One of the Lukes came from the world of Jackie Chan Adventures.
His world had demons empowered by Black Chi, wizards who wielded Good Chi, and the famous Twelve Talismans—absurdly powerful supernatural artifacts.
But that world also seemed to possess an unseen will of its own.
It could be called the Balance between Good and Evil.
Whether it was the Good Chi side or the Black Chi side, whenever one faction became stronger than the other, the will of the world would subtly strengthen the weaker side.
Because of that, no matter how many Talismans Luke managed to obtain, they would eventually be stolen by the villains or recovered by the protagonists for one reason or another.
Put simply, the world’s matchmaking system kept punishing him.
The stronger the Jackie Chan Adventures Luke became through the Talismans, the more troublesome the enemies he faced.
His entire adventure had turned into a terrible starting hand.
While holding the Talismans, he had to deal with both the protagonists hunting him down and the villains trying to rob him.
The Jujutsu Luke asked curiously,
“I remember your world is still in the middle of the struggle over the Talismans, right? This is such an important period for building up your foundation. Do you really have enough leeway to help Luke Abraham?”
The others had the same doubts.
The Jackie Chan Adventures Luke smiled awkwardly.
“Under normal circumstances, I really can’t beat Jackie or that loudmouth Hak Foo from the Black Hand. Even with Talismans in hand, it’s still difficult.”
He coughed lightly.
Thanks to his knowledge of the plot, he had indeed managed to obtain the Rooster, Ox, Snake, and Pig Talismans one after another.
But facing someone who could react to laser-based traps and move fast enough relative to a falling train to make it seem almost stationary was rather discouraging.
And it wasn’t only the protagonists who were absurdly strong.
The villains had powerful fighters too.
There were Black Hand enforcers capable of physically dragging dozens of tons of gold, and Hak Foo, their top combatant, was still in his early-series prime—the period when he could suppress Jackie for practically an entire episode.
Then there was Shendu, the great demon who could endlessly replenish the Shadowkhan.
Facing such overpowered opponents in the Jackie Chan Adventures world had put Luke in an extremely difficult position.
Even though he had acquired four Talismans early, he had already lost half of them.
Only the Ox and Snake Talismans remained in his hands, while Section 13 agents were searching for him and the Black Hand was hunting him down.
All the Lukes knew how bad his situation was.
That only made them more curious about what he was planning.
The Jackie Chan Adventures Luke cleared his throat.
“If I keep playing things the conventional way, then yeah, it’ll be hard for me to gain much. But the Jujutsu Luke gave me a new idea…”
Hearing himself mentioned, the Jujutsu Luke looked confused.
The Jackie Chan Adventures Luke raised his right hand with a smile.
“Everyone, high five.”
They slapped palms and shared their memories.
A short while later, everyone understood what he was planning.
The Jujutsu Luke looked genuinely surprised.
The Jackie Chan Adventures world had more powerful artifacts than just the Talismans.
There were also special masks containing the evil spirits of nine Oni Generals.
Anyone who wore one of those masks could obtain the powerful abilities of the Oni General sealed inside it.
At the same time, however, the wearer would inevitably be possessed and gradually taken over by that Oni General’s spirit.
They were extremely dangerous demonic artifacts.
But the Jackie Chan Adventures Luke had set his sights on them.
“Competing for the Talismans is too difficult. Both the heroes and villains are watching them.”
“Especially once Shendu, the demon they originally came from, revives. The first people he’ll target are the ones holding his Talismans. Keeping them during this period is just too risky.”
“But the Oni Masks are different.”
A smile appeared on his face.
According to his expectations, Good and Evil had to remain balanced in his world.
As long as a great demon like Shendu existed, most of the world’s Black Chi would gather around him.
That meant the Oni Generals still present in the world would become comparatively weak and fall into a dormant state.
That was the first prerequisite for controlling their power.
The Jackie Chan Adventures Luke looked toward Luke Abraham and the Hyuga Luke.
“Everyone here has inherited at least some of the Jujutsu Luke’s affinity from the Ten Shadows Technique. If I remember correctly, both the Lord of Mysteries and Naruto worlds have shadow-related powers too.”
