Danielle’s POV
*****
“No, really,” I managed to slip away from Anzari, trying hard to ignore the familiar heaviness in my eyes.
“Did you seriously just come in me?”
This was usually the part where I fell asleep almost immediately after a wild session with the guy.
But my body wasn’t having that.
Not right now.
Anzari folded one pair of his arms in front of his chest, placing another pair on his waist while the last two rested lazily on the bed.
“I… didn’t realise that was a problem.”
“Oh, it is.” I nearly yelled.
“A big one in fact. Do you seriously not know what could happen?”
“To be fair I’ve never released myself inside a woman before.”
“… You’ve got to be fucking kidding me right now,” I brushed my hair back, sitting up despite the ache in my thighs.
“Y–You are allegedly centuries old—”
“About five thousand years. But go on.”
“Yeah, whatever.” I rolled my eyes.
“Yet you’ve got no knowledge of how impregnating a human woman works? Really? And what do you mean you haven’t at least done this to one other person?”
Anzari’s brows furrowed.
The silence that followed gave my eyes the chance to wander a bit.
The way his dick was still rock hard despite emptying in me made me subconsciously catch my bottom lip with my teeth.
I know I’ve come three times.
But damn.
“Well, my words still stand,” he finally sighed, those silver eyes shifting away from me.
“I’ve never ejaculated in a woman before. Yes, I’ve heard of gods impregnating women. It’s happened more times than you’d think. But you…”
He raised his head again, making my breath hitch.
“… Are really the first.” He paused, as if waiting for that to sink in.
“Besides—I didn’t realise it could take just one mating session to make that happen.”
The back of my ears burned so hard I had to look away.
Jesus, I can’t believe we’re actually talking about this.
“You’re doing that thing again.” He noted with amusement.
I frowned.
“What thing?”
“The thing where your face gains a barely noticeable shade of red,” he lifted his chin.
“Almost as if you’re trying to hide a smile.”
Now my cheeks were warming up more.
“You are ridiculously unreal.”
“Maybe I am.”
Before the conversation could swerve into anything weirder I heard something.
A melody that sounded faint at first… until I listened closer.
It was my phone.
“Stay here.” I found myself hopping off the bed, racking my brain with possibilities about who it was.
Anzari didn’t seem bothered, shuffling his legs closer to himself.
“Don’t plan on leaving.”
I ignored that, grabbed a night robe and hurried downstairs.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get to the phone before the first ring finished.
But then it rang a second time almost instantly.
My eyes narrowed at the contact name.
Mom.
“Danielle,” her voice resounded from the other end, a hint of exhaustion in it.
“My darling, how are you?”
I tugged at my night robe, my eyes picking up Anzari’s clothes littered across the living room floor.
“I’m good, Mom. What about you? I wasn’t… exactly expecting your call so late.”
I checked the time on my wall clock.
Well, shit.
It was already past ten?
I could’ve sworn I got into this house a little before eight PM.
Then again—between being held hostage by a crazy goddess and everything else with Anzari, it was not much of a surprise.
Tch.
And I just told momma I’m ‘good’.
“Oh, sorry, honey,” my mother sighed.
“I was going to make this call in the afternoon. But I reasoned that you’d be busy with work.”
“… So you decided to call when I could’ve potentially been preparing for sleep?” I grumbled dramatically to which she chuckled lightly.
“Please. I can tell you were doing anything but sleeping before I called.”
That made my heart skip a beat.
There’s no way she knows anything about my recent escapades right?
“Anyway,” Mom blurted when I didn’t speak.
“All that aside, I was actually calling about Jeremy.”
I beamed.
“Right. How’s my little fledgling doing? Is he asleep? Can you switch to FaceTime so I can see—”
“That’s the thing, Danielle.”
The smile on my face slowly vanished.
I did not like the sudden seriousness in her tone.
“W–What’s the matter?” I drew the words cautiously.
“Is he sick?”
“Oh, God forbid!” I could almost imagine her expression.
“He’s fine. At least, when I saw him this morning anyway—”
“Mom,” I rubbed my forehead.
“Do you wish to kill me with the suspense? Just tell me what happened.” This story is hosted at g.com.
There was a pause from her.
One that made my forehead crease with annoyance.
Luckily it didn’t stretch too long.
“He was taken from school by his father,” Out of all the things she could’ve said I didn’t imagine that one.
“I went to pick him up as usual. But then his teacher said his father had already done it. Which I found odd because today is Thursday and he’s not supposed to see him till at least Friday night.”
As mom kept on talking, my ears rang.
I must’ve dissociated, staring at nothing but the charred marble floor Anzari said he’d clean up.
Simon.
The bastard called me this morning.
Then he came to see me at work—not once mentioning anything about planning to pick up Jeremy earlier than usual.
Something he’s never done since the divorce.
Mom was definitely right to find that suspicious.
“Danielle?” My mother’s voice snapped me out of my reverie.
“I think you should talk to Simon. Or did you two discuss this change before now?”
My fingers tightened around the phone.
“No. We didn’t.” I inhaled through my mouth.
“Mom, thanks for telling me this. I have to go now, okay?”
“Okay, honey.” She let out a heavy breath.
“Sleep well. Good night, baby.”
“Good night, momma.”
I hung up.
Nothing but silence sat with me in the living room for heaven knows how long.
I stared blankly at the floor again.
Until both my fists clenched harder.
“That two-faced motherfucker.” I kissed my teeth, swivelling to the stairs.
But not before picking up my and Anzari’s clothes from the floor.
“Anzari?” I called before even opening the bedroom door.
“Listen, I think I need some shut-eye tonight. So maybe we—”
He wasn’t in the room anymore.
Worst still the bed had been arranged, the pillows kept neatly by the headboard.
I dragged myself in, shutting the door behind me.
My gaze cut to the empty terrarium.
Then back to the bed—specifically the foot of the bed.
I huffed in relief.
Sitting innocently there was none other than Bobby.
He crept through the sheets calmly with those little legs.
Those same ‘little legs’ that had lifted me with ease and pinned me while he railed the shit out of me only minutes ago.
Yep.
“Fuck my life…”
