Pet?
~Euphoria~
Pet?
Did he really just call me a pet?
“That’s a little rude, don’t you think?” I defended myself.
“I wouldn’t classify myself as anyone’s pet.”
“I hate to break it to you.
Or maybe I don’t.”
His lips curled into a smug smile.
“But you don’t get to choose.
I’m the prince of the Fox Clan.
This is my school, and I get what I want.”
His eyes locked onto mine.
“You are what I want.”
A dominant aura rippled off him.
It was so powerful that my knees nearly buckled beneath me.
“No.”
My voice was quiet.
But firm.
“I don’t accept.”
The air between us seemed to disappear.
His expression changed.
“You don’t seem to understand, little kitten.”
There was that strange echo again.
As though two voices were speaking at once.
It sent a shiver crawling down my spine.
“This is my school.”
His gaze darkened.
“I claim you.”
My stomach twisted.
“I’d claim you here in this closet if I had any less decency.”
I swallowed hard.
“When I bed you, you’ll never know anything as sweet.”
I gulped.
His body heat was burning me again.
Too hot.
Too intense.
The outside of his finger brushed slowly down my cheek.
“Your friends are waiting.
They’re becoming agitated.”
His smirk widened.
“One of them is feeling particularly violent.
I can almost taste her murderous intent.”
Oh shoot.
Niera.
I immediately tried to push past him, but my hands found only what felt like a stone wall disguised as a man’s chest.
“Would you mind moving aside?”
He smirked.
Then, finally, he stepped away.
“I’ll see you soon, kitten.”
I didn’t wait another second.
I burst out of that closet like my life depended on it.
Kitten?
Pet?
Oh no.
No.
No.
I couldn’t think about that right now.
I needed to get back to the cafeteria.
My feet carried me as fast as they could down the hallway.
The moment I shoved open the heavy double doors, yelling crashed into me.
“You stupid bitch!” Niera snarled.
“Keep talking shit and I’m going to make you eat it!”
“You fucking whore!” Clarice shoved her.
“I should kill you!”
My heart dropped.
Something changed in Niera’s eyes. New chapters come out on novelping.com first.
I watched a light go out.
Her fist pulled back.
Then she slammed it straight into Clarice’s face.
Crack!
Clarice stumbled backward.
“My nose!”
It sounded more like a shriek than a cry.
“Stop!” I yelled.
Nobody heard me.
Nobody even looked away.
Humans and beasts alike were completely focused on the fight.
A crowd had already formed a circle around them.
Everyone wanted a front-row seat.
I stopped thinking.
I just moved.
I pushed my way through the crowd.
“Pardon me.”
“Excuse me.”
“Sorry.”
“Coming through.”
In seconds, I was standing between them.
A loud crack exploded beside my head.
Pain seared across my cheek.
Hot.
Sharp.
Burning.
Tears immediately filled my eyes.
I slowly turned toward Clarice.
I’d never been hit before.
Not like that.
Not on purpose.
My hand rose to my cheek.
It felt warm.
Too warm.
Too sensitive.
I stood there frozen.
My feet felt glued to the floor.
Shock rooted me in place.
Then something unfamiliar stirred inside my chest.
Hot.
Sharp.
Uncomfortable.
I think…
I think this is anger.
The realization stunned me almost as much as the slap itself.
I took a shaky breath.
“I said stop!”
My voice came out louder than I intended.
To my surprise…
It worked.
Both girls stepped back.
Both stared at me with puzzled expressions.
Then a shadow fell across me.
The scent of sea salt and rain flooded my senses.
Cool.
Fresh.
Comforting.
Almost familiar.
Without thinking, I inhaled deeply.
Something inside me settled.
The strange heat I’d been carrying around all morning seemed to quiet.
“You heard her.”
The voice was deep.
Rich.
Commanding.
It seemed to vibrate through the entire room.
Every beast immediately lowered their head.
The humans followed a moment later.
My stupid self looked up instead.
And immediately regretted it.
My breath caught.
“Oh my.”
The words slipped out before I could stop them.
My eyes widened.
My hands flew to my mouth.
He was beautiful.
Not in the same way as Prince Aries.
Different.
Dangerous.
Refined.
The sort of beauty that made people stare without realizing they were staring.
At the corner of his mouth, a small smirk appeared.
Mortified, I immediately lowered my gaze.
How embarrassing.
“This is breakfast,” he said calmly.
His voice carried effortlessly through the room.
“I know humans think of us as savage beasts.
But even we don’t pick fights until after the first meal.”
A few nervous laughs echoed around the cafeteria.
“Return to your seats.”
The authority in his voice left no room for argument.
People immediately began dispersing.
The crowd broke apart.
Chairs scraped against the floor.
Conversations quickly resumed in hushed voices.
Then I felt it.
His attention shifted toward me.
I couldn’t see it.
But I could feel it.
Like pressure against my skin.
“Look at me.”
The dominance in his aura pressed down on me.
Heavy.
Powerful.
My head suddenly felt difficult to lift.
Still, I obeyed.
Slowly, I raised my face.
My eyes met his.
And immediately got lost.
Deep blue-gray.
Like the ocean during a storm.
Dark.
Endless.
Beautiful.
My heart leapt before remembering how to beat again.
“Your eyes.”
Something shifted across his expression.
Just for a moment.
Gone almost as quickly as it appeared.
“They’re a very pretty shade of blue.”
I blinked.
“Thank you.”
“Hm.”
His gaze lingered for another second before he turned toward the remaining crowd.
“Go back to your meals and mind your own business.”
Relieved, I turned toward my table.
I had barely taken one step when his voice stopped me.
“I did not dismiss you.”
I froze.
Slowly, I turned back.
His eyes were already on me.
And suddenly, I wasn’t sure whether I’d gotten myself into more trouble…
or whether I’d just met another prince.
