Luke returned to his temporary residence with the mask without any trouble.
At the moment, both Good Chi and Black Chi were focused on the struggle over the Talismans and Shendu’s resurrection.
No faction had any reason to pay special attention to Luke.
“It really is nice not having Jackie or the Black Hand getting in my way…”
He narrowed his eyes contentedly.
Luke placed General Razo’s mask on the table.
The object sealing the demon’s soul was colored in interwoven shades of dark purple and deep green, its surface covered in a cold, gloomy matte sheen.
Two curved horns jutted diagonally from its forehead, their lines as sharp as drawn blades.
Its eye sockets were deep black hollows, while the corners of its mouth curved slightly upward—not in a smile, but in a cold, bloodthirsty sneer.
Even sitting motionless on the table, it gave off an unsettling pressure.
Luke stared at the demonic mask in silence for a long time.
After all, this was a terrifying mask that would gradually allow the demon soul within it to seize control of the wearer’s mind.
The danger was extremely high.
But Luke had already made his decision.
He let out a long breath and muttered quietly,
“Humans really are limited creatures… From watching the protagonists and villains compete against each other, I’ve learned that the more an ordinary person struggles against the underlying rules of the world, the more clearly they realize how powerless they are. I have to become something beyond an ordinary human.”
The hesitation in his eyes quickly turned to determination.
Luke laid the mask flat on his workbench and took out several cutting tools.
“Wearing the mask means coexisting with a demon, but there are still ways to reduce how much its soul can erode mine.”
He picked up an electric angle grinder.
Amid the harsh sound of cutting, Luke sliced off a fragment roughly one quarter the size of the entire mask.
The complete mask carried the complete soul of an Oni General.
Cutting the mask therefore meant cutting apart the demon’s soul as well, reducing its power.
The piece Luke removed was the section around the mask’s right eye, together with one entire sharp demon horn.
Taking a deep breath, he decisively pressed the fragment over his right eye.
Buzz—
An icy dark force instantly surged through the mask and into him, like countless tiny blades drilling into the depths of his soul.
The right half of Luke’s face suddenly erupted in pain.
His vision was dyed deep purple and black as the mask fused directly with his skin, completely becoming part of his demonic form.
An evil presence began to awaken.
It felt as though embracing that darkness would grant him endless power.
This was corruption on the level of the soul.
His body and mind would gradually and uncontrollably transform toward the demonic side until the Oni General eventually seized him completely.
But this was only one quarter of an Oni General’s mask.
And the current period wasn’t the proper time for the Oni Generals to return.
General Razo’s condition was far too weak.
More importantly, Luke Zenin from the Jujutsu Kaisen world had already shared his talent for manipulating shadows with the others.
The moment the Oni General’s soul instinctively tried to invade its wearer, that latent affinity for controlling shadows was immediately stimulated, giving the Jackie Chan Adventures Luke a certain degree of resistance against the Oni General’s shadow power.
After making every preparation he could, Luke remained highly conscious.
He immediately took out the Good Chi spellbook he had obtained from Uncle and repeatedly reminded himself,
“I’m currently the vessel for a reviving demon. To keep that demon from bringing disaster to the human world, I need to borrow the power of Good Chi to suppress it…”
He quickly turned to the page he needed and began chanting the Good Chi spell recorded in the book.
“Yu Mo Gui Gwai Fai Di Zao…”
The instant he recited the incantation, Luke, who had never practiced chi magic before, suddenly sensed the vague and intangible Good Chi described in the records.
Because he was currently carrying an Oni General’s Black Chi, the world’s Balance had been triggered.
Combined with Luke’s determination to reject possession by Black Chi and instead choose Good Chi, the Good Chi existing throughout the world was drawn in by the incantation.
It began actively gathering around Luke and pouring into his body, strengthening his soul and will so that he could effectively resist the Oni General’s spiritual corrosion.
At this point in time, the world’s Black Chi did not favor the Oni Generals.
Black Chi had chosen the great demon Shendu as its representative of supreme evil.
Luke absorbed the Good Chi coming from the world and used it to strengthen himself.
The Oni General’s awakening will was gradually suppressed.
As their souls fused, a delicate balance formed between the two.
“Hah… The first step is always the hardest. Now that I’ve gotten past the first hurdle, things should be easier from here, right?”
Luke raised a hand and wiped away sweat that wasn’t actually there.
He walked over to a mirror.
The right eye covered by the mask had already become a crimson demonic eye, while the surrounding skin had turned blue-purple.
Luke touched the demon horn now protruding from his forehead and looked at the mask fragment that had completely fused with his flesh.
From now on, unless he obtained the proper specialized magical formula, he would no longer be able to remove the mask and separate himself from the Oni General’s soul.
Beyond that, Luke could clearly feel that his physical abilities had improved considerably. Enjoying the story? Read on at novelping.com.
He had also instinctively gained several killing techniques.
Those were enhancements brought by the Oni General’s Black Chi.
As for the Oni General’s core ability—summoning the Shadowkhan—Luke currently couldn’t make proper use of it at all.
Using the Shadowkhan’s power would not only intensify the Black Chi’s corruption and damage the balance of their coexistence, but voluntarily embracing the darkness would also cause Good Chi to abandon him.
On top of that, because Luke was only wearing one quarter of the mask, any Shadowkhan he summoned would also be incomplete, greatly reducing their combat strength.
“Slow and steady. Borrowing a demon’s power to strengthen myself is dangerous enough already. I can’t rush this.”
Luke looked away from the mirror and picked up Uncle’s spellbook again.
Thanks to the reinforcement from Good Chi and the stimulation of the Oni General’s Black Chi, he now had a much sharper and more precise grasp of these obscure chi spells.
Following the instructions in the spellbook, he could easily cast Good Chi magic designed for protection and warding off evil.
Luke immediately cast several such spells on himself, placing a few temporary restraints on the Oni General soul’s awakening.
Once that was done, he closed his eyes and began sensing the special space deep within his soul.
…
When he opened his eyes again, the half-demon Luke who had obtained the power of an Oni General had entered the shared space belonging to the Lukes.
The moment he appeared, the Dragon Raja Luke spoke in delight,
“You succeeded. You found the Oni Mask, put it on, and gained that special half-human, half-demon state.”
The other Lukes immediately looked over and congratulated him as well.
The half-demon Luke scratched his head.
“I haven’t even shared my memories with you yet. How do all of you already know?”
The Hyuga Luke blinked.
“Can’t you see the changes in your own soul? You’ve already grown a demon horn.”
The half-demon Luke froze.
In the eyes of the other Lukes, the soul of the Jackie Chan Adventures Luke had already gained several demonic traits after putting on the Oni Mask.
The same crimson eye.
The same demon horn.
The same blue-purple skin.
Only then did the half-demon Luke raise a hand and touch his head, finally realizing the change.
He didn’t care much about it.
Although his soul had been affected by the demon, the Oni General’s will couldn’t enter this space that belonged exclusively to the Lukes.
The half-demon Luke raised his palm and smiled.
“Everyone, come give me a high five. Let’s share my memories and the new abilities and talents I just gained.”
