Yan Zhu stared at this rare smile of his, his eyes brightening slightly. Although the two of them had always been sworn enemies, meeting only when one of them was meant to die, his facial features were exceptionally fine, truly flawless.

Yu Li slowly leaned in close to him until he was at eye level, his dark, ink-like eyes fixed steadily upon him without a blink. Their breathing intertwined, creating an indescribable sense of ambiguity.

That large, knuckles-prominent hand once again reached up to grip his neck, then shifted to gently pinch his chin.Full novel: Shocking! My Unhinged Arch-Rival is Plotting Against Me! — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Yan Zhu’s sluggish brain vaguely sensed that something was amiss. He shook his head, trying to break free from his control, but the hand clamped around his chin only tightened further.

A melodious, cold voice rang softly beside his ear: “Yet Guixuzhi died two hundred years ago. I was the one who ended him with my own hands.”

What?! How could this be?!

Yan Zhu was numb, completely numb all over.

His silence was deafening.

Brother, have you lost your mind? You, a righteous immortal lord, killed one of your own people?

And what was with this boastful tone of yours?

Are you proud of yourself?

Yu Li continued with a half-smile: “Those who commit wrongs and touch those who should not be touched naturally must pay a price.”

The moment these words left his lips, the ethereal, immortal-like demeanor surrounding him instantly faded by more than half, his brows and eyes faintly carrying a trace of hostility. There was not a shred of a righteous immortal lord about him; calling him a fiend would hardly be an exaggeration.

Yan Zhu paused, stiffening his neck as he retorted, “Then that was my memory failing. Actually, it was… it was the sect master of the Chiling Sect, Du Xinyi.”

A faint, mocking smile flickered across Yu Li’s face.

“Du Xinyi suffered a deviation in his cultivation a hundred years ago and perished long ago.”

Yan Zhu was completely speechless. Looking at the person before him who faintly radiated a sense of danger, he kept his expression calm, but inwardly he was utterly horrified. Has the current cultivation world turned upside down?

Those obnoxious little bitches who besieged me are all gone?

His brain raced at high speed, trying to figure out how to save his life under the present circumstances. As the saying goes, it is better to live a cowardly life than to die a noble death; he had no desire to be resurrected only to perish all over again. Before he could come to any conclusion, however, the hand on his chin suddenly loosened.

Yu Li straightened up, looking down condescendingly at the exquisitely handsome young man on the bed, the corners of his lips curling up slightly: “Did you say you want me to marry you?”

Yan Zhu paused. He had merely said that offhand just now; if he were to brazen on shamelessly, there was no telling if the other man would fly into a rage and hack him to death with a sword. He instantly chose self-preservation, shaking his head: “I have changed my mind again. You are too fierce; I do not want you anymore.”

For a long while, no one spoke, and the atmosphere grew stiff once more.

Yan Zhu looked up at him and saw that the smile on his face had faded at some unknown point. Staring at him with deeply profound eyes, his voice was deep and cold: “You do not want me?”

Yan Zhu once again instinctively shook his head.

The last trace of warmth remaining on Yu Li finally vanished entirely, his voice chilling to the bone:

“Regardless of whose person you are, since you have now entered Qianji, you are my person. Since you are unwilling to marry me, it just so happens that I am still lacking a sword attendant by my side. If you want to stay alive, keep your little schemes to yourself.”

What is the meaning of this?

Yan Zhu’s brain crashed. What kind of development was this? Are people these days all this capricious?

It was not until long after Yu Li left that he tremblingly came to his senses, immediately feeling a surge of annoyance.

This is outrageous! It is simply the height of absurdity!

He, a majestic demon lord, was actually being asked to serve as his sword attendant?

Blood surged through his chest, and it took him a long time to slowly calm down. Even so, still unable to swallow his anger, he rolled off the bed, wanting to go out recklessly and fight him to the death.

Yet just as he prepared to channel a spell, he abruptly froze.

No spiritual power, there is actually no spiritual power!

Not a single trace of spiritual energy circulated through his chaotic meridians.

This body was still completely useless for cultivation.

The Qi and blood in his chest, which had just settled, surged up once more, and his heart turned thoroughly ice-cold.

With trembling hands supporting himself against the wall and his head spinning, he pondered the likelihood of bashing his brains out against something to die. It would have been better to just run straight into Yu Li’s sword earlier; at least that would have given him a quick release.

The sky outside the window had grown pitch black, and inside the room, only a few night-pearls cast a faint, dim glow. Spotting a bronze mirror in the corner of the room with his sharp eyes, he stumbled toward it, wanting to see what kind of magnificent appearance he possessed this time.

The bronze mirror vaguely reflected a human figure. Although it was not very clear, one could still tell it was an exquisite young man with rosy lips and white teeth, with two vivid fingerprints still lingering on his chin.

Losing his footing, Yanzhu promptly tumbled to the floor.

Lying flat on his back, half-dead, he pondered: Why does it have to be this face of all faces?

This face was precisely his original face, virtually identical, in fact.

However, he had stopped using this face many, many years ago.

Ever since he terrorized the world as a demon lord and made a great name for himself, he had changed his appearance. The reason was simple: his original look was far too much like a sissy, making him look too easy to bully while compromising his dignity as a demon lord.

Shouldn’t this face have gone out of print ages ago?

Can someone tell me what is going on here?

With a creak, the bedroom door was pushed open. Straining hard to narrow his eyes into a slit, Yan Zhu looked over and saw that the person who had just left had returned.

In his hand, he carried several small porcelain bottles that looked like medicinal ointment.

Soft-limbed and weak-handed, Yan Zhu rolled over to turn his back to him, thinking with self-abandonment: What is he back for? Does he feel it was not satisfying enough, and came to finish me off with one sword?

The bloody scene he anticipated did not happen. Instead, the young man gently picked him up and placed him back on the bed.

As expected, a righteous immortal lord was still somewhat civilized; at least he knew how to offer courtesy before executing someone.

Lifting his eyelids, he prepared to deliver his pre-death remarks, only to be captivated once again by the beautiful sight before him.

The young man’s light-colored lips were pressed tightly together as he meticulously applied medicine to the wounds on his neck, his long eyelashes lowered, the very picture of a dignified, upright gentleman.

Before he could say anything, the person before him started interrogating him first:

“Why stay on the good bed when you had one, and insist on rolling onto the floor?”

Having served as a demon lord for so many years, Yan Zhu was naturally not a mild-tempered person. Yet with people pressing down on him under the current eaves, he had no choice but to restrain himself. Glancing at him again, he put on a bitter expression and said, “Looking in the mirror.”

Yu Li paused, said nothing more, and set the porcelain bottle in his hand aside, proceeding to undo his belt and undress himself.

Seeing him acting as though he intended to settle down and sleep here, Yan Zhu’s eyes widened in horror. Trembling with apprehension, he asked, “What are you going to do?”

Yu Li glanced at him and said concisely, “Sleep.”

Yan Zhu’s heart trembled violently, and momentarily forgetting everything else, he immediately resisted: “Get out!”

The corners of Yu Li’s mouth curved into another arc: “This is my room. What gives you the right to tell me to get out?”
