Once everyone was awake, Huo Yuhao went to find Zhang Lexuan.
He planned to say goodbye and then continue on his way.
“When you leave, try to follow this path.”
“Okay.
Sister Lexuan, you all need to be careful too.”
After exchanging a few words, Huo Yuhao turned and gradually disappeared into the forest.
But only a few minutes after he left, an extraordinarily powerful Soul Beast aura came from the direction he had just traveled.
Huo Yuhao immediately sensed that something was wrong.
He rushed back while activating his Spirit Eyes to expand his perception range and discovered a wolf-like Soul Beast charging toward Zhang Lexuan and her group.
Meanwhile, Zhang Lexuan and the others were delighted when a Ten-thousand-year Blood Moon Wolf burst out of the undergrowth.
“This Soul Beast’s attributes and age are exactly what we need.
What great luck!”
“Exactly!
We don’t even need to contact Elder Xuan.
We can handle it ourselves!”
The group quickly took up their battle positions and brought down the Blood Moon Wolf with little effort.
One of them even stood on top of the fallen wolf, looking rather pleased with himself.
In the next instant, the world seemed to darken.
Layer upon layer of crimson bloodlight blotted out the sky, and the atmosphere turned cold and sinister.
Whoosh!
All the surrounding vegetation withered in an instant, and a vicious aura flooded the forest.
As a wolf’s howl rang out, a blood-red figure shot toward the man in a flash.
“Wu Yi, watch out!”
Zhang Lexuan was the first to make out the figure and immediately shouted a warning.
At the same time, a crescent of moonlight gathered in her hand and flew toward Wu Yi.
Unfortunately, the figure was simply too fast.
By the time Wu Yi heard Zhang Lexuan’s warning, he hadn’t even had time to raise his guard before an enormous wolf claw came crashing down.
“Ah!”
With a single strike, the wolf tore Wu Yi’s abdomen open and killed him on the spot.
The remaining students gasped at the horrifying sight.
None of them had expected the Blood Moon Wolf King before them to deliberately send out a disposable pawn just to make them lower their guard.
This Blood Moon Wolf was also very different from an ordinary one.
Its body was far larger than normal, its entire form crimson red, and its fur gleamed like condensed blood jade.
More importantly, judging from the Soul Power it had unleashed just now, there was no doubt about it.
This was a 100,000-year Blood Moon Wolf King!
They had badly miscalculated.
They had assumed this area would contain, at most, a few additional Ten-thousand-year Soul Beasts.
Instead, they had run straight into a monster like this.
Seeing Zhang Lexuan and the others prepare for battle, the Blood Moon Wolf King suddenly sprang backward and began circling them.
Zhang Lexuan’s heart sank.
“It wants to toy with us before killing us.
Everyone, form a defensive formation immediately!
Do not attack on your own!”
The others obeyed at once, quickly gathering around Zhang Lexuan and channeling their Soul Power into a defensive barrier.
Zhang Lexuan’s seven Soul Rings, two yellow, two purple, and three black, lit up at once.
A massive, tangible silver moon appeared above her head.
It was the Martial Soul True Body unique to a Spirit Saint.
“We don’t know where Elder Xuan is right now.
Zhang Fan, the rest of you, make as much noise as you can.
The louder, the better!”
Before Zhang Lexuan could even finish speaking, the Blood Moon Wolf King charged straight at them, moving even faster than before.
It forcibly tore a hole through the defensive barrier.
The two people closest to it were instantly sent flying like cannonballs, smashing through several trees before collapsing to the ground, unable to get back up.
Zhang Lexuan seized the opening.
As the Blood Moon Wolf King rushed toward them, she gathered most of her Soul Power.
Her black Soul Ring flashed, and a powerful full moon struck the wolf directly across the face, leaving a deep scar.
The Wolf King let out a furious howl as blood flowed from the wound, making its already savage appearance even more terrifying.
The Blood Moon Wolf King pulled back and roared angrily.
