Before three o’clock, Wei Jia had everything prepared. Lin Yue went downstairs personally in place of He Yuan to greet Director Zhao from Dachuang.

Lin Yue maintained an appropriate smile throughout, humbly leading him to the meeting room.

The meeting room was clean and odorless, with floors so polished they reflected like mirrors. The tabletops were spotless, the potted plants were strategically placed, and the tea set for entertaining guests was neatly arranged. Even the little secretary’s waist bow was tied evenly and symmetrically, presenting a comfortable appearance.Full novel: So You Are This Kind of Secretary Lin — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Lin Yue walked to the tea set and filled the cups two-thirds full. Then, supporting the bottom of a teacup with one hand and holding its middle with the other, she presented it with the handle facing the guest from Director Zhao’s left side. “Director Zhao, please enjoy some tea first.”

Director Zhao nodded with satisfaction, thinking this young secretary had learned her etiquette well.

“My apologies, but please wait a moment. President He is currently handling an urgent matter.”

Director Zhao acknowledged with a sound and said, “You don’t need to stand here waiting.”

Only then did Lin Yue turn slightly and exit the meeting room.

When she returned to the office, He Yuan was signing documents for a project Zhou Yun Ce had brought over.

Hearing the movement, he looked up and asked, “Have they been brought up?”

“They’re here.”

After exchanging a few quiet words with Zhou Yun Ce, He Yuan finally stood up and said, “Let’s go.”

“Wait a moment, President He.”

Lin Yue suddenly stopped him.

He Yuan paused mid-step, turning slightly to look at her with a puzzled expression. “What is it?”

Lin Yue extended her index finger, not daring to point directly at him but gesturing vaguely in the air a couple of times. “Your tie…”

Being highly perceptive, He Yuan immediately understood that his tie must be crooked when Lin Yue reminded him. He had loosened it slightly earlier at Zhou Yun Ce’s office and probably hadn’t straightened it properly afterward.

This Director Zhao had obsessive-compulsive tendencies. If his tie was crooked, the project discussion might fail as Director Zhao would likely keep staring at his tie.

There was a restroom behind He Yuan’s office that contained everything needed. Just as he was about to turn around, he suddenly stopped and instead looked at Lin Yue, saying, “You help me fix it.”

Lin Yue showed no surprise at all, directly stepping forward and slightly rising on her toes to adjust his crooked tie. Since He Yuan was quite tall—when Zhou Yun Ce had given her a large stack of materials earlier, they included He Yuan’s basic information, of course, just to help her understand her superior better.

He Yuan stood 188cm tall, weighed 79kg, graduated from an Ivy League university with dual master’s degrees in Finance and Computer Science. Besides Chinese and English, he also spoke German and Italian. He disliked all soft, mushy foods like bananas, eggplants, cake cream, etc.

Overall, He Yuan was easy to work with and didn’t make things difficult for others.

During the handover, Zhou Yun Ce had explained that her work revolved around He Yuan, including aspects of his personal life. That meant she needed to understand He Yuan as a person, observe him, to better manage her responsibilities.

But previously, He Yuan had never let her intervene in his personal matters.

An indescribable fragrance drifted into his nostrils. He Yuan’s gaze paused. “Secretary Lin, are you wearing perfume?”

Lin Yue abruptly looked up. “No.”

Because her work often involved receptions and interacting with people, she didn’t wear perfume. It was hard to guarantee that no client might be allergic to fragrances.

He Yuan nodded, perhaps thinking Lin Yue might get tired from standing on her toes, so he slightly bent his waist.

“Secretary Lin.”

He Yuan called her, and Lin Yue looked up to meet his gaze.

“You understand your job scope, right? Starting tomorrow, you need to arrive at my home at 7 AM every morning to select my outfit for the day’s work, even iron it, and handle accessories like watches and ties. If I don’t need a driver for transportation, you’ll serve as the driver. For some business-related evening banquets, you’ll also need to attend as my female companion, and so on.”

“Understood, President He. I understand.”

Lin Yue appeared very calm on the surface, but inside she was nearly frantic—ahhh, what should I do? She still didn’t know how to tie a tie.

After finally straightening He Yuan’s crooked tie, he led Lin Yue directly into the meeting room.

“Apologies, Director Zhao, for keeping you waiting.”

“No problem, I’ve been quite comfortable here. You’ve given me a chance to steal a break from my busy schedule.”

He Yuan chuckled lightly and personally poured a cup of tea for the other party.

“You’ve chosen a good secretary—it’s clear you’ve done your homework. From the moment I entered your building, everything has been impeccable: there’s an automatic disinfection robot at the entrance, the environment is spotless, the employees are uniformly neat, and their etiquette is excellent.”

He Yuan’s smile deepened as he accepted the praise, while Lin Yue felt somewhat embarrassed.

After exchanging a few more casual words, they moved on to the main topic.

Lin Yue and Director Zhao’s assistant stood by. About half an hour later, Director Zhao laughed heartily and said, “Truly worthy of being He Hongtian’s son. You want to take 30% of my profits without contributing any capital or effort? President He, that’s a bit unfair, isn’t it?”

“Director Zhao, you jest. Stellar will still help with your construction—how can that be called no effort? Moreover, the fact that you came here personally today shows that Stellar is worth that 30% profit.”

Director Zhao laughed a couple more times but suddenly turned his gaze to Lin Yue. “30% profit is fine, but I really like this secretary of yours…”

“Director Zhao.”

He Yuan interrupted gently, though his tone was slightly firm. “She is my secretary.”

Director Zhao laughed again. “Look at you, it was just a joke. I wouldn’t dare poach from you. You’re protective even before I finish speaking—just like your father, always guarding your own.”

He Yuan gave a faint, noncommittal smile.

Director Zhao then stood up, took an invitation out of his pocket, and said, “In half a month, it’s my youngest son’s first birthday banquet. I hope both of you can attend.”

He Yuan accepted the invitation. “We will definitely be there on time.”

Satisfied, Director Zhao left.

He Yuan glanced at the invitation in his hand and handed it to Lin Yue. “Secretary Lin, you’ll attend with me then.”

“Yes.”

After returning to the office, Lin Yue’s phone rang.

Seeing the caller ID, she immediately declined the call—it was her university classmate’s mother, the “matchmaker” for all her blind dates.

But this “matchmaker” was persistent; if one call didn’t work, she kept trying. Lin Yue had no choice but to decline each time.

“Secretary Lin, it’s fine to answer the phone.”

Finally, after who knows how many calls, Lin Yue answered the phone.

“Hello, Auntie… I really don’t need it, I have no time… Last time, that Mr. Li wanted to get married right away… Yes, yes, I truly have no time… Okay, thank you, Auntie…”

He Yuan’s pen paused briefly, then he continued working as if nothing had happened.

It must be said that Secretary Lin was truly well-liked.
