I Saw Her
~Aries~
I stood in front of my window, watching the mortals arrive.
Waiting for my first glimpse of this year’s prey.
Euphoria was her name.
It was beautiful.
From a small town in the middle of nowhere, both parents deceased.
The first people off the ship were pretty average.
No one that interesting this year.
And then there she was.
Her long brown hair carried softly in the wind.
Even from high up here, I could see her big blue eyes.
She gazed around adorably, her face expressing pure girlish wonder.
I assumed she was taking in the school.
Mortal architecture didn’t look much like ours.
She was curious too.
Not just awestruck.
She was absorbing her surroundings.
She was dressed like a simple country girl.
And I just couldn’t take my eyes off her.
Suddenly, it looked like a fight was about to break out.
Euphoria seemed to shrink as some bratty-looking blonde bitch talked shit.
I clenched my fist.
I don’t know why, but I suddenly felt annoyed.
I felt this urge to storm down there and rip that bitch’s head from her shoulders.
Miyra stepped in, breaking up the almost-fight, it seemed.
Good on her.
I’d have to have a word with her about protecting my pet this year.
They started to move away from my line of sight.
I stripped from my clothes and let my fox take over.
My bones shifted.
My muscles expanded, changing their shape as my body transformed.
My fox form was different from the others in my sect.
I was a rare white nine-tailed fox.
I want to keep watching her.
Kyo, my fox, purred.
He’s been pacing with excitement to meet her.
I took off, darting toward the path they would take on the tour.
I followed them around, almost as if I was taking the tour with them.
After Miyra finished, she came and found me right away.
I transformed back into my human skin.
“You were watching us.
Why, my prince?” she asked bluntly.
Always blunt and straight to the point.
“You have a mortal girl in your group who has piqued my interest.
I wanted to observe her.”
“Oh, really?
My prince has already picked this year’s prey, and it’s a mortal no less.
How unusual for you.”
“True, but she doesn’t look mortal.
Does she smell mortal?”
“She doesn’t smell at all, actually.
Now that I think about it.”
“She has no scent?”
Interesting.
This girl was just full of surprises.
“What did you notice about her?”
“She’s quiet.
The shy type.
She made an enemy of the mortal named Clarice and two friends with…” Miyra paused.
“That one is a real piece of work.”
“I’ll break her out of her shell.”
I would open her eyes to a world of pleasure she’d never known.
I wonder how it will feel to have her beneath us as we bury your dick deep inside her.
You’re a pervert.
But I couldn’t agree more.
“I can get you her schedule tomorrow,” she offered.
“I’ll take it.
You’re dismissed.”
“Thank you.
She bowed to me and backed away before turning her back to me.
You never turned your back to royalty.
On my way back, I sensed that bastard land his feet on the ground.
Artemis.
That cocky bastard.
What was he doing here so early?
He never showed up early.
As he approached, my fox, Kyo, stirred beneath my skin.
Dragons and their overbearing presence.
Egotistical fucks.
“Aries.”
I could sense his hostility as he spoke, and I didn’t even need my ability to read it.
“Artemis.”
We stood in front of each other.
The animosity between us was thick enough to choke on.
“You’re on campus early.”
“As are you,” he answered.
We stood in an awkward silence between us.
“Is Amos here?” I asked.
“He was following the transport ship.
I assume he is on the grounds.
If not, he’s in the shallows of the bay.”
“I see.”
“Have you seen the new flock?” he asked.
“I just got done checking them out.”
“Mmm.”
What was he fishing for?
“Anyone of interest?”
“No.”
I lied.
I didn’t want him noticing my curiosity over the mortal girl.
Mocking me or using it against me.
Petty-ass dragons.
He eyed me skeptically, like he didn’t believe me.
“Whatever you say.”
He shrugged and walked off, turning his back to me.
