The room remained quiet, illuminated by the soft morning light filtering through the nearby window.
The gentle scent of medicinal herbs lingered in the air, creating a calm atmosphere as Algeni slowly adjusted to the strange feeling of waking up after such an intense battle.
Every muscle in his body still ached, reminding him of everything he had endured.
The door slowly creaked open.
The instructor stepped inside.
When she saw that he was awake, she let out a quiet sigh of relief before speaking calmly.
“Oh, you’re finally awake.”
Algeni looked up at her.
Scratching the back of his head awkwardly, he offered a faint smile.
“To be honest…
my memory’s a little fuzzy.
Can you tell me what happened?”
The instructor quietly closed the door behind her before answering.
“You almost died…
but you made it.
You killed the orc.” A small smile crossed her face.
“That’s something you can brag about.”
Algeni blinked in surprise.
“I’m honestly shocked I pulled it off.
My body felt so broken that I thought I had passed out before I even finished the fight.”
The instructor slowly nodded.
Then her expression completely changed.
Her eyes became sharp and serious.
“How did you do that?” she asked, staring directly into his eyes.
Algeni frowned.
“What are you talking about?”
The instructor stepped forward.
Clearly agitated, she raised her voice.
“Don’t play dumb!
I saw you create that mana sword.
Only someone with extraordinary mana control could accomplish something like that.”
Algeni stared at her, completely confused.
“Uhh…
you know…
I honestly have no idea what you’re talking about.”
The instructor’s patience finally snapped.
In one swift movement, she grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and pulled him closer.
“Don’t lie to me.
No one knows anything about you.
All we know is that you showed up yesterday and said you wanted to become an adventurer.”
Although he still hadn’t fully recovered, Algeni gathered what little strength he had left.
With a quick motion, he knocked her arm away and shoved her backward.
She stumbled several steps before regaining her balance.
“Damn it!
What’s wrong with you?” Algeni exclaimed, clearly irritated. Enjoying the story? Read on at g.com.
The instructor continued staring at him.
Her breathing had become uneven.
“Just tell me…
how did you do it?
Did a master teach you?
Your parents?
Or is it simply natural talent?
Just tell me!”
Algeni remained silent for several moments.
Finally, he answered with complete honesty.
“I don’t know…
I don’t even know why you’re acting like this.”
The instructor stood motionless.
“You don’t know?” she repeated quietly.
Silence filled the room.
Then…
She started laughing.
It was a soft laugh that gradually faded away until the room became quiet once again.
Algeni didn’t understand any of it.
Even so, he remained on guard in case she decided to attack him again.
Finally, the instructor took a deep breath and regained her composure.
“I’m sorry…
Maybe I got carried away and jumped to some extreme conclusions.”
“Maybe?” Algeni replied with obvious sarcasm as he straightened his clothes.
A small smile appeared on the instructor’s face.
“Get some rest.
It looks like your injuries have almost healed.
Tomorrow I’ll introduce you to some adventurers who should be able to help you.”
Algeni blinked a couple of times before suddenly remembering something important.
“I completely forgot about the test…
So, did I pass?”
The instructor opened the door.
Before leaving, she glanced back over her shoulder.
“Yes.
After everything that happened, I almost forgot to tell you.
You passed the test.
We’ll talk tomorrow.
Get some rest.”
With those words, she quietly stepped out of the room and gently closed the door behind her.
Silence settled over the room once again.
“Well…
step one is complete.”
At that very moment, several translucent windows materialized before him.
The system announced:
“By eliminating 20 Level 5 Goblins, 15 Level 8 Goblins, and 10 Level 12 Goblins, you have reached Level 21.”
“All of your Stats have increased.”
A pleasant surge of energy flowed throughout his entire body.
His sore muscles immediately began to feel much lighter.
Algeni smiled.
“I feel stronger…
and I’ve got a lot more energy.”
Before he could gather his thoughts, the system spoke again.
“By defeating a Level 20 Orc, you have reached Level 24.”
“You have unlocked three new skills.”
New Skills
Light Slash Launches mana-infused slashes that increase damage.
Light Fortress Creates a layer of mana that increases your defense.
Mana Sword Materializes a sword made entirely of mana wherever you focus your energy.
Algeni studied the newly acquired skills with obvious excitement.
A satisfied smile spread across his face.
“Anything new is welcome…
as long as it helps keep me alive.”
For several more minutes, he carefully reviewed each of the system windows.
After reading everything at his own pace, he dismissed them one by one.
He slowly stretched out across the bed.
“I think it’s finally time to get some sleep.”
A tired smile appeared on his face.
“Tomorrow begins another adventure.”
He settled comfortably beneath the blankets and folded his hands behind his head.
For several quiet moments, he stared up at the wooden ceiling.
“I must be going crazy…
After everything that’s happened with the people in this place, I’m still thinking about staying.”
A quiet chuckle escaped him.
“But I don’t really have another choice.”
“I have to find those idiots…
no matter what.”
The room fell completely silent once again.
Moonlight filtered gently through the window as a cool breeze caused the curtains to sway softly.
Algeni continued staring at the ceiling for a few more moments.
Little by little, exhaustion finally overcame his thoughts.
His eyelids slowly closed.
And for the first time since arriving in that unfamiliar world…
He was finally able to rest in a real bed.
