“Fine, I’ll know my place, and I hope His Majesty will also stay away from a slave since her status will stain his nobility,” Cassie said coldly, about to leave.
But Kael drew her back, his piercing gaze fixed on her.
“You don’t give me orders in my kingdom. I own and control everything here, including you,” he spat, his voice chilled like ice, making Cassie shudder.
She forcefully removed her hand from his and stared at him stubbornly.
“How can I not be yours?” she questioned seriously, ready to break free from his ownership.
Kael smirked and wiped her tears.
“That will be the day you die. You’re mine until your very death, and wherever you go after death, I will come there to reclaim you,” he said, chuckling darkly like a devil.
Cassie’s eyes widened in shock.
She knew exactly what he meant he would own her forever.
“You’re insane!” she whispered and left the room in rage.
Back in her room, she sat down and wept for a while before putting on her dress.
She felt empty and powerless in this vampire kingdom, with no one to talk to.
“Zarea… Where are you?” she muttered under her breath, missing Zarea a lot.
Zarea had been like a friend to her, the only person she could trust without doubt.
She was still lost in thought when she heard a knock on the door.
“Come in,” she said without looking.
“Your Majesty…” came a familiar voice, making her startle.
She turned in surprise.
Cassie got up from her bed, embraced Zarea, and began to sob.
“I missed you…” she said between sobs.
Zarea was also crying, having missed Cassie too.
“Your Majesty, no one should see us like this,” Zarea said, withdrawing from the hug and wiping her tears.
Cassie sniffed and replied, “I don’t care about that!
Where have you been?”
“I was in a nearby village, but His Majesty asked me to come back, stating that you requested my return,” Zarea replied.
Cassie was surprised.
Was Kael trying to please her?
She couldn’t help but wonder.
“I’m glad you’re back,” Cassie said joyfully, wiping her tears.
“I’m glad to be here too,” Zarea replied.
“Yes…” she replied shyly.
“I’m glad you’re close to His Majesty. He really loves you, and I assure you, he won’t regret it,” Zarea said, making Cassie laugh in disbelief.
“I’m already regretting it. I don’t want this marriage!” Cassie said, stunning Zarea.
“No, please… Don’t say that! What happened?”
Cassie narrated everything that had happened since Zarea left, down to the heated argument she had with Kael minutes ago.
“Oh my… That’s too much to comprehend,” Zarea said, shaking her head in pity.
“I’m so sorry you had to go through all this.
I think you should apologize to His Majesty.
I know you’re mad at him and don’t want to be with him, but I don’t believe he said those words willingly.
He spoke out of anger.
Please, I beg you, reconsider and settle things with him.”
“Don’t you know he hurt my feelings too?
Why should I apologize to him?” Cassie asked, her expression grave.
Zarea held her hands and ushered her to sit down.
“If you don’t, I’m certain things will only get worse. His Majesty will stop at nothing to make you suffer, just to teach you a lesson. He is a man of discipline, and his bad side is not something you’d want to see.”
Cassie let out a deep breath.
“What should I do now?”
“Good. I’ll dress you beautifully, and you’ll meet him tonight to apologize. Remember, you’re both married, and he loves you, so try your best to please him,” Zarea advised.
Cassie’s eyes widened in amusement.
“No! I can’t do that! He’ll think I’m trying to seduce him.”
Zarea laughed.
“Just try it and win his good side.”
“Who punishes the one they love, huh?” Cassie pouted, her heart heavy.
She let out a deep breath, finally ready to swallow her pride and make peace with Kael before it was too late.
“But wait… What about his other wives?” Cassie asked, making Zarea laugh.
“Wives? His Majesty is only married to you, and I don’t think he’ll take more wives. But be careful too much pressure from the Council of Elders could make him change his decision. And since he’s angry with you, he might marry more wives just to spite you.”
Cassie’s heart pounded in fear.
She loved knowing she was his only wife, but the thought of him taking another?
No!
That couldn’t happen.
“I won’t let that happen. Just tell me what to do, and I’ll do it,” Cassie said, determined to make things work with Kael.

The night was beautiful, and the stars adorned the sky, giving it a serene feeling.
Kael had finished his dinner an hour ago and lay on the bed, hands behind his head, staring at the ceiling, deep in thought.
The door opened slowly, and he smirked, already knowing who it was.
“When did you start sneaking into people’s rooms? If I didn’t know better, I’d think it was a little thief,” he mocked.
Cassie frowned slightly but quickly composed herself.
She walked slowly toward his bed.
Kael watched her under the dim candlelight. You are reading on novelping.com, the official source.
The dress she wore accentuated her curves, making her look breathtakingly seductive.
His throat tightened, and he swallowed hard, fighting the urge to stand up.
He remained quiet as she climbed onto the bed.
Instead of speaking, he turned his gaze away, completely avoiding her.
When she got closer, he finally faced her.
She leaned in, her breath tickling his face, making him smirk.
“Why are you here?” he asked, his voice deep.
“I’m here to say that I’m sorry. I didn’t mean what I said earlier I was just angry,” Cassie replied.
Kael remained unfazed.
“I said I’m sorry…” she pouted, looking cute enough to tempt him into doing something reckless.
But he restrained himself.
“Is that so? You can leave,” he said coldly.
Cassie froze.
How could he be so cruel?
Taking the initiative, she kissed him.
But he didn’t kiss her back, leaving her confused.
“You don’t want me?” she asked, sadness in her voice.
“Who taught you this?” he questioned.
“This unlike you, Cassie.”
Cassie smiled.
“Anything for my husband.”
Kael laughed.
“Husband?” he repeated, narrowing his eyes.
“I thought you didn’t want to be my wife?”
“I was foolish, driven by anger,” she admitted.
“Good. Then finish what you started,” he demanded.
Cassie leaned in, kissing him again, and this time, he kissed her back, claiming her lips.
Just when Cassie thought things would escalate, Kael broke the kiss and pulled her onto his chest.
She obeyed, though a little confused.
She listened to his steady heartbeat until he broke the silence.
“Have a good night’s sleep,” he said.
Cassie was surprised but didn’t say anything.
She simply closed her eyes and, for the first time in a long while, fell asleep peacefully.
