6 – Preparing to Go Home for Revenge
Yexiao noticed that his master had been in a particularly good mood lately.
It wasn’t the openly expressive kind of good mood, but he was clearly less harsh toward his subordinates.
Good heavens, had he been driven mad by quarreling with the young mistress at home?
Yexiao pondered secretly, his gaze becoming peculiar as he handed documents to Fu Chenxuan.
Fu Chenxuan glanced up at him, a trace of disdain appearing on the man’s handsome face. “What are you looking at?”
“Master, is the young mistress… doing alright?” Yexiao ventured cautiously.
At the mention of Chu Ruan, Fu Chenxuan’s lips unconsciously curved upward before he quickly suppressed it. “Why do you ask?”
“Nothing really, just thought you’ve been acting rather strange these past couple of days,” Yexiao muttered.
Fu Chenxuan let out a cold laugh. “Keep speculating nonsense, and I’ll send you to the desert kingdom to eat sand.”
“No, no, my mistake,” Yexiao quickly surrendered.
“Take this – it’s Ruan Ruan’s household registration. Go change her name and remove the character ‘Yun’,” Fu Chenxuan instructed.
Yexiao took it, winking suggestively at Fu Chenxuan. “Did I hear correctly, Master? Ruan Ruan? When did you start calling her so intimately?”
Fu Chenxuan threw a pen at him. Yexiao nimbly dodged, picked it up while crouching, placed it on the table, and quickly scurried away.
Good heavens, he must have been sweet-talked into happiness by the young mistress at home.
How strange – hadn’t the young mistress always detested the master?
In the office, Fu Chenxuan received a call from Chu Ruan.
“Hello.”
The man’s gentle, pleasant voice came through the phone, making Chu Ruan’s ears twitch slightly.
Why did she blush every time she heard Fu Chenxuan’s voice now?
“I, I want…” Chu Ruan took a deep breath and slowly spoke her request.
Actually, medication might not be very effective for her condition anymore. Self-training for recovery might be faster.
That’s why she hadn’t messaged the man.
He answered immediately, which made her very happy.
Fu Chenxuan listened patiently as Chu Ruan completed her sentence.
He had previously consulted doctors in this field, who all said she needed systematic and reasonable recovery training. He had been considering whether to take Chu Ruan for it these past couple of days.
Now that Ruan Ruan was no longer afraid of him, she might agree.
“I want, to go home, to bring, my things back,” Chu Ruan said.
Fu Chenxuan slightly frowned. “I’ll have someone go get them.”
“I, I need, to go personally,” Chu Ruan hurriedly said, then softened her voice. “Please… please…”
This was the first time Chu Ruan had acted coquettishly toward Fu Chenxuan. The man thought for a moment. “How about I have someone accompany you?”
“Mm, thank… thank you…” Chu Ruan laughed.
Fu Chenxuan chuckled meaningfully on the other end.
Gratitude shouldn’t just be expressed with words alone.
After changing clothes at home, Chu Ruan heard a maid enter and say, “Miss Chu, the master has sent someone to pick you up.”
“Mm.” Chu Ruan smiled kindly at the maid, then looked at the girl in the full-length mirror.
The person in the mirror had large, dark, clear eyes sparkling with light. The teardrop mole at the corner of her eye had been traced into a gorgeous butterfly, small and resting at the corner, adding a touch of charm and sentimentality.
Her soft, crimson lips and delicate, exquisite nose required no makeup, appearing as natural as a lotus emerging from water.
Her fair, delicate skin glowed with an ivory-like luster, enhanced by the crimson dress that made her appear even more beautiful and delicate.A faint curve slowly formed at the corner of Chu Ruan’s lips, the light in her eyes turning cold. She put on the diamond necklace that Fu Chenxuan had given her long ago—one she hadn’t even bothered to open until now—and turned to go downstairs.
Below, a young man in a sharply tailored suit stood waiting. Seeing her descend, he gave a slight bow. “Madam, Mr. Fu has sent me to take you to the Chu residence.”
