, a ray of sunlight filtered through the half-open curtain gap, refracting onto the floor. The room, bathed in a violet-pink glow, was filled with the sultry, lazy beats of music.

A bright white triangle was projected onto the center of the wall, in front of a large floor-to-ceiling mirror.

A girl knelt on the floor with her knees together, her long hair cascading over her shoulders. Her legs were fair, slender, and perfectly proportioned, with a firm, rounded curve to her hips. A black cropped tank top hugged her enviable figure, the thin fabric over her chest damp with sweat.

As the music swelled, the girl slid her knees apart, her slender arms forming a straight line. Her right hand lifted upward as her head tilted back, her jet-black hair sweeping through a graceful arc. Her left palm traced a path from her jaw down the elegant curve of her swan-like neck.

Every movement was both seductively wild and languidly alluring.

Yu Wanli stepped out to grab a bottle of water and, faintly hearing the music, changed direction toward the dance studio.

The door was slightly ajar.

She leaned lazily against the doorframe, twisting the cap off the bottle.

In her line of sight, the girl swayed her hips and twisted her waist to the rhythmic music, her beautifully sculpted shoulders and slender arms vibrating in sync. The transitions between movements flowed as smoothly as drifting clouds, as if sensuality were woven into her very soul.

Yu Wanli’s gaze settled on the girl’s sweat-beaded jaw, following a droplet as it trickled down into the alluring valley of her chest. She raised an eyebrow, her eyes drifting downward—from the girl’s slender, cinched waist to her perky hips and down to her fair, shapely long legs.

Damn!

So mesmerizing! So hot! So beautiful!

Yu Wanli couldn’t help but let out a long, drawn-out whistle, sounding every bit like a rogue.

Every time Lingling danced jazz, her fiery and sensual moves were downright lethal.

Just then.

Hearing the whistle, Qiao Ling stopped and walked over, taking the water Yu Wanli offered and taking a sip.

“Not joining?”

Yu Wanli raised an eyebrow. “I prefer watching you. How about hitting insomnia tonight? I’ve been cooped up at home for days, feeling a bit stifled.”

“Finish your thesis first, then we’ll go out.” Qiao Ling handed the water back, casually tying up her hair and turning off the music.

Yu Wanli rubbed the tip of her nose and sighed with resignation. “Fine, we’ll go after I finish.”

Then, shifting the topic, her expression turned curious. “Hey, by the way, did Chi Nian tell you? Qiao Sijin asked him for your address. Is that girl really that clueless or just pretending? Asking Chi Nian of all people—she might as well file a missing persons report.”

“Chi Nian said her tone was eerie, and she gritted her teeth every time she mentioned you. Seriously, Lingling, what earth-shattering thing did you do the day you left the Qiao Family?”

Qiao Ling, “…”

“Nothing much, just slapped He Ping.”

Yu Wanli, “Whoa, so the little one’s here for revenge.”

As they were talking, the doorbell suddenly rang.

Qiao Ling stretched lazily as she walked over and opened the door. Seeing the furious man and woman standing outside, a flicker of surprise crossed her face.

Speak of the devil.

Qiao Sijin immediately started shouting, “Qiao Ling, you heartless, ungrateful wretch! No wonder I couldn’t find you these past few days—you’ve been hiding out here!”

“Whose man’s place is this? Shameless thing! Not only are you ungrateful, but you’re also playing the homewrecker? You…”

Before she could finish, a glass bottle of mineral water flew from behind Qiao Ling, smashing straight into Qiao Sijin’s face.Qiao You reacted quickly, pulling Qiao Sijin aside. In the next second, the glass bottle crashed to the ground with a shattering sound, water splashing everywhere and glass fragments flying.

“Qiao Ling, are you crazy?! Do you know what would happen if that bottle had hit my sister’s face?” Qiao You shouted angrily.