The two immediately understood what he meant.
Luke Abraham nodded.
“That’s right. Sequence 9 Apprentice from the Door Pathway doesn’t naturally grant shadow spells, but after sharing abilities with the Jujutsu Luke, I can use ritual magic to grasp shadow-related powers much faster.”
The Hyuga Luke also confirmed it.
“I don’t have any inherited shadow ninjutsu, but the chakra in my body can directly influence shadows.”
Both worlds possessed shadow-related abilities.
Thanks to the affinity inherited from the Ten Shadows Technique, the two Lukes could quickly reach powers that would otherwise have required them to start completely from scratch.
That gave the Jackie Chan Adventures Luke considerable confidence.
“That’s exactly what I need. While the Oni General’s spirit is dormant, I’ll use my affinity for controlling shadows to resist the mask’s possession and establish a stable balance between us.”
The other Lukes found the idea reasonably convincing.
Of course, the Jackie Chan Adventures Luke had gone to all this trouble to abandon—or at least withdraw from—the competition over the Talismans for a reason that went far beyond merely obtaining an Oni Mask.
“The Oni Generals are demons from Japan that filled the gap while the Eight Demon Sorcerers were sealed. Their strength and upper limit still can’t compare to a great demon like Shendu.”
“Instead of completely relying on demonic power, I’d rather use the demon’s existence to push my own potential further.”
A sharp light appeared in the Jackie Chan Adventures Luke’s eyes.
Through their shared memories, everyone immediately understood what he intended to do.
In the Jackie Chan Adventures world, the strongest force wasn’t the demons or the Good Chi wizards.
It was the omnipresent will of the world that maintained the Balance between Good and Evil.
“I’m planning to use that world mechanism to strengthen myself. If I coexist with a demon, then according to the Balance between Good and Evil, I should have a chance to grow until I possess enough power to stand on equal footing with the demon inside me.” This chapter was taken from novelping.com without permission.
The Jackie Chan Adventures Luke’s idea was bold.
He intended to exploit the world’s own mechanics to climb higher.
As someone who was half human and half demon, he theoretically had a very real chance to turn that Balance into a self-reinforcing advantage and keep pushing himself upward.
The other Lukes exchanged glances.
The Journey Luke, who generally acted as the eldest among them, spoke first.
“Coexisting with a demon definitely carries risks. But if you’ve already made up your mind, then go for it. We’ll support you completely.”
The Jujutsu Luke added,
“The Jujutsu world has something somewhat similar to that Balance between Good and Evil. Cursed energy itself represents negative energy.”
“I’ll try to master Reverse Cursed Technique as soon as possible and learn how to generate positive energy on my own. That should strengthen your Good Chi to some extent and make it easier for you to maintain the upper hand while coexisting with a demon.”
The other Lukes also offered their own suggestions.
With the support of all Nine Unlucky Lukes, the Jackie Chan Adventures Luke became even more confident in his plan.
He pumped a fist and laughed.
“Then wait for my good news.”
The group continued discussing the details of the plan and encouraging him.
…
Jackie Chan Adventures world.
A luxury hotel in Los Angeles.
Luke had just finished the discussion inside the shared space.
He lay back on the sofa, mentally refining the plan to coexist with a demon and use the world’s Balance to continuously strengthen himself.
At that moment, a clear chime rang out.
A high-pitched voice came from outside the door.
“Sir, the premium meal you ordered has arrived. Please open the door to receive it.”
Luke gathered his thoughts and stood up.
When he opened the door, he saw a man dressed as a hotel waiter pushing a food cart.
The waiter lowered his head politely.
“Sir, please step aside so I can bring your lunch into the suite.”
There was nothing wrong with the request.
Luke, however, didn’t move at all.
After a brief silence, the corner of his mouth twitched upward.
“Come on, Jackie. Drop the act. You really will try anything for the Talismans, won’t you?”
The hotel waiter abruptly raised his head.
The face beneath the disguise belonged to none other than Jackie Chan.