A vast blood-red mist immediately spread through the air, once again engulfing the entire battlefield.
An eerie Blood Moon glow fell over all the students, instantly suppressing the circulation of their Soul Power.
Several students were already being affected by the Blood Moon, their minds growing restless and unstable.
Still, seeing that Zhang Lexuan could genuinely injure the beast gave them a sliver of hope.
But the Blood Moon Wolf King’s bloodlust had been completely ignited by the attack.
Its body darted through the battlefield like a ghost.
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Three blood-red wolf claws tore through the air in rapid succession and slammed viciously into the barrier.
The defensive shield, already missing a section, was instantly covered in a web of cracks.
“Everyone, focus your attacks on it!
Keep it occupied!
We only need to hold it back!”
One of the Spirit Saints roared.
In an instant, Soul Skills of every color erupted into the sky.
The remaining students attacked with everything they had, desperately trying to restrain the Blood Moon Wolf King’s assault.
But the difference in strength between the two sides was enormous.
Within the Blood Moon Domain, the Blood Moon Wolf King’s speed was doubled.
Its attacks had already been difficult to predict, and now they were even harder to counter.
On top of that, every strike carried terrifying power capable of tearing through flesh.
Gradually, the group could no longer hold out.
Several beams of light shot from the Blood Moon Wolf King’s mouth.
After the ensuing barrage, only five students remained standing on the battlefield.
The young men and women who had been laughing and celebrating their victory not long ago now lay one after another in pools of blood.
Those still standing were in terrible condition as well.
Their Soul Power was nearly exhausted.
Heavy, labored breaths filled the air.
Their breathing was ragged, and every breath seemed painful.
The Blood Moon Wolf King had gained several more wounds, but none of them were remotely fatal.
At this rate, finishing off the remaining students was only a matter of time.
All Zhang Lexuan could do now was hope that Elder Xuan would return soon.
He still hadn’t appeared after all this time.
Could he have run into trouble as well?
The thought filled Zhang Lexuan with even greater despair.
Was heaven truly determined to destroy Shrek Academy today?
Her eyes remained fixed on the Blood Moon Wolf King before her.
Judging by how much strength she had left, she could probably use only one or two more Soul Skills.
But without her teammates covering her, landing another hit would be extremely difficult.
She couldn’t defeat it, and she couldn’t outrun it.
What could she possibly do?
Just then, a voice sounded directly in Zhang Lexuan’s mind.
“Sister Lexuan, lure it over there.
I have a way to hold it back!”
The moment the voice rang out, Zhang Lexuan felt her perception expand dramatically.
Her surroundings appeared within her senses from every direction, without a single blind spot.
Even so, Huo Yuhao was still only a Soul Master below Level 20.
Could he really hold back a Blood Moon Wolf King like this?
On the other hand, with this Detection Soul Skill supporting her, perhaps she could keep stalling until Elder Xuan returned.
“Trust me, Sister Lexuan.
You know what I can do!”
Seeing the Blood Moon Wolf King preparing to attack again, Zhang Lexuan gritted her teeth and launched another Soul Skill at it.
The moment the Blood Moon Wolf King locked onto her, Zhang Lexuan suddenly turned and ran toward the position Huo Yuhao had indicated.
The Blood Moon Wolf King had already been wounded by Zhang Lexuan several times.
Now that she was turning to flee, there was no chance it would let her escape.
With an enraged howl, it ignored the remaining students and immediately gave chase.
“What are you still standing around for?
If you have any strength left, hurry and find Elder Xuan!
Don’t waste the time Eldest Senior Sister is buying us!”
“Yes!”
Enduring the intense pain, the remaining students quickly scattered in different directions, silently praying that Zhang Lexuan would manage to escape.
…
In only a few breaths, the Blood Moon Wolf King was already about to catch up with Zhang Lexuan.
Just as it prepared to pounce, a crystal-like jade-green ice scorpion suddenly appeared between them.
