It was another morning.

Neo truly felt glad to be out of the true outlands.

Now, he was in Decan.Full novel: SSS-Rank Lord Supreme: The Ultimate Devourer — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

A place that was fit for proper human habitation.

The team had left The Outlands yesterday morning, and arrived at Decan sometime around noon of that day.

Yesterday’s night had been one of joy and drunken revelry.

Well, that was true for those who drank.

Derek had participated in a drinking competition.

He had drank his way to the finals.

Neo had been surprised the young man could hold his liquor so well.

The young man had of course passed out at the finals, his opponent following soon after.

Sofia had also drank.

Neo thanked his fortune that she couldn’t hold her liquor so well.

She was on two cups, when he had regretted joining them.

The way she rubbed against him had been deeply uncomfortable.

She did pass out after one more cup, something he felt was fortunate.

Lancelot like Mia and Neo had only one cup.

Neo had left his untouched.

Mia had took a sip of hers.

And Lancelot stretched his through the night.

Yesterday’s night had been quite the night.

Neo got into a meditative position.

The next meeting was set for noon today.

Those nursing a hangover now would have gotten over it by then.

He didn’t cultivate essence.

He felt it once again.

Devour.

It was still there.

He was aware of some things Devour could do.

He had not used it himself.

But he had seen it in action.

Devour communicated to him a deep sense of hunger.

He knew that at this moment, Devour was much stronger than him.

The things it could do demonstrated that fact.

He needed to get stronger and be in balance with this bloodline.

That was the only way for Devour to keep growing.

He communicated what he wanted with Devour.

He needed to change some things.

Like the sign that would appear when he used his bloodline.

He had decided to use something that wouldn’t be too ridiculous.

He chose the Five-character bloodline of the Swallower lineage.

The Nascent Essence Loving River Snake.

That was just perfect.

Nowhere near strong, but it had the advantage of being good at cultivating essence.

He operated his cultivation technique.

Essence gathered towards him at its normal pace.

Then he activated his bloodline.

He had Devour not only mimic the sign but also the capabilities of the Five-character bloodline.

Dim golden characters appeared on his forehead.

There were five interconnected characters there.

They translated to the words Nascent Essence Loving River Snake.

Essence gathered towards him faster than before.

But that was just the tip of the iceberg.

He didn’t have to struggle to take in the gathered essence.

His cultivation had become more efficient.

He continued operating the technique, basking in the joy of cultivation.

This was how cultivation was to be.

Bloodlines were indeed magical.

Not all bloodlines were like those of the Swallower lineage which directly aided essence cultivation.

Those bloodlines, however, still gave passive boost to essence cultivation.

He enjoyed the steady increase in his essence.

He dared not use Devour itself.

That would be too eye-catching.

With consequences that he didn’t dare to bear.

*

It was well past noon.

The team had gathered.

Neo was also there.

The mood was quiet and very much comfortable.

Derek and Sofia were in a lethargic state.

They looked to be still suffering from the effect of their actions the night before.

Mia cleared her throat.

“Our last entrance into the true outlands might have had a little wrinkle towards the end.”

Even Mia herself felt that was more than a wrinkle.

“But, nonetheless, I think you would agree that it was worth it.”

Neo stared into her eyes.

“Right?” Mia asked.

“Right.” Neo agreed.

She sighed.

“Does that mean our cooperation will turn into something more permanent?”

“About that.” Neo was about to continue when Sofia cut in.

“Just agree already.”

While she might have looked like she was out of it.

Her whole attention had been on the conversation.

Neo felt exasperated.

“We can continue.

However, I have some conditions.”

Derek snorted.

It seemed he too wasn’t so out of it.

“Of course.” Mia nodded.

“What are your conditions?” She felt he wouldn’t ask for something too ridiculous.

“When we enter the true outlands.

There will be times when I would like to go hunt alone.” Neo mentioned his first condition.

Mia frowned.

“Don’t worry, I know my limit.” Neo told her.

She didn’t argue with him.

“My second condition is also quite simple.

Can you please tell Sofia to keep her distance.”

“No!” Sofia shrieked.

Mia only laughed.

“Welcome to the team.” Lancelot congratulated him.

Everything was settled.

Neo would join them on further entrances into the true outlands.

Neo could have ditched the team.

If he had told them that it was too dangerous, that would have been a good excuse.

They were good people.

He had come to enjoy their company.

The true reason he didn’t ditch them had to do with one simple fact.

If he entered the true outlands on his own, he would be sent back to the newbie zone.

He needed to cultivate and rank up faster.

With Devour and the true outlands to support him, he appeared to lack nothing.

He would reach the peak of the mortal world.

Faster than he had ever planned for.

When that happened.

The Immortal World up there would have no choice but to accept him.

Right now, Devour was much stronger than him who was its host.

He needed to get stronger.

He would go wild.

That impulsiveness might very well be a weakness.

Now, however, it was what he would have to rely on.

Devour would take care of everything else.

As long as he wasn’t killed in one strike, Devour would make sure he remained among the living.

He would never run out of essence.

He and the team will enter into the true outlands together.

Fighting stronger demons was no longer a problem.

He didn’t know the limit of Devour, but he could guess.

Now, he was beginning to understand why Devour was feared.

Even the details he had read about Swallower weren’t so ridiculous.

Swallower was nowhere near being capable of some of the things Devour had done.

Swallower might only be capable of some of these things if its host was a high rank immortal.

Devour was doing all this while its host was just a measly F-Rank cultivator.

Swallower swallowed.

The cultivator still had to digest.

Swallowing what was beyond you would surely lead to indigestion.

Devour did as its name stated.

It devoured everything at its very essence and root.

There was no indigestion.

It broke everything down to its most basic essence.
