Although Darth Sidious believed he had the upper hand, he maintained his trademark caution.

Standing before his communication console in the Chancellor’s office, he methodically issued a series of directives.

Blockade Coruscant.

Sever external communication relays.

Manipulate the Galactic Senate and public opinion.

Every order issued was a signed death warrant for the Jedi Order.

Outside the grand entrance of the Jedi Temple, Anakin Skywalker watched as the 501st Legion prepared to breach the perimeter.

“Commander, how much longer until the security grid is bypassed?” Anakin demanded.

Commander Appo rendered a crisp military salute.

“General, the main security system is heavily encrypted.

Our slicers are working on it, but brute-forcing the alloy doors could take hours.”

Anakin stared at the massive blast doors.

For a fleeting moment, hesitation flickered behind his eyes.

A quiet voice echoed in his mind.

Is this truly the only way?

It might not be too late to turn back…

Then, the memories rushed back, overwhelming his doubt.

He saw a dilapidated tent on Tatooine.

His mother, Shmi, lay battered in his arms, her breath fading.

She reached up weakly to caress his cheek, only for her arm to fall limp as the light left her eyes.

He had gripped her hand, desperately trying to hold onto her warmth, completely helpless.

Then came the vision of Padmé.

She was crying out in agony, tangled in blood-stained sheets, pleading for help.

Anakin…

save me…

please…

He had failed to save his mother.

He refused to lose Padmé.

To keep his wife alive, he would burn the galaxy to the ground if necessary.

As the fear of loss consumed him, it twisted into a dark, raging fire.

He felt anger toward the Tusken Raiders who had tortured his mother—a rage that had driven him to slaughter their entire camp, including the women and children.

He felt anger toward the rigid Jedi Code, which forced him to hide his marriage and denied him emotional attachments.

He felt anger toward the Jedi Council for their constant mistrust and scrutiny.

Most of all, he hated himself for his own weakness.

Guided and amplified by Sidious, that anger solidified into pure hatred.

When Anakin raised his head again, his eyes burned with the brilliant yellow tint of the Dark Side.

Power surged through his veins.

“No one stops me,” Anakin muttered.

He turned to Appo, his voice cold and devoid of warmth.

“CC-1119, gather the vanguard and follow me.”

Having lived in the Temple for over a decade, Anakin knew every secondary access shaft and weak point in its perimeter defenses.

Appo felt a chill run down his spine.

General Skywalker had always been a courageous leader who treated the clones as men rather than numbers, rarely addressing them by their birth designations.

The figure standing before him now felt like a stranger.

Yet, years of conditioning forced Appo to obey without question.

“Right away, General,” Appo replied, signaling his squads forward.

Deep within the Temple corridors, Lance Black stepped out of a communication room and nearly ran into Trilla Suduri.

The young human girl looked panicked.

Clad in simple Padawan robes, her dark hair was slightly disheveled.

She had only recently been promoted from the rank of Youngling under the tutelage of Jedi Master Cere Junda.

Seeing the sheer terror in the young girl’s eyes, Lance reached out through the Force.

“Don’t be nervous, Trilla.

We’ll handle this,” Lance said, his tone deliberately steady.

He subtly channeled the Force into his voice, utilizing a soothing technique derived from subtle hypnosis principles.

Unlike an aggressive Mind Trick, it didn’t overpower the target’s will; instead, it projected a sense of calm directly into their mind.

The panic in Trilla’s eyes receded, replaced by sudden clarity.

“Thank you, Lance.

Master Jocasta Nu is gathering everyone in the main hall.

You need to go right away.”

Lance nodded.

“Are you coming?”

“I have to go back to the dorms,” Trilla said, already turning around.

“Master Cere asked me to gather the rest of the Younglings.”

Before Lance could object, she hurried off down the corridor.

Realizing time was short, Lance turned and made his way toward the Temple’s central hall.

Inside the vast hall, hundreds of Jedi had gathered.

Most were helpless Younglings and inexperienced Padawans, guarded by fewer than fifty full Knights.

The legendary Masters of the High Council were nowhere to be seen, deployed across the galaxy leading the Clone Wars.

A Knight approached Lance immediately.

“Master Nu is waiting for you in the briefing room.

Go, quickly.”

Lance crossed the hall and entered the tactical room.

Three senior figures stood around a central holo-projector, discussing their grim reality: Master Jocasta Nu, Master Cere Junda, and Master Gwell.

The holographic display showed live telemetry from outside.

Thousands of 501st troopers had encircled the Temple complex, supported by low-altitude gunships and orbiting Republic attack cruisers.

Every exit was covered.

In the center of the main courtyard, Anakin Skywalker was leading a strike team through an auxiliary side entrance.

Cere slammed her fist onto the console as another signal died.

“Comms are dead.

Every long-range frequency is jammed.”

Without reinforcements, the Temple defenses would collapse in short order.

Worse still was the horrifying realization of Anakin’s betrayal.

Master Jocasta Nu remained surprisingly calm.

The pieces of the puzzle had finally fallen into place.

Palpatine had orchestrated the Clone Wars to scatter the Jedi Masters across the galaxy, leaving the heart of the Order vulnerable.

Decades of complacency had blinded the Council to the threat lurking directly in the Senate.

Darkness had arrived, and the Jedi Order was facing total annihilation.

Jocasta Nu turned away from the HoloNet display and locked eyes with Lance as he entered the room, her expression resolute.

The Temple might fall, but its legacy and its children could still be saved.
